Re: [Koha] Foundation conversation

I think you are confusing the issues ed. Complaining about bad behaviour is not the same as caring enough about a domain the project no longers uses, to allow for a stacked foundation. As for the fork, you have it wrong too, there are most definitely some forks, Koha is not one of them. I don't see why we should have to rename, how about we just keep using koha-community.org and working on Koha. Ill make you a deal, i won't mention koha.org again if that will assuage your worry that I want it back enough to rush in a foundation with special treatment for one company. Obviously I disagree in at least some limited form. However if people form the anti-PTFS side are unwilling to compromise, I see only two options: 1) Two Kohas with the same name that will only more confuse people and make the issues David Lang mentioned much worse and more wide spread, or 2) The anti-PTFS people finishing the fork of the product and coming up with a new name for there version. Re: [Koha] Firefox and Koha PAC

I believe the libraries in your system are using one of the PTFS/Liblime versions of Koha, right? I'm at a library that is using LEK from PTFS. At a meeting this summer of librarians from institutions using LEK, someone asked about Internet Explorer support. The PTFS/Liblime rep said that they do not support Internet Explorer. He said that because IE8 is more standards-compliant than previous IE versions, there may not be any issues, but the company doesn't specifically design it to work in any version of IE. We were told that if the development group wanted to be sure that LEK would support IE7 or some other specific IE version, then that would have to be funded as another software enhancement . The question was specifically raised whether the non-support of IE applied to the OPAC and the answer was yes. Whether this applies to the version you are using (Harley? Master?) I don't know. -- Stacy Pober Information Alchemist Riverdale, NY 10471 stacy.pober(a)manhattan.edu Vicky Teal Lovely <vtl(a)scls.lib.wi.us> wrote: >Hi, > > We are wondering how essential it is to provide Firefox on patron PCs that > will be accessing the Koha PAC. Hi vicki For koha we have tried to make sure the PAC works in any browser, we can't control what users use at home so it needs to be browser agnostic. Of course as an free software proponent I would be sad to see you replace firefox with IE. But the PAC side should work fine. This is Koha so ymmv with what you are using Hope this helps Chris "vtl(a)scls.lib.wi.us" <vtl(a)scls.lib.wi.us> wrote: >Hi, > >We are wondering how essential it is to provide Firefox on patron PCs that >will be accessing the Koha PAC. Firefox and Koha PAC

Hi, We are wondering how essential it is to provide Firefox on patron PCs that will be accessing the Koha PAC. It would seem that upgrading Firefox is more difficult than IE, so our tech support staff are asking if we can drop Firefox. We do understand that Firefox is essential for Koha staff functions. Fwd: Koha Digest, Vol 60, Issue 7
by Hugo Rodrigues 15 Oct '10

Hello, We did a backup of the file structure as you recommended on our machine. The upgrade for rc went wrong and I now get error 500 for both opac and intranet. I can give more information about our upgrade if anyone is interested. The question is how can I restore koha from the file structure (usr and etc) with a clean instalation (we used koha live cd r5) and if this is not possible anymore how can I extract our previous databases and put them the new instalation. We use Unimarc here. Hope you can help. I want migrate? 3.2? what is process As when you installed your koha you should read the file INSTALL.ubuntu from your install sources. Specifically the section named 'UPGRADE'. I'd add the recommendation of making a backup of your filesystem and database, just in case. If you have a normal 'standard' koha install this could be sthing like: mysqldump -pPASS -uUSER DBNAME > kohadb-20101005.sql tar cvzf koha-backup-20101005.tar.gz /etc/koha /usr/share/koha kohadb-20101005.sql To+

Fwd: LibLime ideas on a Koha Software Foundation

Hi I've posted a brief outline or summation of LibLime's ideas about a Koha Software Foundation on the wiki -- we seek your comments -- http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Forming_a_Koha_Foundation#United_States Please let me know if there is a more logical place to place these on the wiki - under Forming a Foundation / Locations for an Independent Koha Organisation/ United States seemed to fit the flow in place but I am happy to cross post or move if it will help. Authority search problems in Koha 3.2, ZOOM error 20003
by Elaine Bradtke 15 Oct '10

15 Oct '10

Greetings all, We did a bulk import of biblios, and then a bulk import of name authorities, Then we ran link_bibs_to_authorities.pl , and finally ran the zebra. Sometime after that we had to reboot the server as something else was causing it to run very slowly. Have we missed any steps in this process? Two possibly? related problems occurred with authorities. 1) The authorities don't seem to have linked to the bibs. 2) Trying to figure out why, I created a new biblio, so we could see where the link is broken in our imported records. I was editing the new record, and asked it to search the authorities for a name (one that isn't in the authorities file, as it happens) in the 100 field. This popped up: ZOOM error 20003 "can't set prefix query" (addinfo: "@or @attr 7=1 @attr 1=Heading 0 @and @attr 1=authtype @attr 5=100 PERSO_NAME @attr 1=Heading @attr 5=1 @attr 4=6 "Maxwell, Robert L.," @attr 1=Heading @attr 5=1 @attr 4=6 "1957- "") from diag-set 'ZOOM' For help, please send mail to the webmaster (webmaster(a)efdss.org) giving this error message and the time and date of the error. My webmaster doesn't know what this means. I've found multiple bug listings for ZOOM error 20003- I think this is the latest. http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=3386 We've got the candidate release of 3.2 installed - do I still need the patch? Does this error message have anything to do with the fact that the links aren't working? As far as I can tell, the MARC framework for the 100 field is set correctly. Holds not working on Staff client
by Chris Hobbs 14 Oct '10

14 Oct '10

We're running 3.00.05. When clicking on the link for Holds from the Catalog detail page, nothing happens. The browser wheel spins, and about 5 minutes we get the errors listed below. Placing holds works great from OPAC, and checking in a held item works as well (pops a warning, prints a slip, etc.). The Apache log file entry doesn't get written until the error below gets sent to the browser. Here is the log file entry: koha:8080 206.210.224.74 - - [15/Sep/2010:16:52:20 -0700] "GET /cgi-bin/koha/reserve/request.pl?biblionumber=78399 HTTP/1.1" 504 538 "http://koha.nhusd.k12.ca.us:8080/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/detail.pl?biblionum…" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.9) Gecko/20100824 Firefox/3.6.9" Koha error log reports: [Wed Sep 15 16:57:47 2010] [warn] [client 206.210.224.74] Timeout waiting for output from CGI script /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/reserve/request.pl, referer: http://koha.nhusd.k12.ca.us:8080/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/detail.pl?biblionum… [Wed Sep 15 16:57:47 2010] [error] [client 206.210.224.74] Script timed out before returning headers: request.pl, referer: http://koha.nhusd.k12.ca.us:8080/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/detail.pl?biblionum… Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?
