Hi, Thankyou all for your help and answers. I can use these as future references. The problem was clicking on the import button *more than once. * My work colleague didn't think anything was happening as it was taking a while to import the records because it was quite a large batch so she *clicked on the import button more than once *which created duplicates half way through the import process. It was confusing because whilst I was editing and checking these records there was only one bib record for each duplicate and the correct number of records had been imported. When it came time to revert the records,* I clicked on the revert button more than once.* When our IT cleaned up and reindexed the system and we started the process again it worked properly as we only clicked on the import and revert button ONCE! serials subscription fields

I'm new at this Koha stuff, and we're still fiddling with a test catalog using version 3.01.00.061 We barcode individual issues of journals when they arrive, but I'm trying to de-clutter the display of all those item records - one for each barcode - under the bibliographic record for the serial title. So ... I'm wondering about inserting the barcode in the "Notes" field when I "receive" [check in] an issue. That would hide all the item records under the "Subscriptions" tab rather than showing them on the initial bibliographic record screen in the OPAC. But I believe we would want to be able to search for those barcodes from time to time. So I what I want to know is: is that "Notes" field I referred to searchable, or can it be made so, in the staff mode? Thanks much! Kurt A. Amazon enhanced content issues - similar items displaying in staff client but not opac

Hello all, We're running Koha 3.01.00.061 and I am having issues with adding enhanced content from Amazon - book jackets are fine on both the staff client and the opac but so far I am having no luck getting similar items to appear on the opac record even though I can see them on the record when viewed through the staff client. The fact that they're appearing on the staff client indicates that it is not an issue with the private key requirement and I've checked that I've switched on all the relevant preferences re: the opac display in enhanced content and opac. We have a collection that is primarily grey literature, so most of our stock will not be found on Amazon but where we do have that crossover, it would be quite nice to show the opac users which books are similar. Any thoughts? follow-up to redundancies & error 404

Good morning, I just wanted to give you feedback on the resolution to my redundant records and bad links (error 404s) problem that I posted about last week. The many responses about zebra reindexing made sense, so I followed Chris Cormack's advice about dropping the zebra database, recreating it using the zebraidx commands, then running the rebuild zebra utility. This worked perfectly, and his instructions were very explicit. Thanks, Chris C! I also want to thank Chris Nighswonger again for the advice about dropping the mysql database in order to fix the earlier problems that I had, stemming from the fact that the sample data from the initial Koha installation were interfering with my library data. This seemed to clear up a lot of nagging problems in my database. Thanks Chris N! And thanks to everyone who weighed in on both of these questions. Preventing vandalism of the Koha demo sites

Everyone, As many of you know, the Koha demos currently linked to koha-community.orgare hosted by ByWater Solutions. This morning we noticed some offensive vandalism on the main staff page. It has been removed, but it's gotten us thinking about how we can secure the demos better against such things in the future. Current thinking is that we should set the database up to refresh from a clean copy every hour. This would limit exposure to offensive damage to a brief window, but would also mean that anyone taking a tour and adding test records may lose them midway through their explorations. A brief note to this effect should be put both outside and inside the demo, but it would still prove annoying. Rather than acting unilaterally upon a community resource, we thought it would be best to get the community's opinions on how best to handle this. Is an hour too narrow a window? Should we only refresh certain tables (like systempreferences) and leave others (like biblios or borrowers)? Are there other methods we should consider? My goal is to get this taken care of by the end of the day. If good ideas come in after that, though, I am of course willing to change course. Cheers, -Ian Walls Lead Developer ByWater Solutions

Problem with perl parser when adding a notice

Hello, I'm using koha-2.2.9 with mysql-5.0, apache-2.2, and perl-5.10. Everything was working fine until now. When I try to add a notice with some special character (é, è, ö, ...) i get an error 500. I think that the issue come from the perl parser(s). Problem with diacritics in Patron names

Dear all, We are using Koha 3.0004019 with Zebra running. We also have a self lending system running which works fine most of the time. Patrons with special characters (accent grave, accent acute, umlaut, ...) in their names are not able to use the self lending system. Patron data is updated via LDAP. So, removing accents or umlauts from their names isn't an option because this will be overwritten each time they login to Koha. I cannot figure out, how to solve this problem. Help needed in KOHA 3.0.3

Hello all. I am using KOHA 3.0.3 in Debian Lenny Stable. There are few things that are troubling me. Following are some of the issues: 1. We are converting WIN-ISIS data to KOHA, which results in creation of records in KOHA but not Items. We have to manually add items for each records. Is it possible to create at least one item with auto barcode or barcode as acquisition number in KOHA. 2. If 1 is not possible then is there any way to copy the "Acquisition number" field of a record to the "Barcode" field of item of the record after importing is done or while importing data. 3. While printing labels for books and patron cards, it makes a PDF of the label. We have label printing machine, how are we supposed to print the label through the machine instead of PDF. This machine doesnot use A4 size paper, rather it uses roll paper as telephone billing machines do. I'm confused as how to make this machine print the labels. Please Help.
