Dear Friends, We are transferring koha installation from one system to another. We installed Koha 3.02 version in our server (CentOS Linux) with zebra. Our aim is to transfer the Koha in to another machine with Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty. We dont like run zebra with new installation because new system is less powerful. And we installed Koha 3.02 in new machine (Ubuntu 9.04) without (disabled) zebra and restored the old database. I made nozebra > on in System preferences. Everything working fine, but searching books does not give result. I request your help to solve this problem. With thanks, -- Vimal Kumar V. Asst. by nitesh rijal 13 Jan '10

13 Jan '10

Hello all. I am using KOHA 3.0.3 in Debian Lenny. I have already generated barcodes for patrons and also the report that contains patrons' details. Now the problem is that we need to design sample Patron Cards. We can surely copy-paste the patron details from the CSV file of reports but hpw do we copy-paste the barcodes into the cards??? I mean that suppose we have the following fields: Name: Address: Roll No.: Level: Faculty: and also the barcode in the backside of the card......I can easily put in the details above but how do I place the barcodes in the card???? Is there any specific software that can be used to do this??? searching subjects in PAC
by Rachel Hollis 12 Jan '10

12 Jan '10

Greetings friends, I believe that I need to change something for the users of our PAC and I can't believe that I have just noticed this issue. When our users click a subject heading, they receive a "No results match your search for 'an:2812' in CASI Libraries Catalog" screen even when we have more than the one item with the subject heading. The "an" with the number part of the message indicates to me that the authority files are being used. Assuming that, under Administration > Systems Preferences > Authorities the following selections have been made: authoritysep set to -- BiblioAddsAuthorities set to ON dontmerge set to ON Using the authority files while cataloging I have noticed that we have multiple headings; for the search above there are two headings in the authorities database, one with control number 2812 and one with 3488. What can I do to allow our PAC users to click on heading and find the other titles with the same heading? Do I need to ask our system administrator to enable the merge_authorities.pl cron job? We are using Koha 3.01. Circulation report w/ each item
by Cab Vinton 12 Jan '10

12 Jan '10

We break our circulation statistics down in a number of ways & for the moment at least the best way to get these will be to produce a circ report listing the call number & checkout date for each item. Can anyone provide some help with producing a report in this format? Thank you, Cab Vinton, Director Sanbornton Public Library Sanbornton, NH

Question regarding MARC importing
by umpajosh＠yahoo.com 12 Jan '10

12 Jan '10

Greetings, We are in the process of starting a small library for our small college. I have an Excel file with 5 columns. The first column is our own internal proprietary number we were using just to have a simple unique identifier, and, it wouldn't probably be a big deal if it were totally absent from the MARC record. The second column is the Library of Congress number associated with the book. The third column is the publication date. The fourth column is the author. The fifth column is the title. I am entirely ignorant when it comes to the MARC record format. Terry Reese was kind enough to provide me with the following information when I was stumped as to how MarcEdit could complete this conversion for me: Field 0: 035$a = proprietary book number Field 1: 090$a = LC classification number Field 2: 260$c = Publication date Field 3: 100$a; indicators: 10 = Author Field 4: 245$a; indicators: 10 = Title Using that information (as best as I can figure out how), and then putting the MARC file through MarcEdit's validator, I receive the following errors: Record #: 18 001 (if defined): 245 (if defined): = Title$aOur High Calling Errors: 100-ind1: Invalid data (\) Indicator can only be 013. 245-ind1: Invalid data (\) Indicator can only be 01. 245-ind2: Invalid data (\) Indicator can only be 0-9. I am rather stumped. I have found several sites that elaborate on MARC file indicators, but I cannot figure out for the life of me what I need to do. The errors seem to indicate above that the 'indicator' 10 is not valid for the 'fields' of 100 or 245- but perhaps I am not reading that correctly? Any help would be very appreciated, Joshua
