introduction
by lennart 08 Jun '11

08 Jun '11

Hi @ all, I just wanted to shortly introduce myself. I'm in the middle of my internship at a library, where they are considering koha as their future ILS. I've already started to configure a few things, created the item types and so on. The whole server administration however is upon another member of the university (which the library belongs to). So I'm not the _really_ responsible one to make the system work. I joined the koha-community.org for more information and maybe help. But a few names from the mailing archive (like Nicole and Chris) are already familiar to me. Thanks for all the information I already used for my humble part of the project so far to the whole community. Greetings, Lennart

bulkmarcimport.pl "MARC dumping" option NOT displaying MARC record, for "verbose mode" with UNIMARC records in ISO 2709 format
by Ricardo Dias Marques 07 Jun '11

07 Jun '11

Hi all, It's been a long time since I last posted to the Koha mailing list! :) Today (7-Jun-2011), I'm doing some testing with "bulkmarcimport" tool (the "bulkmarcimport.pl" script available at "misc/migration_tools") in a Koha 3.0.x git installation (this git version has the last commit dated from Sep-2010). I'm doing the testing with a "ISO 2709" file that contains a single record in UNIMARC. By running the bulkmarcimport command with the help option - "bulkmarcimport.pl -h" - I get the following info for the "v" ("verbose mode") switch: ---------------------------------------- # /koha/koha30xclone/misc/migration_tools/bulkmarcimport.pl -h Small script to import bibliographic records into Koha. Parameters: h this version/help screen file /path/to/file/to/dump: the file to import v verbose mode. 1 means "some infos", 2 means "MARC dumping" [...] ---------------------------------------- So, I thought that if I ran the command with the "v 2" option, I would get a "dump" of the MARC record. That doesn't seem to be case, however. First, this is the (correct) content of the MARC record using the tool "yaz-marcdump": ---------------------------------------- # yaz-marcdump sample.iso 00531 a2200181 4500 100 $a 20100121 pory50 ba 090 $b 790290 101 $a eng 200 $a STANDARDIZATION OF DATA FORMATS FOR A NETWORK OF PROCESS COMPUTERS IN:PROC.OF THE EURO IFIP 79, LONDON, SEP.25-28, 1979 210 $a AMSTERDAM $c NORTH-HOLLAND $d 1979 606 $a NORMALIZAÇÃO 606 $a REDE DE COMPUTADORES 606 $a IFIP 606 $a REUNIÕES 830 $d 19990127 $e 20070320 $m ricardo 990 $c 8 994 $a ARQUIVO 995 $f 2064 $k 0097 ---------------------------------------- OK. Now, the output of a "test" bulkmarcimport run with this ISO file, with the "v 1" option ("some infos"): ---------------------------------------- # /koha/koha30xclone/misc/migration_tools/bulkmarcimport.pl -t -c UNIMARC -v 1 -file sample.iso TESTING MODE ONLY DOING NOTHING =============== Characteristic MARC flavour: UNIMARC . 1 MARC records done in 0.00444483757019043 seconds ---------------------------------------- And finally, the output of a "test" bulkmarcimport run with this ISO file, with the "v 2" option ("MARC dumping"): ---------------------------------------- # /koha/koha30xclone/misc/migration_tools/bulkmarcimport.pl -t -c UNIMARC -v 2 -file sample.iso TESTING MODE ONLY DOING NOTHING =============== Characteristic MARC flavour: UNIMARC . 1 MARC records done in 0.00458002090454102 seconds ---------------------------------------- As you can say "-v 2" is displaying the same output as "-v 1". Shouldn't the "-v 2" option of "bulkmarcimport" display the content of the MARC record? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance! :) Cheers, Ricardo Dias Marques lists AT ricmarques DOT net Installation Guide for "Installing Koha 3.0.0 on openSUSE 11.0" http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_3.0.0_on_openSUSE_11.0

overdue charges
by TSBC Librarian 07 Jun '11

07 Jun '11

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong please? We have loaded Koha 3.02.00.004 using linux and it is running sweet. We are really pleased with it. However, it is not calculating charges. Running a script will do a manual calculation. Manually loaded charges appear but not automatically calculated charges for overdues. Does anyone have any ideas please? Global sign off day, 2011-06-15
by Magnus Enger 07 Jun '11

07 Jun '11

Dear all! (And sorry for cross posting... At least a little bit ;-) We had such great fun in Marseilles earlier this year, signing off patches, that I have been wondering if it would be possible to re-create some of that experience without incurring the costs of travel. I broached the subject on IRC earlier today and after the briefest and least democratic of processes, "we" decided to declare 15th June 2011 as a Global Sign Off Day: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Global_sign_off_day,_2011-06-15 The hope is that as many people as possible will be able to set aside as much other work as possible on this day, and concentrate on signing off patches, to reduce the queue of bugs that are currently waiting for sign-off (66 at this moment: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/buglist.cgi?bug_status=NEW&bug_sta…) We will try to visualise and document the progress that is made, to make it more fun and maybe even tickle the competitive instincts a little bit... ;-) And who knows, if this day is a success, maybe we could turn it into a regular tradition? * If you have not signed off on a patch before, now is the perfect time to do it! The more the merrier! The process is outlined here: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Sign_off_on_patches And there will be people on IRC that you can ask for help and guidance! Best regards, Magnus Enger * On the other hand, let's hope we can keep the queue as short as possible...
