Re: [Koha] Uploading the database from excel to KOHA : Copies notavailable / Missing

In my experience, Koha needs the subfield "o" - Full call number. I migrate from CDS/ISIS DOS and the LC callnumber (050ab) was import in both fields, one for MARC21 and one for KOHA. When I add a record the LC callnumber was copied automaticaly to subfield "o" subfield in the Add ITEM secction. Try a search in my OPAC and export to MARC to study the format. Fwd: Super-tiny script to check for record errors before upgrading to 3.4.x
by Tomas Cohen Arazi 14 Jun '11

14 Jun '11

I just forward this as I noticed I sent it to dev list only. It was usefull for us. Regards To+ ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Tomas Cohen Arazi <tomascohen(a)gmail.com> Date: Tue, May 31, 2011 at 4:00 PM Subject: Super-tiny script to check for record errors before upgrading to 3.4.x To: koha-devel <koha-devel(a)lists.koha-community.org> Hi, being back to work after a few weeks abroad is a bit difficult, but here I am. Back to koha, and back to Perl suff. We are just planning our upgrade to 3.4 and face the problem that our install base (+30 libraries/koha deploys and growing) has several enconding (and posibly other) problems carried from the initial migration from different sources and encodings. Those problems obviously arise now that we have to access all the records to remove holdings information from them, and running remove_items_from_biblioitems.pl waiting for it to fail and discover "where" it failed is not suitable for us. So... I managed to get a script to tell me which records are "problematic" in the sense koha defines problematic. I'd like some other dev to take a look at it to check it. It can be obviously beautified and improved. There's a link here so anyone can read it: http://blogs.unc.edu.ar/koha/lang/en/2011/05/31/migracion-a-3-4-surgen-prob… Thanks in advance To+

Reminder: Global sign off day 2011-06-15 (in your time zone of choice)
by Magnus Enger 14 Jun '11

Dear Koha friends! Just a gentle reminder that Global sign off day is just 2,5 hours away in Kiribati, and fast approaching for other time zones too... Se the message below for details. Best regards, Magnus Enger ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Magnus Enger <magnus(a)enger.priv.no> Date: 7 June 2011 16:16 Subject: Global sign off day, 2011-06-15 To: Koha list <koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz>, koha-devel(a)lists.koha-community.org Dear all! (And sorry for cross posting... At least a little bit ;-) We had such great fun in Marseilles earlier this year, signing off patches, that I have been wondering if it would be possible to re-create some of that experience without incurring the costs of travel. I broached the subject on IRC earlier today and after the briefest and least democratic of processes, "we" decided to declare 15th June 2011 as a Global Sign Off Day: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Global_sign_off_day,_2011-06-15 The hope is that as many people as possible will be able to set aside as much other work as possible on this day, and concentrate on signing off patches, to reduce the queue of bugs that are currently waiting for sign-off (66 at this moment: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/buglist.cgi?bug_status=NEW&bug_sta…) We will try to visualise and document the progress that is made, to make it more fun and maybe even tickle the competitive instincts a little bit... ;-) And who knows, if this day is a success, maybe we could turn it into a regular tradition? * If you have not signed off on a patch before, now is the perfect time to do it! The more the merrier! The process is outlined here: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Sign_off_on_patches And there will be people on IRC that you can ask for help and guidance! Best regards, Magnus Enger * On the other hand, let's hope we can keep the queue as short as possible...

Dear Bob, Location (952$c) is basically the shelf location of the book in the library, regard to the library branch / holding branch. There is only one library with different shelf location (primary book, science book, reference book, etc). It will be appropriate if I use 952$a (for library branch/library holding as 'Main Library' in my database) and 952$c (as shelf location in my database) Please suggest. You don't seem to have branch data in your holdings statement (952). Koha requires both Home Branch (952$a) and Holding Branch (952$b). Refer to Koha to Marc Mapping on the Administration page for the fields expected by Koha. You do have Location (952$c) so if that is your library/branch, change it to 952$a then copy that to 952$b. The value must match exactly (including case) a value in your Libraries definition (Administration/Libraries, Branches, Groups). But first move Condition from 952$a to a more suitable sub-field. Dear All, I am trying to upload the database from excel file to KOHA below are the list of fields available in the excel sheet and the corresponding MARC tags code. But when I upload the data to the KOHA using MarcEdit Software, as there is multiple copies of single ISBN number, I have used the matching rules (ISBN as unique identifier) and it had successfully matched the record and displayed the record number wherever there is a matching of records (biblio number).
