You don't seem to have branch data in your holdings statement (952). Koha requires both Home Branch (952$a) and Holding Branch (952$b). Refer to Koha to Marc Mapping on the Administration page for the fields expected by Koha. You do have Location (952$c) so if that is your library/branch, change it to 952$a then copy that to 952$b. The value must match exactly (including case) a value in your Libraries definition (Administration/Libraries, Branches, Groups). But first move Condition from 952$a to a more suitable sub-field. Dear All, I am trying to upload the database from excel file to KOHA below are the list of fields available in the excel sheet and the corresponding MARC tags code. But when I upload the data to the KOHA using MarcEdit Software, as there is multiple copies of single ISBN number, I have used the matching rules (ISBN as unique identifier) and it had successfully matched the record and displayed the record number wherever there is a matching of records (biblio number). Database is successfully created message comes and display the biblio number. But when I do OPAC search it display two option. Error 1: Copies does not exit Error 2: Copies available in (library branch name) but when I try to Place Hold, it shows copies not available or missing. But it seems to refer to Koha v.3 and I would like to download the newest version 4.2. What if any guidance can the community provide to me regarding installing on fresh install of Opensuse 11.4? Ed

RFI/RFP for FOSS -Librarians and Service Providers

Hello all from Montana, We have been having the craziest weather here and in the US in general. It is has been the longest winter for us that I can remember. Anyway, I am working on a white paper about equitable RFP and RFI (request for proposals or request for information) that are vendor neutral and gives FOSS library ware equal footing in the bidding process. In addition I have been contacted by the Montana Library Consortium (who currently uses Sirisi) to consult on their RFI for the shared catalog ILS for the same reason. Many of you who were at KohaCon 9 in TX. will remember the Montana State Library representative who attended(Mike Price) and he was less than kind in his reporting back to the state library. I have found RFP templates that I am currently modifying to create a format that is unbiased for FOSS and proprietary products. SO....if you have recently gone out for an RFP for your ILS and have information that I can incorporate into this white paper (and pass on the the Montana Shared Catalog) I would be grateful. Of course time is of the essence, so please send me what you have or point me to info that would be important to consider. I responded to Lee offline quite awhile ago, but since posts from non-consultants were asked for, here is how we handled the RFP for NEKLS. After a prior experience contracting with a vendor who refused to deal with an RFP, it is our policy to never select an ILS vendor without an RFP. Most recently we used an RFP in selecting a new Koha support vendor with good response. We did not attempt to separate price from non-price proposals, and in fact used a preliminary evaluation matrix with a 20%/80% ratio for price and non-price factors. Although it was certainly not the only factor, cost was an integral part of our decision making, but we did not select the lowest priced proposal. Koha customizing Perl templates

New biblios show no items in search results (3.4)

Catalogue records created after our switch to 3.4 have an interesting quirk. In the staff interface: The search results for these new records show no items in the hit list. But if you click on the title to bring up the normal view, the items are there, and are fully functional. The OPAC seems unaffected. The records created before we moved to 3.4 are also unaffected.
