Insert textbook with MySQL stored procedures
by ISM KIS 06 May '09

06 May '09

I have to insert all our textbooks from a textfile. I have created the following stored procedures to do that: CREATE PROCEDURE `InsertBiblio`(IN MyTitle VARCHAR(120), IN MyEdition VARCHAR(120), IN MyAuthor VARCHAR(120), IN MyISBN VARCHAR(120), IN MyYear INTEGER(11), IN MyPublisher VARCHAR(120), IN MyVendor VARCHAR(20), IN MyBugetCategory VARCHAR(120), IN param9 VARCHAR(120), IN param10 VARCHAR(120), IN param11 INTEGER(11), IN param12 INTEGER(11), IN param13 VARCHAR(120), IN MyCost TEXT, IN param15 VARCHAR(120)) NOT DETERMINISTIC SQL SECURITY DEFINER COMMENT '' BEGIN declare MyBiblionumber integer; declare MyBiblioitemnumber integer; insert into biblio (title, author, copyrightdate, frameworkcode) values(MyTitle,MyAuthor,MyYear,'BKS'); set MyBiblionumber = LAST_INSERT_ID() ; insert into biblioitems (biblionumber, isbn, itemtype) value(MyBiblionumber,MyISBN,'BK'); set MyBiblioitemnumber = LAST_INSERT_ID() ; select MyBiblionumber as Biblionumber, MyBiblioitemnumber as Biblioitemnumber ; END; CREATE PROCEDURE `InsertItem`(IN MyBiblionumber INTEGER(11), IN MyBiblioitemnnumber INTEGER(11), IN MyBarcode VARCHAR(120)) NOT DETERMINISTIC SQL SECURITY DEFINER COMMENT '' BEGIN insert into items (biblionumber, biblioitemnumber, barcode, homebranch) values(Mybiblionumber,MyBiblioitemnnumber,Mybarcode,'TextBook'); END; But I must miss something because (after rebuild_zebra.pl) I can't find the textbook. Are there more tables I have to update then (biblio, biblioitems, and items) ? Rudy Wuthrich Kodaikanal International School

XSLT option
by Kate 06 May '09

06 May '09

Hi, I realised that this may have already been filed under stupid questions, but I'm still not seeing the XSLT display option in the OPAC preferences. (I'm using Koha koha-3.00.00-beta2) and not sure why that is. I want to customise the OPAC search results (mostly to display Title field |b). Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Cheers, kate

Clearing "in house" OPACs
by Adrea Lund 06 May '09

06 May '09

We have computers in our library which are only used as OPACs - we would like to set up these OPAC computers to clear search history/login info/cart contents etc. after a certain period of inactivity (perhaps 2-3 minutes). So that when you sit down at an OPAC in the library you are not already logged into someone else's account. Does anyone have a solution for how to set this up? We have already experimented with the "timeout" admin system preference. It does not do the trick, because we do not want to staff to be logged out of our staff module after a period of inactivity, and we do not want folks accessing their account from home to get logged out of their account automatically. We just need a solution for the OPAC computers in the library. Thanks for your help! Adrea Lund Head of Adult Services Grand County Public Library 257 E. Center St. Moab, UT 84532 435-259-1111 ext11

Searching authorities
by Alejandro Tiraboschi 06 May '09

06 May '09

Hi: I have a question related with searching when koha has authorities enabled. In the OPAC http://biblio.bmayor.famaf.unc.edu.ar (http://biblio.bmayor.unc.edu.ar in the near future) you can Browse by Subject<http://biblio.bmayor.famaf.unc.edu.ar/cgi-bin/koha/opac-authorities-home.pl> (switch previously to english) for example "POESIA" and you get some authority records, in particular $aPOESIA *used for/see from:* GENERO LIRICO *used for/see from:* GENERO POETICO *see also:* GENEROS LITERARIOS *see also:* VERSIFICACION *see also:* CLASIFICACION DE LOS VERSOS *see also:* CLASIFICACION DE LAS ESTROFAS<http://biblio.bmayor.famaf.unc.edu.ar/cgi-bin/koha/opac-authoritiesdetail.p…> * * *The biblios linked to/from this authority are 212. If you search "poesia" in the usual way (without using authorities) you get a lot of records (including those 212) and it is ok. The problem is, in my opinion, when you search for a "non used term", for example "GENERO LIRICO", because you get a No Result found!. I think the correct answer should be, at least, that you get all the records that link to the authority record "POESIA". If not, the autorithy system has no sense (o very little) for the OPAC user.* *My question is: * *Do Koha work in this way or is a problem of missconfiguration? * complementary: Is it possible to configure/modify Koha/Zebra in such way that the usual search works with the non used terms? Bye. Thanks in advance. Alejandro Tiraboschi FaMAF-UNC
