Labels and zebra search not working after migrating data
by Marty 23 Dec '09

23 Dec '09

After installing koha-3.04 stable everything worked fine, I could enter biblios, patrons, use search with zebra and make labels. However, after moving my data from koha 2.2.9, following instructions from http::/wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=22_to_30 koha ONLY works with nozebra, and the labels page shows: Layout: No Layout Specified: Select a Label Layout Template: No Template Specified: Select a Label Template Batch: Create a new batch And I cannot really do anything with any of these, it does not seem to save anything. Koha does work with zebra turned off, meaning I can search, checkout, check in, etc, but I really would like to have the zebra search options and the labels working. The logs don't show too much errors, see below. If there is a better method to migrate data from the 2.2.9 version, please let me know. Or any ideas to get this working. It is frustrating that it works so well until I migrate the data. Thanks, Marty rebuild_zebra.pl -b -w always ends with; zebraidx(3131) [warn] Record didn't contain match fields in (bib1,Local-number) koha-error_log output: (partial) [Wed Dec 23 13:42:29 2009] [error] [client 127.0.1.1] [Wed Dec 23 13:42:29 2009] circulation.pl: Use of uninitialized value in pattern match (m//) at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Biblio.pm line 2866., referer: http://debian:8080/cgi-bin/koha/circ/circulation.pl koha-zebradaemon-output.log 23:06:07-22/12 zebrasrv(6) [warn] Record didn't contain match fields in (bib1,Local-number) koha-zebraqueue-output.log DBD::mysql::st fetchrow_hashref failed: fetch() without execute() at /usr/share/koha/bin/zebraqueue_daemon.pl line 124. Circulation and import reservoir questions
by Amy Schuler 22 Dec '09

22 Dec '09

Hello, Using a combination of bulkmarcimport script and the web interface (stage MARC/manage MARC), I finally got my data into Koha 3.0. Thanks again for all of the help! I also got my patron information imported, and have been poking around and see a few odd things. Here is one, in circulation: In the profile for "Betty Smith", who is indeed one of my library patrons, there is a complete stranger listed as Betty's guarantee. I do not have any clue who this person (the guarantee) is, but she is affiliated with one of the other libraries that are in the drop-down menu when I log onto the staff client (is there a way to delete these?) Sure enough, when I look at the guarantee's profile, my patron Betty is listed as her guarantor. Can anyone tell me how - or if - I can sever this relationship? Here is another question about Koha cataloging. In the cataloging module, when I search for a record to edit, it results in the records currently in my catalog as well as previous iterations from the import reservoir (imports that I reverted). Is there a way I can clear out the reservoir of staged and reverted imports? If you can answer either or both of these questions, I appreciate it. Thanks a lot! Amy Amy C. Call numbers from 099
by Elaine Bradtke 22 Dec '09

22 Dec '09

I thought I got this to work, but now I'm hopelessly confused. (version : 3.00.01.005) We have our own system of call numbers, which I was planning on putting into 099a I thought I had figured out how to get Koha to take the contents of the 099a and put it into 952o. But now it doesn't seem to do it. I fear I've twiddled too many settings and have gotten myself into a muddle. a) what settings do I need in the MARC format to have Koha put the 099a call number into the 952o field? b) or is this something I should set up to happen during our data migration? It just seems like a lot of work to have to retype the same call number for every item. . . Thanks! -- Elaine

KOHA Error Redirecting Help
by nitesh rijal 22 Dec '09

22 Dec '09

Hello all. I am having some problem with redirecting a standard KOHA Error to some other page. Actually I've modified a function to navigate to next and previous biblionumber within the records in KOHA. The problem is that if I supply a existing biblionumber it works fine, but when I supply a biblionumber that is not present then it gives the following error. Koha error > > The following fatal error has occurred: > > Can't call method "title" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/cataloguing/addbiblio.pl line 878. > > Apache Server version: Apache/2.2.9 (Debian) Server built: Nov 14 2009 > 20:23:49 Koha 3.00.02.012 Koha DB 3.0002012 MySQL mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib > 5.0.51a, for debian-linux-gnu (i486) using readline 5.2 OS Linux > koha.healthnet.org.np 2.6.26-2-686 #1 SMP Wed Nov 4 20:45:37 UTC 2009 i686 > Perl 5.010000 I just want to format that ERROR message to display something else or just redirect to a "ADD New Record" form. I cannot find where the error is being displayed from. Please if anyone knows where to change these things, help me. critical omission in INSTALL.debian-lenny
by Emrys Minnig 21 Dec '09

21 Dec '09

Section 1.3 in the INSTALL.debian-lenny file should conclude with 'sudo apt-get update'. I suspect that many of the numerous Zebra problems that have been surfacing on this mailing list may be a result of this oversight. I recently did an install where I was a bit too focused on the instructions and stupidly forgot to run this command after adding the Indexdata (Zebra) URLs to sources.list. As a result, Zebra was not installed. Even though I configured my Koha installation to run Zebra, I never received warnings that the dependencies were not present. In fact, rebuild_zebra.pl seemed to run without errors, but all catalogue searches yielded no results. After discovering that Zebra had not actually been installed, I ran 'apt-get update' and was then able to install it. Unfortunately, either due to it not being the correct version or it not being present during koha's installation process, there are permissions problems and koha-zebra-ctl.sh is not functioning properly. (I have to use 'sudo zebrasrv -f /etc/koha/koha-conf.xml &', which works but is obviously not ideal.) I probably shouldn't have missed this (unwritten) step after installing Koha successfully several times. I'm certainly am not complaining! Koha is frikkin epic, as are all those people putting so much of their lives into it. Happy holidays! Emrys

Field will NOT delete
by Lenora Oftedahl 21 Dec '09

21 Dec '09

Ok. I want to delete a field completely. I click on the Minus Sign next to the field and everything disappears. I click on SAVE and go to the Add Holdings page. When I click on the Marc tab, the field is listed with entries apparently made up by Koha. I've got all the subfields listed as 2 so I can see them. Nothing is in the fields and they all clear when I click on the Minus Sign. Koha 3.00.00.107 TIA Lenora A. "Place Hold" in OPAC
by Stacy Pober 21 Dec '09

21 Dec '09

In the catalog viewed by patrons, some of our Koha records for electronic books display "Place Hold" in the Action category and some of them do not. See the following search results for an example: <http://man.waldo.kohalibrary.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=NETLIBRARY+d…> The MARC fields are different for these records as some were loaded recently and some were migrated from Voyager. The record for "Doing business in a digital world" is an example of a book that shows the "Place Hold" action, and for an example of a record that does not show the "Place Hold" as an available action, see: "Architectural issues of Web-enabled electronic business". Since we have no way for patrons to place holds on ebooks from Koha, it would be good if the records for ebooks didn't have this option displayed. What MARC field/subfield data is used to deterimine whether the "Place Hold" action is or is not available for a particular record? -- Stacy Pober Information Alchemist Manhattan College Library Riverdale, NY 10471 stacy.pober(a)manhattan.edu
