Trying these questions again... We currently have version 3.0.0 and want to update to 3.2.6 this week. We are having the IT consultant that originally installed Koha this winter do this. Any potential glitches or problems that I should be aware of? Will I have to reset anything in the new version? Hoping the transition goes smoothly. Also, would it be better to wait for version 3.4 in April? How different will this one be? We don't have full-time or even regular IT help - have to hire/pay for each service, so we want to use our money wisely. Thanks, Shelley

build_browser_and_cloud cronjob

Hi all, i was trying to import authority records from marc records that already loaded in my database which will make a catalog for example of my authors when browsing by subject in opac then selecting the type as person_name by this command ./bin/cronjobs/build_browser_and_cloud.pl -f -b 100a -t 100 -c i'm sure that i used this before and it gets the desired results but now it doesn't get when using this command only it fills the tags table not the auth_header one. we are using koha 3.2.4 and another updated one to 3.2.5 thanks alot

3.2.7 Early Release Notice

Hi everyone, April is a big month with the forthcoming major release of Koha 3.4.0. So in order to yield the stage to the 3.4.0 release, the 3.2.7 release will take place one week earlier than our normal schedule on 15 April 2011. This puts 3.2.x into string freeze on 8 April 2011. 3.2.x will return to its normal release schedule on the 22nd of the month in May with 3.2.8. Subtitle to show on OPAC

I would like the subtitle (MARC tag 245 b) to be visible on the OPAC. I have checked the System parameters and it is not marked as hidden. Need report help from the collection mind!

I'm trying to build a simple weeding tool for one of my libraries and seem to be missing something. I am getting results where the Total_Circ is 2 or more!! The rest looks great, the results are just not narrow enough for this case. Context may be slightly different because we are on LLEK, but I believe the problem is with the SQL at WHERE items.homebranch='LX' AND 'Total_Circ'<2 We want everything where the Total Circ is less than two, obviously! Editors authorities (unimarc 210pl), with zero biblios - koha version 3.2.5

Hello Everyone; I am running koha 3.2.5 version, using unimarc format and I have some difficulties with the following authorities: Editors authority - the unimarc 210 plugin is working: except doesn't add any biblio record, to the editors list. Authors, subjects (within the field 606) authorites are working properly. I have created an authority relating the 250 authority field to the 675 (CDU) biblio field. Like the editors authority doesn't add any biblio record to its list. Thank you, susana tonel

restrictions / not_loan

Hi, I'm trying to figure out a couple of things a) we want to have a certain type of patron who can borrow books that are normally "not for loan" can i do that by making this a staff patron and then catalog a book as a NOT_LOAN value 2? b) what exactly are the restrictions in 952$5 and how exactly are they used? I've tried looking for solutions in the koha book from packt but i have found the book very impractical for things like that. The online manual lists the values (-1/0/1/2 for NOT LOAN) but does not state what exactly the value 2 means (other than "staff collection") thanks! Klaas

Quick Poll: Who uses COiNS/ OpenURL in the opac search results?

Community, Did you know that Koha automatically parses the bibliographic records it returns with a search, and gives you a COiNS/OpenURL/Z39.88 span that bibliographic utilities can pick up on? I did, but I've never had call to use it. Does anyone out there make use of this feature, or teach their patrons to? I ask, because it's a very expensive feature, resource-wise, and if it's not commonly used, it may be best to be something we enable/disable with a system preference. I've filed a bug report for this ( http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=5957) and will be working on a patch, if the community feels this is worth the effort. Hi Paul, This problem isn¹t going to help with what your asking, but this is how I manage the Serials in our Library. 1. I have a Bibliographic Record for the Serial Title. 2. I utilise the Serials Module functionality in Koha to manage the Subscription(s) and Acquisition/Receiving of issues of the Serial Titles. 3. I then attach a holding record to the Serial¹s Bibliographic Record for the issue, and because we store a year¹s worth of issues of a Serial Title in a pamphlet box, I also utilise what we call a Serials Summary¹ generic holding record which is attached to the bibliographic record and is updated every time a new holding record is created for a received serial issue. I have attached to this email, in Microsoft Word (.doc) format, an example of how our Serial Bibliographic Record and Holdings Records appear in the Koha OPAC. Paul, unfortunately, I can¹t shed any light onto the type of functionality you are looking for in regards to abstracts, etc., but I thought I would share my method of dealing with Serials in my Library.
