Incorrect search links in biblio displays
by Braedon Vickers 28 Jan '10

28 Jan '10

Hello all, I am working on a Koha install for a school, and it appears to be generating search urls that it can't parse for some search links on biblio display pages, both in OPAC and staff client. Some search links work, such as author and series links in the staff client. They use "idx=<parameter>&q=<search string>" syntax. However, others, such as the subject and additional author links in the staff client, and all I have come across so far in OPAC, use "q=<parameter>:<search string>" syntax and do not work. The search script doesn't seem to parse the string to extract the parameter, and instead does a keyword search for the whole thing. This obviously gives in no results for single word search strings, and incorrect results for multi-word. Is this likely to be a configuration issue, or should it be reported as a bug? The Koha installation is 3.00.05, upgraded from 3.00.01, through 3.00.04, running on Debian. It uses noZebra searching. thanks, Braedon Vickers -- TechnologyWise Ltd, Tauranga, NZ braedon(a)tw.co.nz www.technologywise.co.nz ph: +64 (0)7 571 1060 fax: +64 (0)7 571 1061

3.0.4 - opac-detail.pl crashes when more than 1 item for a biblio number
by Franck Magron 28 Jan '10

28 Jan '10

We upgraded recently to 3.0.4 and noticed that OPAC was broken (blank page) for some bibliographic records. We just found that opac-detail.pl crashes when the record is associated to more than one item, could reproduce it by adding/removing items and fixed it for now by only taking the first item of @all_items in opac-detail.pl The crash generates glibc memory error which seems to be linked to HTML/Template/Pro/Pro.so *** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/perl: realloc(): invalid next size: 0x0b222658 *** ======= Backtrace: ========= /lib/libc.so.6[0xacbefd] /lib/libc.so.6(realloc+0x19d)[0xacdebd] /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/HTML/Templat e/Pro/Pro.so[0xf4614e] /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/HTML/Templat e/Pro/Pro.so[0xf48246] /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/HTML/Templat e/Pro/Pro.so[0xf489d7] /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/HTML/Templat e/Pro/Pro.so(tmplpro_exec_tmpl+0x239)[0xf48c19] /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/HTML/Templat e/Pro/Pro.so(XS_HTML__Template__Pro_exec_tmpl_string+0x19b)[0xf41b6b] /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/CORE/libperl.so(Perl_pp_ent ersub+0x40d)[0x19851d] (...) Is the problem reproduced by other 3.0.4 users ? How could it be fixed properly ? Regards Franck

5-digit order numbers
by Kohn, Karen 28 Jan '10

28 Jan '10

Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to make the order numbers start over with each basket, so they'd go "1,2,3..." Currently our orders are numbered continuously across the baskets, and all the order numbers are 5 digits long. Even if you don't know how to change this, could you tell us if your order numbering works differently from ours? That way I'll know it's at least possible. Thanks! Re: [Koha] Help- 3M RFID and Koha

We looked casually at Bibliotheca a couple of years ago. I was nominally more interested in it than some others because it didn't require YAWS (Yet Another Windows Server). Looking at the web site again now I also see they have a good worldwide representation. http://www.bibliotheca-rfid.com Greg Greg Lawson Rolling Hills Consolidated Library 1912 N. 3.0.4 Upgrade problem(s)
by Chris Morrison 27 Jan '10

27 Jan '10

I upgraded from 3.0.0 to 3.0.4 (running Zebra 2.0.43 before and after) following these<http://lists.katipo.co.nz/public/koha/2009-July/019328.html>instructions. The initial upgrade did not work until I installed YAML, IPC::Cmd, and Digest::SHA from CPAN. The system now works for the most part, except some records generate a 404 error. This does not happen in the working 3.0.0 system. I checked the koha-error_log, and found the following: File does not exist: /usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs/favicon.ico I also checked the koha-opac-error_log and found the following: ======= Memory map: ========, referer: http://koha-test.lrs.edu/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=angels 08048000-0814d000 r-xp 00000000 08:01 337445 /usr/bin/perl, referer: http://koha-test.lrs.edu/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=angels There are a couple dozen of those that were generated at the same time (5:33:36). I found these errors following the memory map errors: Premature end of script headers: opac-detail.pl, referer: http://koha-test.lrs.edu/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=angels HTML::Template::Pro:in TMPL_LOOP at pos 232:, referer: http://koha-test.lrs.edu/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=angels PARAM:LOOP:next_loop:hash pointer was expected but not found, referer: http://koha-test.lrs.edu/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=angels I should note this problem only seems to occur on some records that have Amazon info, and that it doesn't seem to happen at all when Amazon features are turned off and replaced with Google jackets (although the records that actually do work that contact Amazon content don't display that content :( ). This <http://old.nabble.com/Problem-with-amazon-data-td25358032.html>individual seemed to have a similar problem, but there was no follow-up that I could find. I rebuilt Zebra and the problem is still there. Any thoughts on how to fix it? Thanks, Chris Morrison

Collecting Money as a Group
by Nicole Engard 27 Jan '10

27 Jan '10

I just found this new tool (I know there are others already in exisitence - but thought I'd share this one too) that lets you get together as a group to raise funds for things. https://www.wepay.com/ This might be something that Koha users might want to look at to share expenses for dev costs. It's still very new - private beta - but you know me, I like sharing things I find. Nicole

any acquisitions staff out there?
by Kohn, Karen 27 Jan '10

27 Jan '10

Hello again, My acquisitions technician was wondering if there are any other acquisitions staff or librarians using Koha who would be willing to swap questions and tips. I think she'd prefer a few personal contacts to emailing the whole listserv, so I offered to ask around. Thanks. Karen Kohn Collection Development Manager Landman Library Arcadia University 450 S.
