But if I do advance search specifying Book using the following url http://library.seu.ac.bd/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl Result seems to be OK. We have imported the entries to the koha using the stage import. Same book with multiple copies are gone to the system as each entry not as one record with items. The data of the books imported to the system is not having the full bibliographic data. So we are having the bibliographic data of all the books in the marc format. So i tried to import it to the system using the Stage import and this time i applied the Matching rule ISBN (020$a). Action taken if matching is found : Replace the existing record with the incoming record. After the process, only one record is get updated. Assumption: in the system we are having multiple records having same ISBN number What should i do if i want to update all the records in the system having same ISBN number. For example, the message I get when I try to run the script is: "Package libcgi-session-perl is not available, but is referred to by another package." Has anyone else seen this and what have they done to rectify the problem? Thanks, Sean

Hi Prawesh, 1) Have you followed http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Encoding_and_Character_Sets_in_Koha ?? 2) This error may be caused by bad characters in the marc record ( reff : http://stats.workbuffer.org/irclog/koha/2010-06-28 ) Did you type in the catalogue info or did you copy paste from somewhere? 3) Do you have display results using XSLT turned on? If yes try turning it off.. 4) Also try to upgrade to latest stable version of koha 3.2.3 available at koha-community.org Please send messages to the koha mailing list so that more people can help you. It should run on lenny and it does. Numerous perl modules aren't in lenny that are in squeeze. But you can still CPAN them on. Hello Koha List from Samoa It appears some funding has been made available to allow the purchase of a new library server. I just wanted to ask the experts for your advice on what specs to look out for and what to avoid please? Is there a particular machine we should be purchasing? Re: [Koha] lack of koha documentation
by Kate Jones 30 Jan '11

Personally, and as a non-IT professional (who has nevertheless become the default 'techie guy' for my Koha project) I've found the online documentation to be very useful, clear and manageable. I generally have the online manual open on a second tab whenever I'm doing anything the slightest bit complex with Koha. I've also found the Koha community to be extraordinarily helpful, when I've asked what may have appeared to be 'simple' or even 'stupid' questions. One tip, don't change the default framework, set up your own framework(s) in parallel. That way you can play with your biblio set up to your heart's content! Good luck with Koha, you'll come to love it as much I do. Please use "New Message" for new topics, not "Reply", was: Collection Performance

Are there other ways > to use Koha data to measure collection performance in a high > circulating collection but the above appeared in the "Bulk Item Modification" thread. I think the email was written by pressing "Reply..." in an email program, even though it wasn't a reply. Most email software remembers where the reply command was used and includes metadata that explains that the new email is a reply to another message. That then helps people to sort their email and it helps the "web forum" versions of our discussion to work properly. But a few people on this list last week seemed to be starting new topics by using "Reply..." on unrelated emails, which means that the new email gets attached to a thread on a different topic, fewer readers will see the email, and any questions are less likely to be answered. For example, the above email appears on the end of http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Bulk-Item-Modification-Assinging-Branch-C… which isn't a good place for it. This should be a cataloguing-friendly list, so come on, let's use metadata properly! Please use "Reply..." only for replies to an email and "New Mail..." for starting new topics on the list. (If you have "List Reply..." and "List Post..." commands, so much the better!) Thanks, -- MJ Ray (slef), member of www.software.coop, a for-more-than-profit co-op. Regarding Stage Import
by Thomas Theresa 29 Jan '11

29 Jan '11

Dear All, I am Thomas Abraham. I am working on migration of Newgenlib to Koha. I have got the data from newgenlib in cs format. I have converted the data in MRC format using the MARCedit and imported using the Stage Import. Here When we are importing the data, each entry is gone as a single record. We are having one book having 100 copies. When the import is done it i entered to the system as 10 records. Since the data we got Newgenlib we have no choice. My problem is when i am updating the bibilographic data of the imported record using the rules using another stage import, only the first record is getting updated, the other 99 copies biblographic content remains the same. How can i update the content of all the 100 copies. Please help me. If this question is having no sense i will explain you again. With regards Thomas Abraham Open Knowledge Society, India

Can Not Save Edited Records
by Zachary Spalding 28 Jan '11

28 Jan '11

While working in Koha 3.2.0 and if I am editing a record with lots of data sometimes I can't save it. A good example would be I was working with a record that had 12 856$u fields that I was removing. When I was done with my work I could not save it. I was wondering if anyone else had experience this problem or knew of a memory limit with addbiblio.pl page? I can usually save changes but it seems to be with records that don't contain as much data. -- Zachary Spalding Systems Manager Southeastern NY Library Resources Council 21 S.
