In other words the drop down box represents "suggestions" rather than absolutes. e.g. a drop down box for "condition" of a book (952$x) with all sorts of suggestions ranging from "fine/fine" to "reading copy only" that cover 99% of a cataloguer's input, but will occasionally require a "good, fair slipcase, half calf with some cracking, three edges gilt but fading" :=) Thanks, Paul Tired old sys-admin

I think the place to start for this enhancement would be to look at how it's implemented in the Suggestions management area of Acquisitions. You can select the reason for accepting/rejecting a suggestion from a dropdown connected to Authorised Values, but you can also input your own text.
