Brand new koha installation

Hi all, First of all, I would like to say I am a complete beginner on these forums and also with koha itself. I have been tasked with setting up a brand new koha installation. I am wondering what is the best way to migrate my data from an in-house custom database to the newly installed koha application. I was thinking to export from the databse, to MARC format and do a bulk import of the records. I was also considering just running the import off the ISBN numbers and performing some data cleansing by looking up the MARC details using some cataloging service. Maybe I am being naive. I would appreciate any helpful direction in order to set me off on the correct path from the outset. Lost and Billed problem

Hi everyone, I am at a school district and the media specialists would like a way to bill the replacement cost for an item when it is overdue for 30 days but still have those items checked out to the patrons. Is it possible to have an item with the status lost and billed but still be checked out to the patron? Would like to remove barcodes from all branches but one

Hello, For various reasons I'd like to remove the barcodes assigned to items at all of our library's branches except one and start over. (Please, just don't ask why.) Is this something I can do with MarcEdit? Or is there a better way? Thank you very much. Upgrade to koha 3.4 breaks display

Hi I have upgraded Koha 3.2.3 to 3.4.1 Unfortunatly the display is broken The browser image starts with: " xml:lang="" dir="" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> and all the graphic elements are missing. The browser is loading and loading ... Hi there Is there anyway to generate an account notice? I already generate overdue notices, but want to send patrons a notice containing the amount they owe in fines and manual invoices. I use Koha 3.2.6 on Debian Lenny. tagging in koha

Hey all, How does Tagging work in Koha? Can it be done through the administrative end? I can't find a section for it, other than from the patron side. When I try to add tags to certain books as a patron, they do not save and the item does not appear when a search is done for that tag after. Suggestions? Dear Mamta Madam, You can export your records as MARC from Koha and edit the records using MARCEdit software. http://people.oregonstate.edu/~reeset/marcedit/html/downloads.html Then you can import in Koha. Koha 3.4 OpacHiddenItems continued

I'm terribly sorry, we had an alarm go off, and I apparently hit send before I finished my message. We need to know about OpacHiddenItems in 3.4 because in 3.2 we are using Lost to hide items in the opac. We don't like having something marked "LOST" when we know it isn't and and are very determined NOT to lose anything. Thank you, and again, I apologize. Virtual Koha

Hi Everyone, Is anyone looking at creating a virtualised version of Koha so that people could download a Virtual Machine based on Open Virtualisation Format Archive (OVA). I tend to use Virtualbox for testing VMs and have had to create a few Debian based VMs recently. What should be included? ie pre create a library, items, groups, patrons etc or just have a base install of 3.4 with nothing configured ? Would it be of any interest or help to do this?
