I'm looking into web hosting options for our library's catalog and would appreciate advice. Our OPAC is accessible to patrons from inside our LAN, but I'd like to have it accessible from anywhere. I've contacted a few providers for quotes and it's looking like a cost of $1000 (US) per year. I work for a small non-profit and don't have much of a budget to work with, that's why I chose Koha and currently have spent only $100 for hardware. I'd appreciate any advice and I certainly do not mean to offend any hosting providers that are part of this forum. Thank you, C.J. CJ, Why not host it on the machine you have it installed on? If your LAN has access to the internet through a firewall, simply port forward your koha installation to an available outside IP. Request to hold KohaCon 11 in New Delhi, India

Dear Sir/Madam Given to understand that you are about to decide about holding next KohaCon 2011 venue, I would request you to hold the same at New Delhi, India. India has a very very large number of libraries but have limited understanding about open source software and their usage and applications in lilbraries. Holding such a prestigious conference will serve as an effective tool for such an event. I am an active researcher on use of open source software in NCT region of Delhi and hence strongly feel need of such a conference in India. I offer our institution as the host for this conference or even my full support for any other institution in the country wish to host the conference. Looking forward for a favourable reply. other libraries default under my account

Hey, Koha- Question. Whenever I log into the back end of the Koha database I've been building, there are a whole number of other libraries listed that I'm able to log in to or default as. Is there any way for me to delete these other libraries from my system? I can even access their patron info and their records are listed alongside my own. Could cause some major problems or at least a bit of confusion. Any advice? Koha - KohaCon Bids

I have been planning to save up for the year in hopes of attending KohaCon and would be happy to go to Pakistan, India or Nepal. (There is no way that my expenses can come from anywhere except my own pocket.) However, I am concerned about having it in any country where other participants from other country may not be able to attend. Looking at the three sites that are now under consideration, it appears to me that those from Pakistan would have difficulty traveling to India and vice versa. Label Creator Select All, Add Checked not functioning correctly

In Koha version 3.03.00.004 in the Administration if I go into Tools- Labelel Creator->Manage Batches->New Batch Then do a search by a creation date I am getting 77 returns. If I press 'Select All' all the checkboxes on that page are being selected. However when I press the 'Add Checked' button on the top of that page only the first item is being added to the batch. I am not hitting the Add button that is next to the individual item. Any way to correct this? I tried 'Update Koha' in the management console but it appears it is already at the latest version. dear professionals, I wish to bring to your kind notice that now in india the movement of oss is very vigorous since the koha lists are very active. In india number of places now and then the programmes are conducted by the institutions on KOHA and I have observed that lot of thrusts are there for koha implementation. Circulation problem

We've just installed a new 3.2.2 installation of Koha in our library. Calyx in Sydney Australia has helped us import data from our old system and all the data seems quite sound and accurate barring a few adjustments which were expected. However I have a strange problem that I'm hoping there is an easy and quick answer to... If looking up a book in any search box (backend or frontend) by barcode, the system will successfully retrieve it. However when you go to checkout a book, you find a patron - this works, then you are asked to scan the barcode to loan the item out. When we do this, we get "Barcode was not found". So we know the data is fine because we can search otherwise for the barcodes, but scanning them into the checkout doesn't work. I've looked at what the barcode reader is doing and found it to be scanning the barcode correctly. I also tried copying and pasting the barcode form the OPAC into the checkout box in case there is some data problem there but this still returns nothing. Any suggestions or help would be very appreciated! We have students returning Thursday and, while other features can be worked through slowly, this one is sort of critical as we all know! Hi Brian, Any server can be a security threat, whether on windows, linux or mac. But windows servers are more vulnerable compared to mac and linux. There are some minimum standards of practice required to make a server safe, this is more explicit on linux than windows. Thats why most of all critical services on the web are almost entirely run on linux today. I dont see where the conflict arises if the mail server is on windows, koha on linux and others are on mac. In my environment, we run our mail server on linux CentOS, proxy is on debian linux, koha is on ubuntu linux, dns is on windows server.
