More info about my patch on Unimarc holdings (995 field)
by Zeno Tajoli 14 Oct '10

14 Oct '10

Hi to all, only today I can read the log of IRC meeting at 01/set./2010. The lines about this topic, the unimarc holding field, are here: http://stats.workbuffer.org/irclog/koha/2010-09-01#i_494525 You can see my proposal here: in the last lines of the page. My patch is here: http://lists.koha-community.org/pipermail/koha-patches/2010-August/012413.h… This patch in fact transalte the French 995 setup in the English setup so is compatible with the present Unimarc french installations The only real differece is to use $942^0 for popularity. The change is in the file ..etc/zebradb/marc_defs/unimarc/biblios/record.abs I insert the line melm 942$0 popularity:n,popularity:s,item instead of melm 995$s popularity:n,popularity:s,item Why we need a default about holding field ? -- For indexing, the file etc/zebradb/marc_defs/unimarc/biblios/record.abs is only one for every language -- For help new user on migration, we can say them: "use this subfields". -- To have a setup where Koha features (lost/withdrawn, circulation, etc.) are working immediatly Probably english Unimarc setup is not used from a library, but can be use as a standard to start a translation and a localization. I propose to insert this patch in 3.2, for me is very important -- Zeno Tajoli CILEA - Segrate (MI) tajoliAT_SPAM_no_prendiATcilea.it (Indirizzo mascherato anti-spam; sostituisci qaunto tra AT con @)

OPAC filters
by Rachel Hollis 13 Oct '10

13 Oct '10

Greetings friends, the Koha documentation for the OPAC shows a beautiful example of Filters (10.1.2) at http://koha-community.org/documentation/3-2-manual/index.php?ch=c87250 Our OPAC does not display a filters column, though there is white space for it with Firefox 3.6.10, Google Chrome 6.0.472.63 and even Explorer. We are using Koha version 3.01.00.145 and would like to use Filters. Any advise on where to look or what to do? Support for Nicole Engard
by Chris Cormack 13 Oct '10

13 Oct '10

Hi all Over the weekend (NZ time) PTFS/Liblime posted a blog post on their company blog directly aimed at Nicole Engard. http://blogs.liblime.com/open-sesame/archives/728 Most of you know Nicole as the Koha documentation manager, who has spent 1000's of hours of her life, some paid, some unpaid, working on Koha. You can see from the currently first comment on that blog, that PTFS/Liblime's version of events does not tally with the recollection of the president of the Illinois chapter of SLA, who were running the webinar. Nicole also responded on her own blog http://www.web2learning.net/archives/4177 Where she has received much support as well as hostile comments from people who believe this kind of behaviour from PTFS/Liblime is perfectly ok. Well I don't. I would just like to state publicly here that I stand behind Nicole and I don't think her being attacked by a corporation is right. I encourage others to also support Nicole. Chris

