Re: [Koha] ldapserver question
by Scott Owen 04 Mar '10

You may need to put in the full path to the user (cn=username,ou=orgUnit,o=organization) I would download the Softerra LDAP browsr (version 2.6 = free) from http://www.ldapadministrator.com/download.htm and try using it to connect with your credentials. It is a great troubleshooting tool for LDAP. The user also needs to have browse and read access to the LDAP tree. >>> Brenner, Martin<martin.brenner(a)whitfieldschool.org> 3/4/2010 11:18 AM >>> Hello all, I have ldapserver set up on our Koha server and it was working really well. Then an admin password I had been using for the bind got changed. This actually made me realize that I was using a more powerful account than I needed, so I tried to change it to an ldap user that we had set-up already. Now, the problem is, ldap authentication is no longer working. The error is [error] [client 10.10.10.99] [Wed Mar 3 20:07:32 2010] opac-user.pl: LDAP Auth rejected : (cn=martin.brenner) gets 0 hits, referer: http://library.whitfieldschool.org/cgi-bin/koha/opac-user.pl There is no problem with the authentication of the ldap user (the reason I know this is that I had the password wrong at first and it left another error saying so.) to bind with the server, its just not accessing the user accounts in the tree. If we plug the admin account back in, everything works fine. The only thing different with this account is that the admin account is higher up the tree. The ldap user account is in the same level as all of the user accounts. From what I've heard from someone that knows LDAP much better than I do, the level shouldn't matter. I would just create an account one up the tree, but I've already got the account I thought I needed. Any ideas? Koha 3.0.5 on Ubuntu 9.04 by the way. Martin

Problem adding 2 or more items to a record
by jay 04 Mar '10

04 Mar '10

Hello everyone, I'm currently working to get Koha installed for our small library, which has about 20,000 books. I have been able to get Koha installed successfully, but have had a probem when a record has 2 or more items added to it. We imported all of our MARC data, but the items did not import over. So, at that point we decided to do some testing and manually add some items to a few records. We found that when we add 2 or more items to a single record, when we click that record in the OPAC search results, we get a 404 page. But, if we remove those items, leaving 0 items or 1 item, then the link works fine. I have tried the following install scenarios, and had the same results each time. Koha 3.00.04_fixed on CentOS 5.2 x86 Koha 3.00.04_fixed on Ubuntu 8.04 x86 Koha 3.02.00-alpha on CentOS 5.2 x86 Koha 3.02.00-alpha on Ubuntu 8.04 x86 Our backend is a Linux MySQL 5 server, completely different box. With each version, I left the database intact and just pointed the Koha install at it. I posted a backtrace on IRC yesterday to see if someone could help. We get the following backtrace on 3.00.04 on both CentOS and Ubuntu http://paste.workbuffer.org/4 I'm really confused at this point, and am not really sure what to do next. If we can't add more than 1 item to a record, then the software really won't be able to help us. Can someone please offer some help or maybe some pointers where I could troubleshoot further? I've only been using the software for 2 days so I'm still learning about it. We would love to have this in our Library. Thank! Jay

Strange behavior: NO_LIBRARY_SET
by Leonardo Bruno 04 Mar '10

04 Mar '10

Hi guys! This list has solved all my problems until now. So let's go again :) It's not a terrible error but even if I choose a library in logon page, I get a 'NO_LIBRARY_SET' message on the right top corner of my screen? When I try to do something like a search, Koha asks me to set the library. Does someone know what is this? In phase 1 of this research project, we are collecting data regarding the expectations of librarians for technical support and the available channels of technical support. We will identify the expectations of librarians about technical support for ILS (both open source software and proprietary software). And, we will assess the effectiveness of the current channels and processes for technical support in satisfying the expectations of the librarians. At this stage, we are looking for participants interested in contributing to this study. If you would be willing to participate in the study that would be greatly appreciated. We had it for quite a long time. The problem for us was that the zebra daemon was not running. You need to do: zebrasrv –f /etc/koha/koha-conf.xml Then leave the window open. If you close the window (as we were first told to do) it doesn’t work. You can then rebuild the index. (This is what the replies usually say.) /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra –v –b –a (We actually had to do ./rebuild_zebra.pl –v –b –a in that directory.) When you rebuild the index you should see it count through the records – at least at the start. If it doesn’t, it’s not indexing properly. I hope this helps. It was very frustrating for us. Re: [Koha] Ordinary Search into catalog
by Frances Sandeman 03 Mar '10

Hi Leonardo, I share your frustrations as we too have had the same problem with Koha. One reason why this may be happening could be "diacritics" in the record that you downloaded. eg. accents above an author's name, apostrophes, etc. If your koha isn't set up to be able to recognise and interpret these diacritics then the downloaded record will contaminate others. We have the same problem with the word Geology because I downloaded a record that had Diacritics in it and it also contained the word Geology so I can't retrieve any records if I just type in Geology as part of the title. Our IT person is running a test koha database and has managed to fix this problem on the test version. As staged records can't be deleted from the reservoir, you may need to get someone with the technical know how to "roll back" the downloaded record that's causing the problem, meaning to go back in time and restore the reservoir to what it was prior to downloading the record I hope this makes sense to you! Error trying to do a ordinary search into catalog
by Leonardo Bruno 03 Mar '10

Hi people! I am using Koha 3.00.5 in Debian Linux box. My configs are attached. Everything looks fine, but I can't search anything in my catalog. When I type something, say a topic or subject like 'engineering', or part of book title I get this error message: Can't call method "as_usmarc" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Search.pm line 2386. Note that this subjects and books does exists in my catalog. As I sid, everything looks fine.... Any ideas?? Thanks in advance.
