Would like to remove barcodes from all branches but one
by Laurie Henry 10 Jun '11

10 Jun '11

Hello, For various reasons I'd like to remove the barcodes assigned to items at all of our library's branches except one and start over. (Please, just don't ask why.) Is this something I can do with MarcEdit? Or is there a better way? Thank you very much. Hi there Is there anyway to generate an account notice? I already generate overdue notices, but want to send patrons a notice containing the amount they owe in fines and manual invoices. I use Koha 3.2.6 on Debian Lenny. Re: [Koha] [Koha-devel] Koha Version 3.4.1

Hi Louise, Welcome to the community. I'm redirecting this to the user's list as it really belongs there. 2011/6/9 <Louise_Towers(a)hugoboss.com>: > Dear Sir/Madam, > > We need some answers and support based on Koha Version 3.4.1. You may want to have a look here for your support options with Koha: http://koha-community.org/support/ >We are having problems like, if two people reserve the same book at the same time, there is no circulation >email. We'll probably need more detail to help with this sort of problem such as: Do you have a mail server setup for Koha to use? Are any Koha emails sent successfully? Etc. > > Also, does the support for Koha have a cost for the service?? That depends upon the type of support you need. If you need one-on-one phone support, you will most likely need to contract with a Koha service provider. There are several excellent choices located at the above link. If you can tolerate a little slower support, volunteer support is available via the list you have emailed. Just send along an email giving as much detail as possible concerning your issues and someone will usually respond in a reasonable amount of time. IRC is another option as well for volunteer, real-time support. > > I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible to help us use your > product most effectively and efficiently, Again, welcome to the community! We certainly hope your involvement with Koha will be long and prosperous. Kind Regards, Chris

tagging in koha
by Caitlin McGurk 09 Jun '11

09 Jun '11

Hey all, How does Tagging work in Koha? Can it be done through the administrative end? I can't find a section for it, other than from the patron side. When I try to add tags to certain books as a patron, they do not save and the item does not appear when a search is done for that tag after. Suggestions? Dear Mamta Madam, You can export your records as MARC from Koha and edit the records using MARCEdit software. http://people.oregonstate.edu/~reeset/marcedit/html/downloads.html Then you can import in Koha. Koha 3.4 OpacHiddenItems continued
by Linda Culberson 09 Jun '11

09 Jun '11

I'm terribly sorry, we had an alarm go off, and I apparently hit send before I finished my message. We need to know about OpacHiddenItems in 3.4 because in 3.2 we are using Lost to hide items in the opac. We don't like having something marked "LOST" when we know it isn't and and are very determined NOT to lose anything. Thank you, and again, I apologize. Virtual Koha
by Tim Bateson 08 Jun '11

08 Jun '11

Hi Everyone, Is anyone looking at creating a virtualised version of Koha so that people could download a Virtual Machine based on Open Virtualisation Format Archive (OVA). I tend to use Virtualbox for testing VMs and have had to create a few Debian based VMs recently. What should be included? ie pre create a library, items, groups, patrons etc or just have a base install of 3.4 with nothing configured ? Would it be of any interest or help to do this? All the best, Tim

Hi Gary, Thanks for your help. I should have used wireshark in the first place :) I have added some UK libraries, the National Library of Wales seemed to have a good collection for UK books. The name of our schools is Houghton Kepier Sports College and we are in a town called Houghon le Spring in the North East of England. http://www.houghtonkepier.org.uk/ http://moodle.houghtonkepier.org.uk/ I have included a moodle link to show we use more than one open source application at our school :) Regards, Tim 2011/6/7 G. Guidance
by Tim Bateson 08 Jun '11

Hi All, I am a new Koha user, looking to get Koha 3.4 installed and integrated with Active Directory for client access for a UK secondary school. I have got Koha 3.4 installed and running on a Debian squeeze server. Is version 3.4 the best version to use for a new install in a relatively small school library? We are behind a managed firewall so asked for relevant z39.50 ports to be opened. Can anyone confirm if z39.50 uses udp or tcp (or both)? I am also a little confused by whether I should have used the Koha community or Liblime versions. I chose the community version as I am trying to promote the use of open source in our school. Can anyone point me to what the differences are between the community and Liblime versions? In relation to LDAP integration for Active Directory is there any documentation for how this can be done for version 3.4 I have found some threads on the mailing list, but not found a definitive source for how to do this. Sorry for all the questions :) Tim
