Authority linking problems in Koha 3.2 solved!
by Elaine Bradtke 02 Nov '10

02 Nov '10

A while back I reported the fact that our imported authorities were not linking to the biblios. My IT wizard sat down with me and we dug around in the code to where it was going wrong. The problem was in our 008 field. Position 14 and 15 must be set to 'a' for the linking to work. Our authorities were not originally MARC records, and when we turned them into MARC these were set to '|' - (no attempt to code). We changed them to 'a' and the linking worked like it should. I thought I'd post this, just in case someone else down the road has the same problem.

Need help for implementing discovery tool (VuFind) with KOHA
by hasina＠bracu.ac.bd 02 Nov '10

02 Nov '10

Dear all Currently we are implementing Vufind at BRAC University Library, Bangladesh. We are using KOHA version 3.2 latest stable release. There is a built-in driver for KOHA but its not working. It was written as a test of concept very early in VuFinds development during experimentation with using Kohas Zebra index instead of VuFinds Solr index. We are dumping MARC record from Koha and uploading it to VuFind. It is working fine, but it doesn't show the holding data. We are trying to build a driver of KOHA for VuFind. Is there anyone who is working on any discovery tool and KOHA? Hasina Afroz Senior Deputy Librarian (Head of Library) BRAC University Bangladesh http://library.bracu.ac.bd/

Re: [Koha] what is branchcode?
by Nicole Engard 01 Nov '10

Please reply to the entire list so everyone can learn and so that others can help you. I can't send you a patron import file because my file will have my patron's info and my library branches on it. I will see if I can update the manual to provide you more help or maybe someone else can explain the need for a branchcode better than I can. Koha - searches in 3.2 require asterisk at end to be successful
by Linda Culberson 01 Nov '10

01 Nov '10

After several attempts of reindexing our fresh install of Koha 3.2 and loading a test of 776 records and getting no results for searching in both the opac and staff clients, I tried adding one in the staff client manually. After viewing that record, I could click on one of the subject headings and get results. However, after closing that record and doing a new search in both the opac and staff clients, I still got nothing - even for the record I had created (and re-indexed). In desperation I added an asterisk at the end of my search. Turns out that all of the searches in both the opac and the staff clients require the asterisk. Has anyone else noticed this or can tell me why this may be happening? Thanks! -- Linda Culberson lculber(a)mdah.state.ms.us Archives and Records Services Division Ms. Dept. of Archives & History P. 2.2.5 to 3.2 migration question
by Marilen Corciovei 01 Nov '10

01 Nov '10

Hello, I am planning to migrate a 2.2.5 installation to 3.2 and searching for the upgrade method I found this: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Upgrading_2.2 guide. Does this apply to 3.2 also? Are there any special steps to be considered in this process? Any information is appreciated. Kindly regards, Len www.len.ro
