Stack Smashing
by Chadwick, John, DCA 05 Jan '10

Here is a good challenge. I have seen this question posed a few times, but have not seen an answer. We are running 3.01.00.061 on Ubuntu 8.04.3. Using the icuchain method for indexing records. When we got to just over 10,000 records we started to get the following error message when Zebra gets to the point of inserting records. Any ideas on this one? We are running Koha 3.01.00.061 with Zebra. Rebuilding Zebra is failing and we are unable to search indexes. *** stack smashing detected ***: zebraidx terminated ======= Backtrace: ========= /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6(__fortify_fail+0x48)[0xb6d7cda8] /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6(__fortify_fail+0x0)[0xb6d7cd60] /usr/lib/libidzebra-2.0.so.0[0xb7fc10c4] /usr/lib/libidzebra-2.0.so.0[0xb7f69a0a] [0x13c] Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated on this one. Agnes, My goal is to have all libraries using Koha (and other automation systems) represented in lib-web-cats. In order to show on the map, the entry for the library needs to include the GPS coordinates in its lib-web-cats entry. These are present for most US libraries. I have not been able to add coordinates comprehensively for libraries in many other regions. I'm looking for a web service or some other tool that will reliably convert international addresses to geospatial coordinates. I could then develop a perl script to populate the missing coordinate data for library entries in lib-web-cats. If anyone knows of a good approach for this or can share a perl script to accomplish this, I would be very grateful. Best regards, -marshall -----Original Message----- From: Agnes Rivers-Moore [mailto:arm@hanover.ca] Sent: Tuesday, January 05, 2010 10:49 AM To: Breeding, Marshall Subject: Re: [Koha] Map of Koha libraries worldwide Hi Marshall, Great job! Just FYI while you are refining it, I notice that of our six consortium libraries, three appear and three do not. Some variation in the way the library address is recorded? Are you taking your map data from the Koha libraries list at http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=kohausers, or from your own database? I imagine you are using your own, which is quite probably more comprehensive for North America, but does not show the South American, European, Australian, New Zealand etc libraries. Map of Koha libraries worldwide
by Breeding, Marshall 05 Jan '10

There was a thread on this list recently involving the development of a map that displays all libraries using Koha. David Friggens had developed a version using Google maps and data from lib-web-cats, but I think that it involved manually adding entries to the map. The map for ILS implementations is one example of a more extensive map API that I have created in lib-web-cats that I'm still in the process of documenting. I have created a new map facility in lib-web-cats that can be used to display such things as all libraries using Koha that are represented in lib-web-cats. It's still in draft form, but here is the map for Koha libraries: http://www.librarytechnology.org/map.pl?ILS=Koha Comments, suggestions, corrections, etc, definitely appreciated. I hope this is useful. Problem importing authority records
by Amy Schuler 05 Jan '10

Hello, We just ran the bulkauthimport script and it returned the following: koha@Koha3:~/kohaclone/misc/migration_tools$ ./bulkauthimport.pl -file bulkauthimport.xml Use of uninitialized value $conf_fname in concatenation (.) or string at /etc/perl/C4/Context.pm line 321. read_config_file() returned undef at /etc/perl/C4/Context.pm line 321. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /etc/perl/C4/AuthoritiesMarc.pm line 24. Compilation failed in require at ./bulkauthimport.pl line 20. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at ./bulkauthimport.pl line 20. This looks a lot like the error I get when I run bulkmarcimport, also. Thankfully I was able to get my marc records (and items) into Koha using the web interface. However, the fact that I cannot seem to get any (or most) of these scripts to run is problematic. I cannot seem to get rebuild_zebra to work either. I mention these other problems in case they help with this latest authority import problem. I am running Koha 3.0 Thanks! Amy Amy C. Reviving the Koha Newsletter
by Nicole Engard 05 Jan '10

05 Jan '10

Hello all, I have been asked to Revive the Koha Newsletter. I assume that I was asked because of my writing background and my role in documenting Koha usage. That said, I can't do it alone :) I'm writing to ask if anyone has a short story they want to share in the Koha Newsletter. If you or your library has done something neat with Koha or has just made the move, feel free to send me a short (100-300 words) entry that I can post in the Newsletter. If you have a news item that has already been written up, feel free to share the link with me and I'll put the links in the Newsletter. After the first Newsletter publication in January I'll be asking for more help and content! For now, I'm just going to figure out the best way to make this work and to share your stories! Thanks a bunch - and get writing! :) Nicole C. Engard ByWater Solutions/BibLibre Koha Documentation Manager

Labels - Code 128
by savitra sirohi 05 Jan '10

05 Jan '10

Hello all, We have a problem at one of our customers' sites - their barcode scanners are not reading the labels generated from Koha. At this time it looks like the scanner cannot read code 39 labels. Has anyone experienced this problem? If yes, what was the solution. A related question, Koha does not seem to have an option to generate code 128 barcodes, or does it? I know we install the CPAN module Barcode::Code128. Thanks, Savitra Sirohi Nucsoft OSS Labs http://www.osslabs.biz
