Hello, We did a backup of the file structure as you recommended on our machine. The upgrade for rc went wrong and I now get error 500 for both opac and intranet. I can give more information about our upgrade if anyone is interested. The question is how can I restore koha from the file structure (usr and etc) with a clean instalation (we used koha live cd r5) and if this is not possible anymore how can I extract our previous databases and put them the new instalation. We use Unimarc here. Hope you can help. I want migrate? 3.2? what is process As when you installed your koha you should read the file INSTALL.ubuntu from your install sources. Specifically the section named 'UPGRADE'. I'd add the recommendation of making a backup of your filesystem and database, just in case. If you have a normal 'standard' koha install this could be sthing like: mysqldump -pPASS -uUSER DBNAME > kohadb-20101005.sql tar cvzf koha-backup-20101005.tar.gz /etc/koha /usr/share/koha kohadb-20101005.sql To+

Authority search problems in Koha 3.2, ZOOM error 20003

Greetings all, We did a bulk import of biblios, and then a bulk import of name authorities, Then we ran link_bibs_to_authorities.pl , and finally ran the zebra. Sometime after that we had to reboot the server as something else was causing it to run very slowly. Have we missed any steps in this process? Two possibly? related problems occurred with authorities. 1) The authorities don't seem to have linked to the bibs. 2) Trying to figure out why, I created a new biblio, so we could see where the link is broken in our imported records. I was editing the new record, and asked it to search the authorities for a name (one that isn't in the authorities file, as it happens) in the 100 field. This popped up: ZOOM error 20003 "can't set prefix query" (addinfo: "@or @attr 7=1 @attr 1=Heading 0 @and @attr 1=authtype @attr 5=100 PERSO_NAME @attr 1=Heading @attr 5=1 @attr 4=6 "Maxwell, Robert L.," @attr 1=Heading @attr 5=1 @attr 4=6 "1957- "") from diag-set 'ZOOM' For help, please send mail to the webmaster (webmaster(a)efdss.org) giving this error message and the time and date of the error. My webmaster doesn't know what this means. I've found multiple bug listings for ZOOM error 20003- I think this is the latest. http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=3386 We've got the candidate release of 3.2 installed - do I still need the patch? Does this error message have anything to do with the fact that the links aren't working? As far as I can tell, the MARC framework for the 100 field is set correctly. Holds not working on Staff client

We're running 3.00.05. When clicking on the link for Holds from the Catalog detail page, nothing happens. The browser wheel spins, and about 5 minutes we get the errors listed below. Placing holds works great from OPAC, and checking in a held item works as well (pops a warning, prints a slip, etc.). The Apache log file entry doesn't get written until the error below gets sent to the browser. The change is in the file ..etc/zebradb/marc_defs/unimarc/biblios/record.abs I insert the line melm 942$0 popularity:n,popularity:s,item instead of melm 995$s popularity:n,popularity:s,item Why we need a default about holding field ? -- For indexing, the file etc/zebradb/marc_defs/unimarc/biblios/record.abs is only one for every language -- For help new user on migration, we can say them: "use this subfields". -- To have a setup where Koha features (lost/withdrawn, circulation, etc.) are working immediatly Probably english Unimarc setup is not used from a library, but can be use as a standard to start a translation and a localization. OPAC filters

Greetings friends, the Koha documentation for the OPAC shows a beautiful example of Filters (10.1.2) at http://koha-community.org/documentation/3-2-manual/index.php?ch=c87250 Our OPAC does not display a filters column, though there is white space for it with Firefox 3.6.10, Google Chrome 6.0.472.63 and even Explorer. We are using Koha version 3.01.00.145 and would like to use Filters. Any advise on where to look or what to do? Support for Nicole Engard

Hi all Over the weekend (NZ time) PTFS/Liblime posted a blog post on their company blog directly aimed at Nicole Engard. http://blogs.liblime.com/open-sesame/archives/728 Most of you know Nicole as the Koha documentation manager, who has spent 1000's of hours of her life, some paid, some unpaid, working on Koha. You can see from the currently first comment on that blog, that PTFS/Liblime's version of events does not tally with the recollection of the president of the Illinois chapter of SLA, who were running the webinar. Nicole also responded on her own blog http://www.web2learning.net/archives/4177 Where she has received much support as well as hostile comments from people who believe this kind of behaviour from PTFS/Liblime is perfectly ok. Well I don't. I would just like to state publicly here that I stand behind Nicole and I don't think her being attacked by a corporation is right. I encourage others to also support Nicole. Chris
