Holds to Pull empty - solution
by Agnes Rivers-Moore 17 Sep '09

17 Sep '09

Dear List I am writing this here in case anyone else still has this problem, and also to thank Bob Birchall @ Calyx, who posted this last month, and saved us hours of head scratching! > We have an entry in the issues table with a NULL itemnumber. This is > causing the 'holds to pull' report to fail. > Is it safe to simply delete the corrupt row from the issues table? Sure enough, we did have 3 rows in our issues table, where the itemnumber, branch and patron were null, but there was a checked-out date. I have no idea how Koha allows this to happen, but as soon as the rogue rows were deleted, the report worked. Agnes -- Agnes Rivers-Moore Assistant Librarian Hanover Public Library

bulkmarcimport.pl guidance
by Amy Schuler 17 Sep '09

17 Sep '09

Hi, This is a follow up to the question I asked awhile back about importing records using bulkmarcimport.pl vs. the staff interface. Sounds like bulkmarcimport is the way to go. My understanding is that using bulkmarcimport is what I should use for records that have items attached. I am running Koha v. 3.0.2 on Windows. How exactly do I use bulkmarcimport.pl to import records into my database? I saw some instructions in this listserve's archive, but it was for an earlier version of Koha. I expect that my IT department will do the importing (not me) so do I need to provide them with certain information? And finally - we are NOT using zebra (only 10,000 records) but is there any kind of re-indexing job that will need to be done after the import? Thanks. Amy C. What are the authorities for? I cant find a explanation for them, I am trying to edit the 100 $a field, i figured out how to add authorities, do a search for that authority to stick it in the 100$a field, but whats the point? I could just turn them off, would it have a great affect on things? Thanks. For those that reply. -Scott

Mass Updating Patrons
by Roche III, Edward 17 Sep '09

17 Sep '09

Hi All I just had to do a mass update of all our patrons to add an extended attribute and a value for that attribute. To do this I used an export from our system that tracks our student records and used the patron import feature. It work fine except I don't think the section "Field to use for record matching" is working properly. The reason I say this is because there were about 14 new student that were part of the import file that were not currently in Koha it added there info when all I wanted to do was update what was already there. I guess it kind of makes sense but maybe we could have an option that we can select only the patrons that are currently in the database to update. Any thoughts? Thanks Ed Edward J. ISBD Format
by Nadel Catura 17 Sep '09

17 Sep '09

In tutorials, we have read that the ISBD format can be customized, (i mean, can be organized in order of preference) by editing the ISBD preferences. However, is this "reordering" capability is only available un Left Aligned format? Our library hopes to make it more like the card catalog. Where the call number is on the upper leftmost side of the card, and the other biblio is horizontally adjacent to the call number. (see attached image) to see what i mean :) Is it possible to edit the ISBD preference to make it more like the card catalog? If so, is there an available code that we can just copy? If not, is there a module in the system that creates a card catalog? Thanks very much in advance! Have a nice day.

Circulation Search Box
by Roche III, Edward 17 Sep '09

17 Sep '09

I had a request to change what is list when you start to type out a patron's name in the search on. I have look at the source of the page and found the code but what they want to change is the address and make it the extended attribute we added for are patrons. I am not sure how to call the info if it is in another table then the rest of the patron info. Any ideas? Thanks Ed Edward J.
