Moving an item to a different biblio
by Steven Vincent - TechnologyWise 18 Apr '10

18 Apr '10

Hi all We have a need to shift a number of items from one biblio to another, and have searched for an option to do this, but can't find anything. Other than edit the records in MySQL, is there something we are missing that can be used for this? -- Regards Steven Steven Vincent Director TechnologyWise Ltd

"No Items Available" incorrectly showing in search
by Steven Vincent - TechnologyWise 18 Apr '10

18 Apr '10

Hi We have a strange issue with a new installation where certain items are showing as "No items available" in the search, but in the detail screen, the status is blank, and the checkout history shows "has never been checked out". The database shows fields "notforloan, damaged, itemlost, wthdrawn, onloan" as "0, 0, 0, 0, 0000-00-00" respectively. I've included some actual results below. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where the search is picking this up from? And is it related to the detail Status showing as blank, rather than "Available". Is there another data field used in the calculation of 'available'? (Although other items have a blank 'detail' status yet their 'search' status is 'available') Regards Steven Steven Vincent Director TechnologyWise Ltd *=== As per the search result === * 1. Clearing off server
by Nicole Engard 18 Apr '10

18 Apr '10

Hi all, A month or so ago I had a chat on IRC with some of you about an error I was having where mysql couldn't start on my demo system. http://stats.workbuffer.org/irclog/koha/2010-03-08#i_407411 I am having that issue again. I know I need to do a new install and alot more space, but I don't have time right now because I have a lot of travel coming up. So what I'm wondering is what files I can delete in the log folder - which logs can I get rid of? I have already done as jdavidb said last time and purged the *.gz files. I have a few others files that are pretty darn big. I just need to know what's safe to get rid of. Thanks in advance! Re: [Koha] Journal articles and analytical records
by Elaine Bradtke 17 Apr '10

Regarding the subfields in 773, I'm using $x ISSN and $z ISBN when we have this information, plus $o for the accession number of the item. A lot of what we have doesn't have International Standard numbers for one reason or another, but it all has an accession number. I haven't worried too much about the display at the moment, it seemed to look ok in the test runs. The one thing I couldn't get to function was a link between the 773 field and the parent item, but we're a bit behind in installing Koha releases*, and this may work better in the newer ones. Perhaps we should form a group on analytics and pool our information and techniques? With an idea of putting together a little wiki?

Modifying 942.2 field
by Paula Corman 17 Apr '10

We need to modify the 942.2 values to reflect the fact that for our AV collection we will be using our own classification number rather than LC or DDC. Has anyone done this and can you tell me how to do it? Thanks. Paula Corman Musical Instrument Museum Phoenix, AZ

Unable to place holds
by Erik Lewis 16 Apr '10

16 Apr '10

3.01.00.124 Linux ubuntu 2.6.31-20-generic #58-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 12 04:38:19 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux I discovered that I could not place holds in the OPAC this morning, this was the first time on this install I had played with holds. I went to the staff client and discovered that I couldn't place holds there either. Though the error message is much more detailed. Cannot place hold: this record has no items attached. However when I click on items I see the items attached to the record and the status, plus I can checkout the items. Any thoughts on where to go and what to investigate/ In that its telling me that I have no items attached to the record. I know this is false because I can checkout items and I can see the items on the MARC display. Any ideas for troubleshooting this?
