installing Koha 3, bulk marc import v. staged

Hello, I have installed Koha 3.0 and am close to importing my MARC records into the database. My question is this: somewhere I have read that it is recommended that for the initial big import, one should use the Bulk Marc Import tool (which I believe is a command line thing) rather than the staging MARC records. During my trial run, I had used the staging & importing tools rather than the bulk marc import. Is there a very compelling reason to use the bulk? During my trial run it turns out that I did not populate the database, but that was because I messed up some of the system parameters - not because of any issue with the staging & importing tools. I would rather not use the bulk marc import, if avoidable, because it is more techy than the staging & importing. I have less than 10,000 records to import. Let me know if you need more information. Simple Koha Apache Issue

Dear All I've installed Koha 3 on Debian Lenny and configured Apache to work with PHP. I've Installed WordPress at /usr/share/phpdir/wordpress and make an alias in Apache conf file so that I can point http://localhost/phpdir/wordpress to access wordpress blog. Now when I point my browser at http://localhost it redirects me to Koha OPAC. I want to redirect all requests at http://localhost to http://localhost/phpdir/wordpress automatically. How can I? delete of default patrons

We have a newly installed Koha in our system. For beginners, we chose to install also the sample patrons. UNfortunately, our librarians chose to encode the real users of our libraries. How can we delete the Patrons added during the installation? Thanks in advance for the help.

Parent/ child accounts

>From my brief testing with Koha 3.0, a parent who logs in does not have access to any associated child accounts. So, for a parent looking for a quick way to check what items his/ her family has checked out, s/he either has to check out all materials on one card, or check each account individually. Neither option is ideal. Are there workarounds for this? How big an enhancement would this be? I know privacy concerns would kick in at some point, particularly with teenagers, but for the younger set (elementary/ middle school years), I think some kind of "family administrator" account makes sense. Submission of Changes in Personal Details of Patrons

Is there a way to disable this functionality? Our library does not want any changes on the personal details of the patrons. So as much as possible, we would want to disable this functionality. How can we do this? Thanks in advance!

I have found way to do this. Help with searching from a Google Android phone

Hello, I'm grappling with something exciting at the moment but would like some help from the Koha community. I have a brand new Google Android phone, which has on it an app called Barcode Scanner. It works by using the phone's camera as a barcode reader to scan an item's ISBN then search something like Amazon or Google Books to find a match (which you can obviously use to purchase the item). Think of seeing a good book your friend has, scanning the barcode and ordering a copy for yourself. Where Koha comes in is that it offers one the ability to enter a 'custom search' URL. So I started to think: what if I set this to be my library's OPAC and did an ISBN search of Koha? That would give me the ability to search my Koha using a smartphone barcode scanner. The problem is, I can't get any results returned. I've set the 'custom search' URL to be http://<library server>/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=%s (where %s is the ISBN returned by the barcode scanner.) The problem is that I can't get any results returned. The ISBN I'm using to test it is 9780143018674 but the page I end up on is 'No result found! No results match your search for 9780143018674.' Is there a special URL I should use to complete an ISBN search? Can anyone help me? Mark Osborne

How to add new translation

Hi all, i had translated opac version of Koha into Azerbaijanian, staff version i am keeping in Turkish, so i have 2 po file, i had replaced them into ../translator/po directory, dona chmod adn chown operations for them, then i did ./install-code az-AZ which gived me this result :   ./install-code.pl az-AZ az-AZ-i-staff-t-prog-v-3000000.po : intranet ../../koha-tmpl/intranet-tmpl/prog/en/: Input must be a file or directory.
