Managing per item selection costs / freight / processing cost per item in Koha
by Joann Ransom 22 Apr '10

22 Apr '10

Morning folks, Todays question is : How do other libraries manage per item selection charges / freight / postage and packaging etc in terms of the acquisitions budget? In 2.2.9 we enter the selection charge for the entire invoice, along with the number of items it is to be spread over, when we are entering the invoice number. This then spreads the selection charge over all the items being received on that invoice, adding a poortion of the selection charge to the actual cost of tyhe item. This then carries over to the budgets and ensures that we are accounting for the true cost of buying that item. Koha 3.2 has no concept or mechanism for doing that. So how do / are other 3.2 libraries managing this? Or is this something this an enhancement? Cheers Jo.

XML::LibXSLT module, it's dependent on libxslt 1.1.18 or higher....

Hi all, I'm trying to install the Perl XML::LibXSLT module however, it's dependent on libxslt 1.1.18 or higher. The centos repositories seems to only have 1.1.17 packages available for libxslt. As you can see here below: [root@library ~]# rpm -qa |grep libxslt libxslt-1.1.17-2.el5_2.2 libxslt-devel-1.1.17-2.el5_2.2 libxslt-python-1.1.17-2.el5_2.2 [root@library ~]# cd XML-LibXSLT-1.59 [root@library XML-LibXSLT-1.59]# perl Makefile.PL running xslt-config... ok looking for -lxslt... yes looking for -lexslt... yes running xslt-config... failed XML::LibXSLT needs libxslt version 1.1.18 or higher Could someone help point me in the right direction, do I need to update libxslt 1.1.17 to 1.1.18? Anything at this point would be very helpful. Re: [Koha] Springer ebook records + Zebra Indexing and Searching
by Susan Mustafa 21 Apr '10

Dear Stacy, At the moment, I did an import of the 14,000 records MARC file into Koha-Test. I did a rebuild_zeba -r -a -b <-- I believe this clears all of the previous indexes and does indexing from 0. Now, I know that there is a record called [Extreme Sports]. This record is from Springer, and it is shown under biblios table in MySQL Db after I finished importing the Marc file into Koha. However once rebuilding zebra, searching for this record returns 0. Some springer records are searchable, but others Koha can't find. Does this mean that Zebra didn't index them [I see no errors when I do rebuild] OR does this mean that something else is wrong? I did random checking of some records, obviously there is no way for me to check and see that all 14,000 RECORDs were indexed and Searchable? OR is there? You know this better than me. Kindly bear with me on this. I might need your help since you did the Springer Import before. Best Regards, Now once I go into the MySQL DB, I see that the record for example [Extreme Sports] exists On Tue, Mar 9, 2010 at 12:35 AM, Stacy Pober <stacy.pober(a)manhattan.edu>wrote: > I loaded about 17,000 Springer ebooks into our catalog. Re: [Koha] Can Koha run digital library collections

We started an evaluation of Greenstone for our digital collection, then also started evaluating DSpace after we experienced some dissatisfaction with Greenstone. Frankly, I think DSpace is much better in terms of it's feature set and ease of use than Greenstone, and that's what we will be using. I think that a app like DSpace designed specifically for digital data does a better job of displaying the content in it's web interface, which the public sees and uses, than a standard ILS does in an OPAC. http://www.dspace.org/ Greg Lawson Rolling Hills Consolidated Library 1912 N. As I understand the process, a query is done for the authority and then one for each authority found. The first query is ok but all the biblio queries generate an error in zebrasrv: 22:06:36-14/04 zebrasrv(18) [request] Auth idPass kohaadmin - 22:06:36-14/04 zebrasrv(18) [request] Init OK - ID:81/81 Name:ZOOM-C/YAZ Version:1.154/3.0.34 22:06:36-14/04 zebrasrv(18) [request] Search biblios ERROR 114 1 1+0 RPN @attrset Bib-1 @attr "1=Koha-Auth-Number" 2 22:06:36-14/04 zebrasrv(18) [session] Connection closed by client I've tried reindexing everything, even physically removing the zebradb files, reinstalling another zebra version with no effet. Merci par avance. whatis kohaclone, C4, and HEAD

Hello all, As I slowly look under the hood of our koha installation I end up with many questions floating over my head. I am sure that this only happens to me :-). Anyway, I am creating a cheat sheet that references all the directories that relate directly to koha, on my server. Today I am particularly interested to know the purpose of /opt/kohaclone/.. and /opt/kohaclone/C4/.. (I also see /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/..) Perhaps kohaclone is a mirror of some sort - which makes me wonder what process initiates the mirror, eg. cron, and why I need this mirror. I once read that C4 related to work the kiwis were doing long ago, during early development years, and has some humor attached. In 2010, it seems that C4 continues to be central to the program, but I'd like to know how it relates to the rest of the Koha progam. Finally, what does HEAD mean, and where can I find it? I think it has something to do with the git versioning system used by developers to collectively keep track of improvements and bugfixes... I've seen the folks on IRC use this term. I would guess that HEAD means the most current stable branch of the software program. Could you have a HEAD for 3.0.x and HEAD for 3.2.x? Here -- http://git.koha.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=Koha;a=summary -- I find multiple HEADS, but I presume that the "master" head may be the one typically referenced. For those of you still reading this epistle, today I discovered that a searchable! public log exists for the #koha IRC: http://stats.workbuffer.org/irclog/koha/today. Yet another mine of Koha information... Thanks very much!