Sorting by acquisition date
by Alex Bernier 13 Oct '10

13 Oct '10

Hello, When I create a record, the columns biblio.datecreated and biblio.timestamp of the database are not copied in the subfield 099$c and 099$d of the MARC record. So, the sort by acquisition date doesn't work for new records. The database contains following information regarding 099$c and 099$d : CREATE TABLE `marc_subfield_structure` ( `tagfield` varchar(3) NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `tagsubfield` varchar(1) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `liblibrarian` varchar(255) NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `libopac` varchar(255) NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `repeatable` tinyint(4) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0', `mandatory` tinyint(4) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0', `kohafield` varchar(40) DEFAULT NULL, `tab` tinyint(1) DEFAULT NULL, `authorised_value` varchar(20) DEFAULT NULL, `authtypecode` varchar(20) DEFAULT NULL, `value_builder` varchar(80) DEFAULT NULL, `isurl` tinyint(1) DEFAULT NULL, `hidden` tinyint(1) DEFAULT NULL, `frameworkcode` varchar(4) NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `seealso` varchar(1100) DEFAULT NULL, `link` varchar(80) DEFAULT NULL, `defaultvalue` text, PRIMARY KEY (`frameworkcode`,`tagfield`,`tagsubfield`), KEY `kohafield_2` (`kohafield`), KEY `tab` (`frameworkcode`,`tab`), KEY `kohafield` (`frameworkcode`,`kohafield`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8; INSERT INTO `marc_subfield_structure` VALUES ('099','c','date création notice (koha)','date création notice (koha)',0,0,'biblio.datecreated',-1,'','','',0,0,'','','',NULL), ('099','d','date modification notice (koha)','date modification notice (koha)',0,0,'biblio.timestamp',-1,'','','',0,0,'','','',NULL), ('099','c','date création notice (koha)','date création notice (koha)',0,0,'biblio.datecreated',-1,'','','',NULL,0,'ARTI','',NULL,NULL), ('099','d','date modification notice (koha)','date modification notice (koha)',0,0,'biblio.timestamp',-1,'','','',NULL,0,'ARTI','',NULL,NULL), ('099','c','date création notice (koha)','date création notice (koha)',0,0,'biblio.datecreated',-1,'','','',NULL,0,'MULT','',NULL,NULL), ('099','d','date modification notice (koha)','date modification notice (koha)',0,0,'biblio.timestamp',-1,'','','',NULL,0,'MULT','',NULL,NULL), ('099','c','date création notice (koha)','date création notice (koha)',0,0,'biblio.datecreated',-1,'','','',NULL,0,'PERI','',NULL,NULL), ('099','d','date modification notice (koha)','date modification notice (koha)',0,0,'biblio.timestamp',-1,'','','',NULL,0,'PERI','',NULL,NULL), ('099','c','date création notice (koha)','date création notice (koha)',0,0,'biblio.datecreated',-1,'','','',NULL,0,'WEB','',NULL,NULL), ('099','d','date modification notice (koha)','date modification notice (koha)',0,0,'biblio.timestamp',-1,'','','',NULL,0,'WEB','',NULL,NULL) I use Koha 3.01.00.100; records in UNIMARC. koha overdue notice problem
by Nitesh Rijal 13 Oct '10

13 Oct '10

Hello all. Once again I have stuck into a familiar kind of problem, its overdue notices. This time it is not much complicated, but weird. I have configured KOHA to send mails. Here, I'm using postfix. I can send mails when I use "mailx" command line. When I run ./fines.pl I can see that it says 2 counted, 2 reported. I can also see the log file, where there are details of the patrons who have overdues. Now, when I run ./overdue_notices.pl, there is no output. Using it with any switch combination gives no output at all. Also, ./process_message_queue.pl also gives no output. But in either case, there is no error message as well. Earlier, I used to check the database table named "message_queue" to see whether messages are queued, but there is also empty table. What might be the problem, please help. Hello all, Would someone at Biblibre - or someone who has used Contracts in Koha 3.2 - help me explain this better? [12:51] <jcamins> nengard: is this a typo in the manual? "You will not be able to enter a contract retrospectively, the end date must be before today's date." [12:51] <jcamins> Under 7.2.3.1 [12:52] <nengard> ummm [12:52] <nengard> it does sound that way doesn't it Thanks in advance, Nicole C. Engard Documentation Manager

Importing bulk authorities and linking to MARC 653
by Elaine Bradtke 12 Oct '10

12 Oct '10

We are using 653 - which in MARC is for uncontrolled terms. They're not from a recognized thesaurus, because our collection is so specialized, but they are controlled locally - in that I've imposed certain standards and have built our own thesaurus. I want to link our authority records for terms to this field. When I upload the data as authority records, will it link to the 653 field? I'm assuming it will go into the TOPIC_TERM authority list. (they're in 150 fields) When I looked at the MARC Bibliographic Framework for 653a it didn't seem to be able to link to TOPIC_TERM Is this because it's empty, or do I have to set something somewhere else?
