OPAC display problems
by Inock Siziba 07 Jan '10

07 Jan '10

Compliments of the new year, and trust the message finds you all very well. On carrying out a search from our OPAC, the availability details of some materials are not showing on the search results list. This is especially so, for some few new books recently added to the catalogue, although most of the new books also recently added will display the availability details informationn. May someone kindly advise why we are experiencing this inconsistance whenever the index is updated? Just to prove it for yourselves, you may make a search for the following search term (Jewish and Christian) from our catalogue at http://tcz.co.zw:8383 You will realize that 9 search results will display, but the ninth record (This strange story by Davis Stacy) has a blank on the availability area. However, if you also search by author (Davis Stacy) nothing is displayed on the status space. There are many such inconsistancies being encountered in our OPAC display. Please help, so we can arrest the problem before it develops any further. Inock Siziba Theological College of Zimbabwe

environment variables
by Amy Schuler 07 Jan '10

07 Jan '10

Good morning, A few days ago it was suggested to me that my environmental variables Koha_conf and PERL5LIB were not set up, which may lead to the problems I had running the migration tools (bulkmarcimport, authority import) also the zebra indexing. It seems to me that my environmental variables are set up correctly. Here we have run the echo command and also tried bulk authority import again. If this printout below suggests anything new, I am grateful to hear your thoughts. Thanks again! koha@Koha3:~/kohaclone/misc/migration_tools$ echo $KOHA_CONF && echo $PERL5LIB /home/koha/koha-dev/etc/koha-conf.xml /etc/perl/C4 koha@Koha3:~/kohaclone/misc/migration_tools$ ./bulkauthimport.pl -file bulkauthimport.xml Use of uninitialized value $conf_fname in concatenation (.) or string at /etc/perl/C4/Context.pm line 321. read_config_file() returned undef at /etc/perl/C4/Context.pm line 321. I am also interested in the response to Luis Diaz recent question, about how to make sure that zebra indexing is actually working when you have chosen to use the zebra indexing after the initial web installer setup (turning nozebra sys pref OFF, then running rebuild_zebra.pl - is this all it takes?) ink_bibs_to_authorities. pl
by Christopher Curry 07 Jan '10

07 Jan '10

Hello, all. We're in the final stages of our Koha implementation and I'm trying to sort out the bib/auth linking. Can someone direct me to documentation describing what the link_bibs_to_authorities. pl script is looking for when it checks bibs (if it exists)? I loaded 1 record and one of its associated authority records into my catalog and the script checks the bib, but doesn't modify it. No errors are reported. I'm no expert on authority control, so I'm not sure if our old catalog created bad records or there is some further configuration that needs to be done in order to get the script to work for our records. I found this thread on the devel list, which may point to the latter: http://lists.koha.org/pipermail/koha-devel/2008-May/007629.html. Any help is appreciated. -- Cheers, Christopher Curry Assistant Technical Librarian / Assistant IT Officer American Philosophical Society 105 South Fifth Street Philadelphia, PA 19106-3386 Tel. marc loadfile question
by Erik Lewis 06 Jan '10

06 Jan '10

I've got a file that I've got in MarcEdit that I played with sometime ago. Unfortunately I can't find my notes to determine how far I got in converting the file. Is there some wicked cool way to use MarcEdit to print out just the 952 field and its subfields from all of the records so I can get an idea of what I've done versus what I haven't done? Clear as mud?
