CFParticipation: SIP 3 draft up for voting

As you may know, Galen and myself were invited to discuss the SIP 3 draft that 3M are preparing. SIP is the Standard Interchange Protocol (also called Standard Interface Protocol or Self-Issue Protocol in some documentation), used for connecting issuing terminals (or whatever) to Koha or other Library Management Systems. A draft has now been sent for us to vote on. We can agree, agree with comments or disagree with comments (or fail to vote ;-) ) If you have particular questions about things that caused you problems with SIP 2 and you think should be fixed in SIP 3, please ask me and I'll try to find the answer. If you'd like a general list of the changes or sight of the draft, let me know and I'll see what I can share under the various agreements I've made to see SIP 3. Of course, I hope that it'll be freely shareable once it's agreed, but I'd like it to be drafted as well as it can be before that. Inventory : barcode limit ?

Hello, For those of you already using the inventory module in Koha 3.2 : how are you dealing huge files of barcodes ? Have you experienced problems ? I plan to upload batches of 5000 barcodes each, does it sound acceptable for you ? Or have you performed with bigger batches ? Adding Stop Words

Does anyone know how to add stop words to a Koha instance using Zebra? I think they need to be added to the word-phrase-utf.chr file, but the formatting in that file is not clear to me. I would like to add the words 'and' and 'or' because I notice that if you do a search with them Zebra is using them as search terms, which is a behavior I do not want. Linux anti-virus software and other security issues

Hello, all. We have selected Koha for our ILS and plan to run it in a virtual machine on a Windows server. The contract goes before our City Council tomorrow night. It is on the consent agenda, which means it will be voted on along with a slew of other measures. There is no debate, just up or down vote, unless a councilman has a concern. A councilman has a concern. He is the former head of our IT department, is a Windows guy, and dislikes and distrusts anything Linux. His specific concern is security. Namely, he is worried someone can hack into our system and steal patron information. He is also concerned about mal-ware in general and wants us to install antivirus software on it. So I guess my questions are, how do I answer the patron information concern, and how do I answer the malware concern? How do the rest of you handle Linux security concerns? What antivirus software do you use and from whence do you get it? Please explain it to me in a way even a Windows guy with zero understanding of Linux will understand it. Hi, The concatenation as suggested by you works while importing data into Koha and it generates only one item. In the initial marc file there are different entries for 952 sub fields. I edited the marc file using marc editor and concatenated the 952 subfields as one line 952$a[Value]$b[Value]$c[Value]$p... It is ok to do for one record. But how to do it for multiple records. I meant how to cancatenate 952 subrecords for multiple records in a marc file. The data will not be the same for all items. Can you please suggest?
