mandatory & default value ignored when adding items
by Cindy Murdock Ames 24 Jun '11

24 Jun '11

Hi all, I just noticed yesterday on an install (from git, on debian squeeze) of 3.4 that when I add an item not only does it ignore the "hidden" property (bug 6439: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=6439) but it also ignores the default values that I've set for some fields as well as the "mandatory" setting. Am I missing something in the configuration, is it a bug, or is it just me? Cheers! A Problem
by Haik Zargaryan 24 Jun '11

24 Jun '11

Dear Koha community I have recently started to examine Koha and immediatelly face a couple of problems. Firstly, I try to place a hold on an item the Koha prevents me of ding it and displays a message, namely Cannot Place Hold Too Many Holds: Haik Zargarian has too many holds. No copies are available to be placed on hold In fact, Haik Zargarian (fictive patron) has no holds on his account and there are sevreal available items for this record. Secondly, when I import a Marc-record in Koha it does not show the authors name and simply ignores the fact, that I have properly indicated the data in the "Personal name" section of this field 100 ? - MAIN ENTRY--PERSONAL NAME −. Furthermore, when I access an existing record Koha diplays its author's name. However, when I enter the "Edit" section and save the record without changing even a letter, the author's name evaporates and I see a data like this Additional Authors: Williams, Richard S., Iceland--Orkustofnun Series: U. S. Geological Survey Professional paper ; . No. 1746 Published by: U.S. Department of the Interior/U.S. Geological Survey, (Reston, Va. :) Description: x, 225 p. : ill. (chiefly col.), maps ; 28 cm. Please, any comments or explanations. Thanks in advance

Newbie problem, Makefile error
by Angela.Secrest 23 Jun '11

23 Jun '11

Hi, y'all. I'm installing (or trying to) on Solaris 10. I consider it a miracle that I've made this much progress. :-) I'm a newbie to Koha, not to systems. I've downloaded and unpacked koha-3.04.01.tar.gz. The perl modules are all installed with the exception of Graphics Magic and DBD::SQLite2. My makefile (perl Makefile.PL) is bombing with: "Could not open 'kohaversion.pl': No such file or directory at /opt/csw/share/perl/5.10.1/ExtUtils/MM_Unix.pm line 2631" I've searched the Koha sites and googled, but haven't found a solution to this one. How can I fix it, please and thanks in advance! Best regards, Angela Angela K. installing spanish language in koha 3.4.1
by Alberto Martín 23 Jun '11

23 Jun '11

Hello, I have koha 3.4.1 installed in a linode vps with ubuntu 10.04 lts. Yesterday I tried to install the spanish language with some instructions I found in the koha wiki. I was in the folder ../../misc/translator and I wrote the command perl translate install es-ES but I got this in return: Can't locate C4/Context.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.10.1 /usr/local/share/perl/5.10.1 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.10 /usr/share/perl/5.10 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at LangInstaller.pm line 23. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at LangInstaller.pm line 23. Compilation failed in require at translate line 25. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at translate line 25. I have seen that other people have had similar problems trying to install other languages, in previous versions of koha, but I couldn't find any solution. -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/installing-spanish-language-in-koha-3-4-1… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Problems with items and barcodes in 3.4
by Elaine Bradtke 23 Jun '11

23 Jun '11

We're having problems with our item records since upgrading to 3.4. I reported earlier that after upgrading to 3.4, newly created biblios show "no items" in the hit list in staff interface (though they show up in the OPAC). This is still not resolved. Another possibly related issue - barcode searches fail, on all records - old and new. We get the messages: No results match your search for 'kw,wrdl: 17020' or No results match your search for 'bc,wrdl: 17020' if you search for barcode specifically. When we upgraded we ran the script to remove item data from the marcxml. Is there a way to check that this worked correctly? Will it cause problems if we run it again? But even so, that shouldn't cause problems with the post-upgrade cataloguing, should it? Any thoughts on what we should check or how we might solve these problems would be greatly appreciated. -- Elaine Bradtke Data Wrangler VWML English Folk Dance and Song Society | http://www.efdss.org Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 7AY Tel +44 (0) 20 7485 2206 ext 36 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Registered Company No. 297142 Charity Registered in England and Wales No. 305999 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture" --Elvis Costello (Musician magazine No. 60 (October 1983), p. 52)

Report on listing of all the title, author, etc. catalogued by a cataloger
by schnydszch 23 Jun '11

23 Jun '11

Good day koha users. I was trying to figure out in the Reports Module of Koha the listing of all the title, author, barcode/accession no., and call number of a certain librarian/staff. The modification log of koha shows only the module, what the staff did in that module and the info. Can I possibly do an mySQL query on what I want to do? Hope you can help me. thanks. -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Report-on-listing-of-all-the-title-author… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
