Re: [Koha] Patron Category TYPES_REvised question :)
by kdr＠ckls.org 15 Sep '09

We also have no trouble developing many different patron categories under the current structure. It seems that you Student category easily can fit under ADULT, while the Employee category is still a logical subcategory of STAFF (or even ADULT, if you choose!) They operate according to what parameters you choose for each. The only real differences I've seen are the guarantor portion or the difference in the way names are entered with some broad Categories. So we are planning to add the following category types: > > 1. Student (does NOT need guarantor) > 2. Employee (replacement to the Staff Category type) At my library we don't find the guarantor feature to be useful, so we've created all our patron types as a subtype of the Adult category type. This doesn't adversely affect any aspect of patron management for us. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org _______________________________________________ Koha mailing list Koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web.com Enhanced email for the mobile individual based on Microsoft® Exchange - http://link.mail2web.com/Personal/EnhancedEmail

Call number in list view or search result
by De Zeeuw, Darren 15 Sep '09

15 Sep '09

I've just recently migrated from Follett to Koha3 (what a pain), but we have a crucial feature that was easy in Follett that I can't figure out how to do in Koha. The teachers in our school have created lists of books to pull for units they do each year. The information is now stored in the non-public note (Marc 952x). I can easily search for this data, but the list makes it very hard to go to the shelves to pull the books as the call number is only visible when looking at the item details. What seems to be the most useful process for us is to take a search result and make a private list out of it. The list view is quite concise, but contains the useless copyright year. I would love to have the call number there instead (I think items.itemcallnumber instead of biblio.copyrightdate). If someone could clue me in on the perl file and modifications needed that would be great. I can't quite decipher the interaction of multiple files and includes in the pages. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Darren De Zeeuw
