my e-mails keep bouncing back to me.. argh! having a hard time sending my questions. just want to know, how and where do i start if i want to use koha? and what should i do first? our IT department show little interest. Can i possibly do it by myself

Zebra, Cron and OpenSuse

Hi all I am working Koha 3.00.05, Zebra and OpenSuse 11.2 and the ./rebuild_zebra.pl -a -b -z process is not automatic. When I try /etc/init.d/koha-zebra-daemon, it shows: koha@linux:/> /etc/init.d/koha-zebra-daemon start koha@linux:/> /etc/init.d/koha-zebraqueue-daemon start Starting Zebraqueue Daemon /etc/init.d/koha-zebraqueue-daemon: line 26: daemon: no se encontro la orden koha@linux:/> Also for innserv /etc/init.d/koha-zebra-daemon, it shows: insserv: warning: script 'koha-zebraqueue-daemon' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'koha-zebra-daemon' missing LSB tags and overrides Neither the cronjob "* * * * * /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -a -b -z" is working. Hi to all, my firm, CILEA, asked me to be listed in 'Pay for Support' web page. We think we have done enough to be listed here: -- we support for free the site of Italian users (http://www.koha.it) -- we have coordinated and work for the italian translation -- we are working on the documentation of SQL tables. -- we have Koha clients (but I can't write the name for NDA). -- we have a specific section of you web site for Koha support: (only italian): http://www.cilea.it/index.php?id=koha0 The web form in http://koha.org/support/pay-for-support/how-to-get-listed/application is broken. I know is still LibLime staff that has edit privileges, so where do I need to send the relevant information ? Do I need to use the mail 'approvals(a)koha.org' ? Are there other mails ? configs for small scale use

Recently the question of how to manage a large personal library (several of us have accumulated a few thousand books) came up on a sysadmin mailing list, and koha was mentioned as a possibility. In looking through the documentation I am seeing that it is a very powerful package, but I am not seeing good examples of how to get started for a small library. It's almost like the documentation assumes that you will be hiring a consulting team (or someone who has worked with it before) to do the initial setup and is mostly reference matrial for them to look up the details of a specific option. I am missing a 'getting started from scratch' type document. Has anyone put togeather a sample config that could be used for a single-location library? it would need to track inventory and do checkouts, but not budgeting or inter-library loans. David Lang

Budget in Acquisitions in koha-3.00.05 does not update

Dear all, On fresh installation of Ubuntu 9.10, koha-3.00.05, Budget does not get updated in acquisitions after receiving books. There is no error in /var/log/koha. But apache log has some errors in /var/log/apache2/ Here is the error. Can anyone suggest how to sort out this error. SQL for item held at one or two out of three libraries

Hi all We have three libraries. How does one ask for items that are: * held at a specific library * might be at one other of the three libraries * but definitely NOT held at all three libraries This is for stock rotation work. Thank you in advance. ~Perhaps just not held at all three libraries will cut the mustard - as the results will be small enough to eyeball (doing it by ccode and not onloan). Hi All Now the dates and venue are confirmed, and two sponsors found so far (more gratefully accepted) it's time to work on a bit more planning. With being Release Manager for 3.4 I am going to be flat out so I'm putting out a call for volunteers to help. Things you can help with, - We need to put out a call for presenters soon, people to manage that would be neat. - Talking to hotels/backpackers in Wellington, to see if we can get a group discount. - Content for the website - Hackfest organiser - Anything else you can think of Chris

At Binghamton University the Career Development Center is using Koha. They have about 800 items. The person doing all the day to day stuff has no library training but says she loves it and since we set her up and provided basic training she hasn't called us once about how to do something (it has been 6 months). Thus from my expierence running Koha is not a problem. I thought it was easy to set up, but I know ILSs and lamp applications so your milage may vary.
