NHUSD relied on the stellar support available from the Koha community as well as internal resources to successfully migrate nearly 200,000 items to Koha for 13 schools. NHUSD serves nearly 13,000 K-12 students and their families in the San Francisco Bay area. Inquiries about the project may be made to the Director of Technology at NHUSD, Chris Hobbs (chobbs(a)nhusd.k12.ca.us) Nîmes public libraries now live with Koha by Paul Poulain BibLibre announce that at the beginning of July, Nîmes Public Libraries successfully migrated from Loris to Koha and are now live. “We are very happy with Koha. We used a lot of free software for technical purposes, but it’s the first time we move to a free software for the libraries” said Niels Lor, IT Project Manager at Nîmes. “Nîmes perfectly understand that Free Software is also a matter of sharing, that’s why they are sponsoring many improvements. Some of them are already written, and will be integrated in koha 3.4, some are still underway” said Paul Poulain, BibLibre CEO. A : Use this code in “intranetuserjs” system preference : $(document).ready(function() { $(“li$gt;form#searchform”).parent().after(“$lt;li$gt;$lt;a href=’/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/search.pl’$gt;Advanced Search$lt;/a$gt;$lt;/li$gt;”); }); It adds a link to advanced search right after the simple search textbox. Spine Label Customizations by David Schuster You can adjust the font/etc.. with the new quick spine labeler! I wanted BOLD and LARGE on my 1×1 Dymo spine. hmmm headers, footers and 10 labels came out… time to investigate… So this is what I had to do. 1. I had to go into Firefox and make a couple of modifications 2. File page Setup 3. margins&header/Footer tab and change all 4 to 0.0 4. set the header footer drop down options to blank. (Thanks to INCOLSA for these tips) Then in the SpineLabelFormat system preference I put the following. <itemcallnumber><copynumber> After I saved it BAM! a bold spine label on my Dymo 1×1 label… Way cool – thanks Chris N for this feature. Now I’m working on how I can get that on the item level screen after we add the item! ENHANCEMENT! I had to tweak some of my settings but it works! Koha Events Thank you to our sponsors! by Nicole C. Engard With KohaCon right around the corner, it is time to give recognition to our amazing sponsors. * Biblibre * Butte Public Library * Bywater Solutions * Calyx * Catalyst IT * Equinox * Horowhenua District Council * Horowhenua Library Trust * KohaAloha * Libriotech * The Library * Xercode Without these sponsors KohaCon would not only not be free, but not be possible! Join me in thanking them all for their generosity and dedication to Koha and open source. 6 Weeks ’til KohaCon – Are you registered? by Russell Garlick KohaCon10 starts on October 25th in Wellington, New Zealand. We have an exciting line up of speakers on a range of topics related to Koha and Open Source and Open Standards in libraries. See our programme for details. KohaCon10 is a free conference (that is right it will cost nothing for you to attend), but you still need to register to reserve your place. Registrations from the international Koha community have been very strong. Over half of all available spaces are already taken. If you have been holding off on the premise that you will have plenty of time to do this later, then please register now. Please do not rely on there being free spaces on the day. Registration is quick and easy via the website. http://www.kohacon10.org.nz/2010/registration/ We look forward to seeing you in Wellington. Powhiri at Kawiu Marae by Joann Ransom Koha Conference attendees are invited to Levin on the 28th October for a very special event. The Library Trust is honoured that Muaupoko, the tangata whenua or people of the land, are hosting us at Kawiu Marae following the Mayoral reception in Council chambers. This is a first for the Library Trust and the purpose of this post is to encourage Conference attendees to join us for what will be a very special evening. We will be welcomed onto the Marae in a traditional manner. This will include the karanga where we are called on the Marae, a wero or taiaha challenge (to see if we come in peace), the laying down of koha, speeches, waiata (songs) a hakari or meal and kapa haka entertainment (singing, poi, haka). Information about the various components of the powhiri and what to expect can be found here. Read more… Newsletter edited by Nicole C. Engard, Koha Documentation Manager. Re: [Koha] Importing multiple items into a record
by Scott Owen 15 Sep '10

