Fwd: Kohacon11 : An appeal for sponsorship
by Bob Birchall 10 Jul '11

10 Jul '11

Hi all, KohaCon11 will be held in Thane, India and is now less than three months away. With about 130 registrations so far, this already promises to be the largest KohaCon ever. Not registered? See here: http://kohacon11.vpmthane.org/ocs/index.php/k/k11/schedConf/registration The organisers seek your support to increase the conference budget. KohaCon is again a free conference, and the organising committee is heavily dependant upon sponsorship for provision of conference facilities. For example, the extent of recording and broadcasting of proceedings - especially important to those who cannot attend - is dependent on the availability of funds. I am forwarding the original call for sponsors, posted by Koustubha back in March. Below that you'll find the link to the payment gateway. One of the options you will find there is the opportunity to purchase space in the conference booklet. That provides you with opportunity to promote your company or library, or just to say Hi to conference attendees. Don't miss this chance. :) Whether you are a library, support company or interested onlooker, please consider a small contribution towards an outstanding KohaCon in India from 31 October. Many thanks, Bob ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Koustubha Kale <kmkale(a)anantcorp.com> Date: Wed, Mar 23, 2011 at 2:47 PM Subject: Kohacon11 : An appeal for sponsorship To: Hello, Please find attached an appeal for sponsorship from Dr Vijay Bedekar, chairman, Vidya Prasarak Mandal, Thane. Global bug squashing day #2 - 1 short summary and 2 questions
by Magnus Enger 09 Jul '11

09 Jul '11

Dear Community! GBSD#2 should now be finnished in all timezones (I think), and here are some of the results: Does not apply 63 -> 38 Failed QA 53 -> 57 Needs Signoff 50 -> 53 Passed QA 1 -> 8 Signed Off 90 -> 94 http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/2011-07-08_Global_bug_squashing_day#Num… Now that actually looks less impressive than it is. A lot of bugs were moved from "Does not apply" to "Needs signoff" (hence the increase in "Needs signoff), and some were moved from "Signed off" to "Passed QA" etc. See the link above for some "snapshots" taken during the day. This page: http://bugs.koha-community.org/cgi-bin/progress.pl shows 44 bugs changing status on 2011-07-07 and 2011-07-08. And as Paul has already said somewhere else, a lot of work was also put into organizing RFCs on the wiki: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Category:RFC_Status All in all, a productive day for Koha, I think! A couple of questions: * BibLibre are having "community days" every other Friday (as far as I have heard). Should there be GBSDs to coincide with every one of these, or is every other enough (= GBSD every 4 weeks)? (I think for me personally dedicating 1 day every 4 weeks to this stuff is probably the best I can do at the moment, but others might see it differently.) * Is Friday the best day for GBSDs? (I know I personally want to make pizza and be around the wife and the dogs when Friday afternoon comes around, whereas on another weekday it might be easier to get some work done after dinner. Whaddaya think?) Best regards, Magnus Enger

Max-lenght for branch names / location names
by anita 08 Jul '11

08 Jul '11

Hello ! I just want to know if it is possible to change the max-lenght of the branch/library names. The input field is now set to maxlenght=80. (The input field under the Library code.) Unfortunately it is sometimes too short to mention the full library name. Can I change this default setting easily or must I change the database settings too ? Thank you -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Max-lenght-for-branch-names-location-name… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Adding a 591 to Koha 3.4
by Linda Culberson 07 Jul '11

07 Jul '11

All, I have been trying unsuccessfully to have a 591 field show up in the default and other frameworks in Koha 3.4. The field appears to be there when setting up the frameworks, but when I go to do a new catalog record or open a record that has a 591 field it isn't there. I have the 591 in as repeatable, using tab 5, and have tried visibility options for subfield 'a' as 0, 1, and 4. Since I don't want it to appear in the opac, I would prefer the "hidden" setting to be 1 or 4. When I couldn't get it to appear when adding a new record I changed it to 0 but it still is not the when adding or editing a record. We had moved our donor/cost information from the 590 to the 591 to keep it from appearing in the OPAC, but the effect has be for it to disappear entirely from the staff client as well as the OPAC. I can see it in biblioitems.marcxml where datafield tag='591' so I know that the data is there. Has any one else noticed this behavior or have a solution? Re: [Koha] Problems with items and barcodes in 3.4 is it zebra glitch?
by Elaine Bradtke 07 Jul '11

07 Jul '11

Finally got a chance to sit down with my IT guru and look at this. He says we've got sufficient memory for the processing. There's something happening with the zebra indexing. After installing the latest update and rebuilding the zebra, everything looked and worked as it should. Then I went in and changed one character in one record and then the saved record showed no items in the short list, and when I searched for the barcode associated with that record's item the search failed. The item information is there if you go to the record. Unmodified records were still ok (as of midnight last night British Summer Time). He' has updated the bug [6435] with more technical information. This problem has caused a slight snag in our cataloguing routine, I'm just glad we don't yet use Koha for circualtion! Koha 3.4.02: Date::ICal and SMS::Send Perl modules issue on openSUSE 11.4
by Andi Sugandi 06 Jul '11

06 Jul '11

Hi Developers, I succeeded installing Koha 3.4.02 on openSUSE 11.4[0] computer, but I found issues: Koha installer *did not see* two Perl modules: the Date::ICal[1] (on koha's web installer) and SMS::Send[2] (after installed) though those were already installed from rpm package[3]. Any ideas how to fix the issues? If these can be solved so openSUSE Packagers can produce Koha (RPM) packgae easier. I ask Lars so we can collaborate to make Koha package (on OBS[4]) get available right after Koha upstream get its new release. Thanks in advance.
