Anyone working on a "simplified interface" for cataloging?

Hi all, I've a need to position Koha 3.2 for a scenario where we are not going to get trained catalogers / lib pros. We are planning to use MARC21 at the back, but it would be great if the marc fields and tags can be hidden away from the users. build_browser_and_cloud cron

Hi all, i was trying to import authority records from marc records that already loaded in my database which will make a catalog for example of my authors when browsing by subject in opac then selecting the type as person_name by this command ./bin/cronjobs/build_browser_and_cloud.pl -f -b 100a -t 100 -c i'm sure that i used this before and it gets the desired results but now it doesn't get when using this command only it fills the tags table not the auth_header one. we are using koha 3.2.4 and another updated one to 3.2.5 thanks alot

Sorry but I don't understood. If I disable the the hold how the users can reserve a books? I also decided to place a computer in the library for the self checkout, i made some test and works. Enabling Zebra after successful install

Hello everyone, I've gone through a successful install and have Koha up and running, but during the install I chose to NOT enable/use Zebra. Now I'd like to turn it on/use Zebra and am wondering if anyone can tell me how to do that? Thanks!

Cataloging Serials

Paul, You might want to look a that the RFC for Analytics to see if it will fit your needs. http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Talk:Analytic_Record_support. Hopefully this will make it into 3.4, because it surely works for us, and we did use MarcEdit to achieve what we needed. Basically, what we are doing is creating a parent record for the serial title with an item record for each issue, then having an analytical record for specific articles that link back to its specific issue. I'm afraid our koha server is not yet ready to be open to the public so you can't see the record, but in our case the Journal of Mississippi History has 300+ issues, which have been bound into 84 volumes (so we have 84 "item" records") each with its own barcode. For each the articles for which we require specific detailed records, we create an analytic record that is basically a bibliographic (child) record that ties back to the parent (Journal of Mississippi History) record's item using the 773 field. So that if you such for a specific article for which an analytic record has been created, you can go directly to the item (issue) that contains that record. The analytics (children) do not have item records So they wouldn't have a 952. But they would have a 773. The issues/items would all belong to the parent. Station for self-checkout

I created one user and I enabled the Self Checkout in the system preference, but if I go to the page, say this error: Sorry, the system doesn't think you have permission to access this page. Could not add items in biblo

why doesn't Reply All go back to list?

Hi All, I keep accidentally not replying back to the list for things that might be useful to more people than the sending. But my mail client doesn't seem to be picking the Koha List even when I choose Reply-All. Is there something in the list configuration that could be tweaked so that Reply All always goes back to the list? I'm using Gmail. It uses the above variables to render : iso : (YYYY-MM-DD) metric : (DD/MM/YYYY) us : (MM/DD/YYYY) Note that this include is translated. ie in French : (JJ/MM/AAAA). You may use the C4::Dates module : ie get today date : my $today C4::Dates->new(); To get date formatted in ISO : my $message = ‘We are the ‘.$today->output(‘iso’); To get date formatted according to current date format : my $message = ‘We are the ‘.$today->output(); Remember that dates are stored in ISO in database. So query results will contain ISO formatted dates. Use “C4::Dates::format_date” to convert from ISO to current date format. This of course is not to try and rank anyones contribution over anyone else’s or to detract from the already well recognised contributors. But there are some people who made significant contributions to Koha and I would like to recognise that. Olwen Williams is a huge reason why Koha exists, without her and her knowledge of pick based systems we might still be struggling to get the data out of the old library system :) She enabled Horowhenua Library Trust to feel confident, by getting the data out of their old system and getting it into the new relational database. Not content to stop there, she also wrote a significant amount of the code that was to become Koha 1.0. She was the second person ever to commit code to Koha and occasionally still answers a question on the mailing list. Olwen if you read this, hats off to you and thank you very much for all the hard work you put in. National Library brings ‘Koha’ to Pangasinan by Eva Visperas LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines – Thirty-four public libraries in this province each received a complete unit of the Integrated Library System from the National Library of the Philippines. Edgardo Quiros, chief of the Information Technology Division of the National Library, told The STAR that Pangasinan is the sixth province-recipient of this project after Cavite, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, La Union and Benguet. Next would be Bohol, Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental. The project, named Koha, from the Maori (New Zealand) word meaning to give, is an open source integrated library system developed by New Zealand that was successful and eventually shared to the world. The project was first implemented by the National Library in 1996 and 2000, and the present distribution has incorporated changes in the system brought by changes in technology, according to Quiros. They come from many countries from Europe: Spain (4), Germany (1), Norway (1), UK (2), and of course France (all BibLibre, that’s 9 developers + 3 librarians, but not only: 3 frenchies not from BibLibre are also coming) During this week, we will work on testing/patching new features and bugfixes that are still waiting for 3.4, but also work on documentation and translation. My small library is without a librarian every day of the month except one when I visit the school. We have taught the students and faculty how to ck out and ck in. We do not use reserve or hold- they look it up on opac and ck it out right then and there and then ck it on when finished with it. We have had no problems yet.