"multiple copies of a book appear as independent records" This first thing I would do is use MARCedit to tear apart 2 of these independent records from your old system and examine them closely. Find out where and how they are different. Once you find the difference it my become apparent how to fix the problem. Here are some rough notes I kept on migrating from Koha 2.29 to 3.xx You may need to use much the same process to create the correct 952 field entries. (in this case I create a temporary 998 field and use it to rebuild the 952 field.) ************************************************* Koha 2.29 export =952 \\$bPINE$d$kF HAR$p70268$r{dollar}12.89$t2$u269 =952 \\ $9 --- price $bPINE ---holding branch $d -- Date Acquired $kF HAR -- itemcallnumber $p70267 --- barcode $r -- replacementprice $t1 --- copy number $u268 --- URI $v -- dateacces $w -– replacementpricedate KOHA 3 EXPORT =952 \\$70$kF HAN$p70262$r{dollar}13.99$40$00$911$bPINE$yBOOK$10$u263$dPINE$t2 KOHA3 KOHA3 CODE action on KOHA229 $7—- 0 Not for loan -- $c-- F HAN Shelving location code --$k Copy to $o, rpl w/$c $p—- 74255 barcode --$p SAME $r—- 2010-8-7 Date last seen --$v COPY TO $s, rpl w/$r $4—- 0 Damaged status -- $0—- 0 Withdrawn status -- $9—- 12 Koha itemnumber (autogenerated) -- $b—- PINE branchcode --$b SAME $y—- BOOK Koha item type --BK (must match) $1—- 0 Lost status -- $u—- 4264 Uniform Resource Identifier --$u SAME $d—2007-8-17 Date acquired --$d DELETE $t—- 6 Copy number --$t SAME $o-- F HAN Koha Full call number -- $v–- cost replacement price --$r REPLACE WITH A $v COPY FIELD 952 to 998 SWAP FIELDS 998$k to 952$o ADD TO EXISTING FIELD SWAP FIELDS 998$v COPY TO 952$s ADD TO EXISTING FIELD Replace =952(.*)\$k =952$1$c =952(.*)\$r =952$1$v =952(.*)\$s =952$1$r EDIT subfield: Field 952 Subfield y Field data BK Replace with BK Check—add subfield if not present EDIT subfield: Field 952 Subfield a Field data PINE Replace with PINE Check—add subfield if not present EDIT subfield: Field 952 Subfield d Field data Remove text EDIT subfield: Field 952 Subfield v Field data Remove text SWAP FIELDS 998$r to 952$v ADD TO EXISTING FIELD DELETE field 998 ****************************************** >>> Vikram Vincent<vincentvikram(a)gmail.com> 9/13/2010 12:03 PM >>> Hello! I am migrating data from a old library system to Koha. Right now multiple copies of a book appear as independent records. How do I display them as multiple items in a single record. Something like {Check_out; item--;Check_in; item++} I saw that the mrk file record needs to have data with multiple 952$p values. How do I automate the matching process? Thanks. How to export patrons from 2.2.9?
by David M. Bucknell 14 Sep '10

Hello, We're setting up another instance of 3.2 and have imported records into it from 2.2.9. However, we haven't found a way to export the patrons from 2.2.9. Does anyone remember how to do this? PTFS/LibLime - misconfigured koha-community.org DNS records
by Mason James 14 Sep '10

14 Sep '10

Hi Folks, Is someone at PTFS/LibLime willing to correct the DNS records of... koha-community.net koha-community.com kohacommunity.org kohacommunity.us and point these to their correct destination of koha-community.org. All above DNS records seems to be incorrectly configured, and re-direct to a generic network-solutions webpage :/ If not... Is someone at PTFS/LibLime willing to explain to the Koha community why the DNS records will not be corrected? Cheers, Mason. -- KohaAloha, NZ.

need a connector to wiki from main page
by Lori Bowen Ayre 14 Sep '10

I just tried to get back to the great list of RFCs that are on the wiki sub-domain and was unable to get there from koha-community.org. Shouldn't there be a link to the wiki stuff? And how does one decide what goes on the wiki versus what goes on the main domain? There seems to be a lot of overlap in some categories (documentation, get involved/participation, Download Koha/Koha Versions).... I'm working on a revamp of the evergreen-ils.org site and we are struggling with these same issues.
