Koha and EndNote
by Kohn, Karen 12 Mar '10

12 Mar '10

Hello, PTFS is helping us with our Koha OPAC right now, and we have a question about the "Save Records" feature on the right side of the title display screen. I was told this feature is useful if you want to import a record into a citation management system, like EndNote. We'd like to label the options more helpfully, but I don't know what to tell people. The options are: MODS (XML) Dublin Core (XML) MARCXML MARC (non-Unicode/MARC8) MARC (UniCode/UTF-8) Does anyone know which of these is the right format for saving a file that I want to import into EndNote? I'll try asking our EndNote vendor also, as it might be more of a question about their product than about Koha. Thanks if anyone can help. Urgent help - Duplicate Title show on OPAC Search
by Akin Adigun 12 Mar '10

12 Mar '10

I am using koha 3.0.1 on open suse 11.1 and nozebra. I noticed that koha is dupilcating titles on the OPAC search. The books under each duplicate are the same (same barcode and other marc field). I check the biblio table at the backend on the database (mysql) and find just one instance of the title. I also use the catalogue search I found that only one instance of the record. I rebuild the index by running the ./rebuild_nozebra in the migration_tools and the situation remain the same. Any help will be appreciated. thanks

Removing duplicate bibs
by Otis, Perry W Civ USAF AETC AUL/LTIA 12 Mar '10

12 Mar '10

Hi all, I just got done importing my bib records into Koha, but due to working on some issues with the holdings, I have now duplicated all the bibs in my database. In fact, I suspect that they may be triplicated, with at least one set of bibs not having holdings data. What I need to do now is figure out a way to remove the duplicates. Does anybody know how to do this? I would even be content to remove all the records and re-import, but I'm not sure how to go about doing a batch delete. Thanks for any help. //SIGNED// PERRY OTIS Systems Librarian Muir S. Fairchild Research Information Center DSN 493-6498 Comm 334-953-8081

Trying to import bibs with holdings
by Otis, Perry W Civ USAF AETC AUL/LTIA 11 Mar '10

In Koha 3.0.02, I am trying to import a batch of bib records exported from a Voyager system. I want to include the holdings, but Voyager exports the holdings separate from the bib record. It appears that Koha doesn't work like that but looks for the holdings data in (I think) a 942 field in the bib record. Does anybody know of a way for me to move the data in from the 852 in the holding record into a 942 in the bib record? I've been tearing my hair out over this and thought that I had come up with a solution using sed, but can't figure out how to deal with multiple holdings. Duplicate records showing up after z39.50 import
by Dillon Moore 11 Mar '10

11 Mar '10

Hi everyone, I'm using Koha Version 3.00.01.005 on Debian. We've been trying to re-catalogue some of our books. To do this, the cataloguer brings up the current record in the catalogue, deletes all items, then deletes the record. He then searches for the book through z39.50 and imports a new record. After making whatever changes are necessary, he saves the record, then adds an item. The problem we've had is that duplicate records with no attached items are sometimes (not always) showing up. These are not the old records stripped of items - they are duplicates of the new records from z39.50, always without items, and sometimes missing quite a few of the MARC fields (ex. in one case there were no fields above 3xx). I turned on the cataloguing log, and it looks like a duplicate record is being added just when the cataloguer adds a single new record: 2010-03-10 20:28:04 31 CATALOGUING DELETE biblio 6158 2010-03-10 20:33:12 31 CATALOGUING ADD biblio 6160 biblio 2010-03-10 20:33:12 31 CATALOGUING ADD biblio 6161 biblio Anyone have any ideas about what might be causing this? Re: [Koha] no item type and Not Renewable
by Marty 11 Mar '10

11 Mar '10

I seem to have found a way to make things work, but it's terribly labor intensive, so I hope there is a better way. When I click on a search result it gets me to the details for that item. I now click on barcode, which gets me to item details. Now I click on edit items, and after arriving on that page click immediately on save changes, without changing anything. Now I have 2 lines with items showing at the top of the page. I can delete the first one (which is wrong anyway), and after doing a rebuild_zebra -b -w it all shows up fine and working. But to do this for about 6000 items is a bit much... --- On Tue, 3/9/10, Marty <ontariowolf64(a)yahoo.com> wrote: From: Marty <ontariowolf64(a)yahoo.com> Subject: [Koha] no item type and Not Renewable To: "koha koha" <koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz> Received: Tuesday, March 9, 2010, 6:55 PM Finally I have a running Zebra version of Koha. Very powerful search feature I must say. Of course I still have some issues, the main one being that nothing is renewable. Not a single thing, although all our items are at least 3 times renewable. The other thing is that my itemtypes do not show up. When I am on the check out page, I got the following headers; Due Date, Title, Item type, Checked out on, Call no, Charge, Price, Renew, Check in Under the headers are all the appropriate values, except under Item type, which is blank (always!) and under Renew, where it says 'Not Renewable' (for everything!) and 'Not Renewable' seems usually preceded by the number 2. As far as I know all the settings are correct. Everything else seems to work properly so far. Thanks for any ideas and help, Marty Koha Version 3.00.04.019, Debian Leny __________________________________________________________________ Looking for the perfect gift?
