Koha drop down box for States?
by Linda Culberson 30 Jun '11

30 Jun '11

All, In Koha 3.4 the state is a separate field (Hooray!!) Is there a way to tie it to a an authorized value (I've done one for the states and territories of the United States) and would like it to be a drop down. online card apps in Koha
by Crockett, John 30 Jun '11

30 Jun '11

Hello All, Are any libraires using a realtime online library card application process? At Washoe County Library System we will migrate to Koha later this year. We would like patrons to fill out library card applications at a self-service computer station and then immediately present verification of residency to receive their card. Any experience with form building programs or anything else? Thanks for your input. John Crockett Internet Librarian www.washoecountylibrary.us 775-327-8364, c-775-846-4581

Re Linux anti-virus software and other security issues - UPDATE
by Buster 30 Jun '11

30 Jun '11

Thanks to all who responded to my query with the very helpful information. I went to the City Council meeting loaded for bear, but it turned out to be unnecessary. I gave our library director a list of anti-virus programs available for Linux and he passed it on to the councilman in question, along with the promise we would install one. That appears to have been sufficient to appease him. Our agenda item remained part of the consent agenda and it passed without question. Today we begin the process of getting Koha on board as our ILS. I would love to just run it on a Linux server, but alas the virtual machine on a Microsoft platform was a necessary compromise to get our IT department on board during the RFP process. We may have been able to win that battle, but it would have definitely been a battle, since all RFP must be approved by the Finance Director, and IT is (oddly) in the finance department. Thanks again for all the help. --Jim Maroon On Mon, Jun 27, 2011 at 12:43 PM, Buster <storypage(a)gmail.com> wrote: > > Hello, all. > > We have selected Koha for our ILS and plan to run it in a virtual machine > on a Windows server. CFParticipation: SIP 3 draft up for voting
by MJ Ray 29 Jun '11

29 Jun '11

As you may know, Galen and myself were invited to discuss the SIP 3 draft that 3M are preparing. SIP is the Standard Interchange Protocol (also called Standard Interface Protocol or Self-Issue Protocol in some documentation), used for connecting issuing terminals (or whatever) to Koha or other Library Management Systems. A draft has now been sent for us to vote on. We can agree, agree with comments or disagree with comments (or fail to vote ;-) ) If you have particular questions about things that caused you problems with SIP 2 and you think should be fixed in SIP 3, please ask me and I'll try to find the answer. If you'd like a general list of the changes or sight of the draft, let me know and I'll see what I can share under the various agreements I've made to see SIP 3. Of course, I hope that it'll be freely shareable once it's agreed, but I'd like it to be drafted as well as it can be before that. Hope that helps, -- MJ Ray (slef), member of www.software.coop, a for-more-than-profit co-op. Webmaster, Debian Developer, Past Koha RM, statistician, former lecturer. Hello, For those of you already using the inventory module in Koha 3.2 : how are you dealing huge files of barcodes ? Have you experienced problems ? I plan to upload batches of 5000 barcodes each, does it sound acceptable for you ? Or have you performed with bigger batches ? Many thanks in advance for your advices, Best regards, Marlène -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Inventory-barcode-limit-tp4534810p4534810… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
