Not matter what I change the value of the SubscriptionHistory preference to I'm not seeing any difference. I'm asking here before I report a bug because maybe it's just me overlooking something. Thanks Nicole

Questions about running bulkmarcimport.pl and rebuild_zebra.pl
by Otis, Perry W Civ USAF AETC AUL/LTIA 05 Mar '10

05 Mar '10

I just setup a Koha 3.0 system and am using bulkmarcimport.pl to import MARC records in batches of 80-90k records. After, running bulkmarcimport.pl on a batch of records I run rebuild_zebra.pl to index them. Rebuild_zebra.pl goes indexes both the new records and the records that have previously been imported. Is this the way it is supposed to work? Do I need to do something to have it only index the new records? Do I need to run rebuild_zebra.pl after each batch of records or can I bulk import all the batches and then run rebuild_zebra.pl once? Thanks. //SIGNED// PERRY OTIS Systems Librarian Muir S. Classification Scheme Questions
by Nicole Engard 05 Mar '10

05 Mar '10

I have 2 questions about classification sources: 1 - How does the classification source work in terms of sorting call numbers when you have multiple class schemes (like LC and SUDOC)? 2 - what is the purpose of filing rules? all i can add is a title and code…do they need some sort of code behind them to work? how do I know what the filing rules actually are for the default ones? Basically - I have no clue how to document the Classification Sources :) Thanks Nicole

Press Releases On Koha-Community.org Site
by Nate 05 Mar '10

05 Mar '10

Greetings everyone! With regard to the recent thread on press releases on the community site; we in no way intended to attempt to use the community site as a way to "loudly" proclaim which contracts we had signed, and we are apologize if it was taken that way. Our releases regarding new customers are there so that people know the community is growing, and who is joining it in that growth (this is why our headings always start with Y has partnered with X for Koha). I think that all of the suggestions made about separating the vendor PRs are great, and we will be happy with whichever course the community decides to take. Paul, I personally like your idea of using possibilities #2 and #3 together. In the meantime, we will hold our releases until we have all decided the best way to proceed, and can always retroactively add them to their proper home on the site. Thank you and have a great weekend! Best regards, -Nate Nathan A. Odd Apache problem during install...
by Scott Kushner 05 Mar '10

05 Mar '10

I'm getting this strange error when I try to do a new install. Software error: Can't connect to MySQL server on '192.XXX.X.XX' (110) at /root/koha/C4/Context.pm line 697. Compilation failed in require at /root/koha/C4/Auth.pm line 32. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /root/koha/C4/Auth.pm line 32. Compilation failed in require at /root/koha/mainpage.pl line 23. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /root/koha/mainpage.pl line 23. The Problem is that it's trying to find the "old" IP address above, and I've changed the Server's IP to a new address, changed virtual hosts, and ports.conf to point to the new IP, but it is still looking for the old ip address. Does Apache store it somewhere that I don't know about? Thanks for any help. Scott Kushner Information Technologies Middletown Public Library

Mobile Phone version of Opac using http://mobify.me
by Darrell Ulm 04 Mar '10

04 Mar '10

Hello, I've been working with http://mobify.me for the catalog. So far so good, this site allows you to pick and choose elements of the catalog, and then recognizes when a mobile device is being used and filters the catalog through the http://mobify.me profile. So far is is pretty easy, and there are only about 20 pages to setup through the http://mobify.me interface as well as a few CSS fixes on for certain elements. Once you are done with setup, apparently there just needs to be some javascript in the header to detect when a mobile device is being used. Has anyone else tried this or had any luck with other sites to make a mobile version of the catalog? p.s. I have not deployed this yet, but I am setting it up and it works pretty well. -Darrell Ulm

ldapserver question
by Brenner, Martin 04 Mar '10

04 Mar '10

Hello all, I have ldapserver set up on our Koha server and it was working really well. Then an admin password I had been using for the bind got changed. This actually made me realize that I was using a more powerful account than I needed, so I tried to change it to an ldap user that we had set-up already. Now, the problem is, ldap authentication is no longer working. The error is [error] [client 10.10.10.99] [Wed Mar 3 20:07:32 2010] opac-user.pl: LDAP Auth rejected : (cn=martin.brenner) gets 0 hits, referer: http://library.whitfieldschool.org/cgi-bin/koha/opac-user.pl There is no problem with the authentication of the ldap user (the reason I know this is that I had the password wrong at first and it left another error saying so.) to bind with the server, its just not accessing the user accounts in the tree. If we plug the admin account back in, everything works fine. The only thing different with this account is that the admin account is higher up the tree. The ldap user account is in the same level as all of the user accounts. From what I've heard from someone that knows LDAP much better than I do, the level shouldn't matter. I would just create an account one up the tree, but I've already got the account I thought I needed. Any ideas? Koha 3.0.5 on Ubuntu 9.04 by the way. Martin
