NoZebraIndexes and advanced search
by Toni Rosa 18 Oct '10

Hello, We are running a Koha 3.0.5 installation for a small library (with nozebra) with MARC21. The prolbem is that Advanced search (title, subject ....) doesn't work very well. I have done some investigations and on the one hand inside the nozebreindex table there are lots of suspicious __RAW__ indexname entries. For instace, the "place of publication"... so my First question is, If I modify the syspref "NoZebraIndexes" adding somthing like: 'pl' => '260a' and I run the "rebuildnozebra.pl" script afterwards, will it make the advaced search work for "place of publication"? (I guess it should be 'pl' because it is the value in the advanced search dropdown box). My second question is regarding the advanced search of topografic signature. The syspref "NoZebraIndexes" has a 'callnum' => '952o' but the dropdown box for the topografic signature has a 'lcn' name for the option, and the search always return no results... If manually change this 'lcn' for 'callnum' in the POSTED url it will find the biblio...so, Is it an error in my version of koha or Am I doing something wrong? Regards! Toni

Documentation Patches
by Nicole Engard 17 Oct '10

Hi all, I got my first Koha documentation patch today, but it was hidden amongst patches for Koha. I'm going to write up some instructions on the wiki (probably while at the hackfest) but just for future reference send all patches to the manual to one of my email addresses: nengard(a)gmail.com or nengard(a)bywatersolutions.com with the prefix [DOC-PATCH] in the subject so I catch it. Thanks a bunch, Nicole PS. I'll email again when I write up the instructions - and keep the documentation patches coming!!

Thanks to MJ Ray for starting this conversation. PTFS realizes a compromise is the only way to go here – we need to get all of these great minds and talents working together to form a foundation. Please, everybody else, chime in. -- Amy Begg De Groff Product Manager LibLime, a Division of PTFS 1-301-654-8088 ext 162 adegroff(a)liblime.com

Incidently, to clarify, the second statement in no way refutes that Liblime controls the trademark in the US and other countries. It merely adds BibLibre and France to the statement. If anything the refuted statement implies LibLime had/s some level of control of trademarks in s country (i.e. France) the original statement didn't claim. As long as their are two (or more) versions of Koha that are different without different names, it is going to lead to confusion by people that might consider using the software (which was my scenario 1 below). I didn't say you had to rename it, I said that is the only way I see this confusion will not continue to exist and get worse - which incidentally was a concept someone else originally brought up on this list, not me. > Ill make you a deal, i won't mention koha.org again > if that will assuage your worry that I want it back > enough to rush in a foundation with special treatment > for one company. Archlinux package for koha-3.2
by Yuval Hager 16 Oct '10

16 Oct '10

Hi, I have just finished installing Koha on Archlinux. For the sake of the future generations, I created a package for ArchLinux at http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=41853. I have also added all the dependencies that were missing to the user package database as well (about 20 packages). It is best to use a tool that downloads and install them automatically, like yaourt or clyde (otherwise it is going to be tedious). Let me know of feedbacks by email, or by commenting on the package itself. Cheers, -- Yuval Hager

Harley in Koha 3.2
by Rick Welykochy 16 Oct '10

Gentle Members, Out of curiosity, has any code from the LibLime Harley release made it into Koha? Perhaps 3.2? Or is it being deemed a safer option to leave that til later, for various reasons I might ponder? On the <site not to be mentioned> I do see two rather confusing and conflicting download options: http://downloads.ptfsinc.com/harley/harley.tar.gz and http://downloads.ptfsinc.com/harley/koha-3.00.06.tar.gz Far be it from me to suggest that there is a deliberate attempt to make it appear that Koha Community version 3.00.06 contains the Harley code. chers rickw -- Rick Welykochy || Praxis Services The wonderful thing about standards is that there are so many of them to choose from. -- Grace Murray Hopper

iphone/android scanner apps?
by david＠lang.hm 16 Oct '10

16 Oct '10

has anyone thought of having iphone/andoid apps to act as bar-code scanners and handling infrastructure tasks (shelving, checkin, etc) I know I've heard of such apps that take pictures of the bar code, decode it and do various things with it, with the prevalence of such phones and the relative scarcity of dedicated bar-code scanners, it seems like having something like this would be handy. Embedding Google book previews
by Stacy Pober 16 Oct '10

16 Oct '10

Is there a way for Koha libries to embed Google book previews into their opac? Here's a link to this being done in another system: <http://catalog.case.edu/record=b3317134~S0> We have book covers turned on and we're using the Google's cover images for that. Having the book previews in our catalog would be way cool, too, so I figured that you folks would know if it was possible. -- Stacy Pober Information Alchemist Manhattan College Library Riverdale, NY 10471 stacy.pober(a)manhattan.edu
