Cannot change fields and no checkout history

It has been a while since I have been here (different job, engineering has pretty well gone down the drain with the automotive industry in Southern Ontario) Anyway, I am getting some questions of our head librarian which do make sense, and I need some help, 1- There are some grayed out fields in the MARC record, like 100a (Main entry - personal name), and various fields in the 600's, like 650a and 651a. We cannot change these, how can I change them so they are editable? 2- The checkout history of every item says: 'title' has never been check out, when I know for a fact it has gone out many times. Is there a switch to turn this on/off? I haven't been able to find it. All log preferences are 'ON' Thanks, Marty

National Botanic Garden of Wales implements Koha

*L**ibrary at National Botanic Garden of Wales successfully implements Koha*. (report by Kate Jones, one of the Volunteer Librarians involved in Koha at the NBGW Library). Librarians at the *National Botanic Garden of Wales,* chose Koha to create a catalogue for this new research/reference library, which is based within the Garden's Research and Conservation group. This group is headed by botanist Dr Natasha De Vere. The process started last year, when our Librarian, Margot Greer, heard about Koha at a conference. We then embarked on an evaluation and testing exercise, with the help of an IT-savvy student - the son of one of the Library volunteers. We made the decision to go with Koha, had a day's training this Spring from Jonathan Field (of PTFS) for three of our volunteers, then trained a further group of volunteers ourselves and started to import records from the Library at Kew Gardens, where we had matching records. We believe that we were the first library in Wales to choose Koha. Why Koha? We were impressed by its versatility and the fact it was designed by librarians for librarians. We like the Open Source principle... and the fact that it was free was also a factor, as we operate on a very small budget - indeed our Library is run entirely by volunteers. We are lucky to have been able to download records for a significant proportion of our holdings from the Library at Kew (Royal Botanic Garden), and were pleased that Koha made this process so straightforward. We have succeeded in implementing Koha with minimal professional IT support, thanks to the enthusiasm of our volunteers. The project has been led throughout by Margot Greer, a professional Librarian, now retired and a Volunteer at the Garden. We are now at the stage of testing our OPAC on the Garden's own staff, students and volunteers - by 'releasing' it via our own internal network - prior to going 'live' on the internet in the next few weeks. Access will be via the Garden's public website. The response of staff to the 'test' OPAC has been very enthusiastic. Problemas con busquedas en el OPAC Koha 3.00.01.005 NoZebra

Hola listeros, Tengo el siguiente problema: Estoy trabajando con la version 3.00.01.005 de KOHa y configurado como NoZebra. Cuando configuro las hojas de entrada (para los campos 100 y 700), deseo que los datos de autores personales, sean tomados desde el Catálogo de Autoridades. Para esto, en el editor de hojas, indico para 100a: display more constraints Restricciones avanzadas: 1. Valor predeterminado: 2. oculto: 0 3. Es una URL: 4. Enlace: 5. Enlace Koha: biblio.author Otras opciones: (elegir una) 1. Valor autorizado: 2. Tesauro:PERSO_NAME 3. Plugin: Con esta configuración logro que al tener que ingresar el campo 100a (en la entrada de datos), obligatoriamente debe buscar el autor en el Catalogo de autoridades. (no se puede entrar datos, hay que cliquear en los puntitos). Hasta acá todo OK. Supongamos que en el campo 100a ingreso "Pigna, Felipe Antonio Carlos" (es un nombre ficticio!) Realizo el mismo procedimiento descripto, pero para el 700a Supongamos que en el campo 700a capturo desde Autoridades "Olguin, Juan Manuel" y como tercer autor en el campo 700a capturo "Olguin, Luis Alberto" En el OPAC, desde la caja de texto para busquedas simples, puedo buscar cualquier autor cargado (tanto en el 100a como en el 700a) ===>Acá el problema: <====== Desde el OPAC, cuando veo el detalle de un registro no es posible "navegar" a partir del resultado de una búsqueda, porque el link trata de buscar de esta manera: http://170.210.162.68/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=an:45 Pero si quiero "navegar" desde el autor principal, trabaja bien porque el link es: http://170.210.162.68/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=au:Pigna, Felipe Antonio Carlos ?????! Ahora bien, si en la edición de la hoja de trabajo, le saco la conexión con el catálogo de autoridades funciona bien el OPAC, es decir el link que genera para un autor cargado en 700a es es: http://170.210.162.68/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=au:Olguin, Juan Manuel Donde está mi error?, tengo que cambiar algo en las configuraciones?. NoZebraIndexes and advanced search

Hello, We are running a Koha 3.0.5 installation for a small library (with nozebra) with MARC21. The prolbem is that Advanced search (title, subject ....) doesn't work very well. I have done some investigations and on the one hand inside the nozebreindex table there are lots of suspicious __RAW__ indexname entries. For instace, the "place of publication"... so my First question is, If I modify the syspref "NoZebraIndexes" adding somthing like: 'pl' => '260a' and I run the "rebuildnozebra.pl" script afterwards, will it make the advaced search work for "place of publication"? (I guess it should be 'pl' because it is the value in the advanced search dropdown box). My second question is regarding the advanced search of topografic signature. The syspref "NoZebraIndexes" has a 'callnum' => '952o' but the dropdown box for the topografic signature has a 'lcn' name for the option, and the search always return no results... If manually change this 'lcn' for 'callnum' in the POSTED url it will find the biblio...so, Is it an error in my version of koha or Am I doing something wrong? Regards! Toni

Hi all, I got my first Koha documentation patch today, but it was hidden amongst patches for Koha. I'm going to write up some instructions on the wiki (probably while at the hackfest) but just for future reference send all patches to the manual to one of my email addresses: nengard(a)gmail.com or nengard(a)bywatersolutions.com with the prefix [DOC-PATCH] in the subject so I catch it. Incidently, to clarify, the second statement in no way refutes that Liblime controls the trademark in the US and other countries. It merely adds BibLibre and France to the statement. If anything the refuted statement implies LibLime had/s some level of control of trademarks in s country (i.e. France) the original statement didn't claim.
