3.8 vanishing authorities
by Elaine Bradtke 29 Aug '12

29 Aug '12

This is really odd, because it works ok in the test site, but not production. When I search on headings, the topical terms erroneously claim to have 0 biblios attached. They were there yesterday. The name authorities are fine. I'm trying to figure out what is different between the test and production sites that would cause this problem. And why only the topical terms? 3.8.4 search on barcode
by Elaine Bradtke 29 Aug '12

After the upgrade, when we try to search on barcode, it doesn't return the appropriate record, unless you go to advanced search and select barcode. Is this an expected behaviour? It used to work as a keyword search. -- Elaine Bradtke Data Wrangler VWML English Folk Dance and Song Society | http://www.efdss.org Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 7AY Tel +44 (0) 20 7485 2206 (This number is for the English Folk Dance and Song Society in London, England. Communicating with Koha Session variables
by sheldon_tappin 29 Aug '12

Hi All, I would like to create a web app using php that should communicate with Koha ILS for authentication purposes. Can anyone provide the information on how I can talk to the session or cookie variables in koha. Your help will be very beneficial to our library. As a point of reference, we have totally identical results in 3.6.1, 3.6.7 and 3.8.4. [and it doesn't jump directly to the detail page for that record.] Barcode search (both OPAC and staff) is fully functional from any "search" in the library catalogue - not just full/advanced selecting 'Barcode'. However, while the first line of the results is "perfect" it continues with some rather "fuzzy" but logical follow-ups corresponding to the first 8 alphanemerics only: Search for 11NAT09120001 finds in this order: 11NAT09120001 11NAT09110001 11NAT09100001 11NAT09120002 11NAT09120003 -- if I search for 11NAT it finds 207 results (and the 207th is still good ... ) In any case, the functionality appears to have continued through the versions; CAVEAT: 3.6.7 and 3.8.4 were new installs on different servers using an sql dump/restore from our production 3.6.1, and were not "upgrades" in the sense of overwriting a previous install. Problem checking out books
by Darla Grediagin 28 Aug '12

28 Aug '12

Good morning, This weekend we updated to 3.06.07. I can no longer check books out to people. Circulation recognizes the catalog items, when I check the item out to someone, the status will change from 'available' to nothing. The item won't show up as checked out or have a due date, the word available just goes away. If I look at what the patron has checked out, they will have nothing checked out. if I scan to check an item to check it in, it will tell me that the item isn't checked out and the status doesn't change to available. Any help you have will be very much appreciated, Darla -- Darla Grediagin District Librarian Bering Strait School District Unalakleet, Alaska Web Address : http://bssdonline.org/course/view.php?id=51 Blog: http://aklibrarian1.edublogs.org/ OPAC: http://opac.bssd.org:8282

Rather than updating biblioitems.marcxml, a better approach would simply be rebuild your Zebra index (or use touch_all_biblios.pl to tell Koha to reindex just the bibs whose items you modified). Unless you had changed your MARC frameworks to use the 852 field for item data rather than the 952, if the 852s are from your previous system, I'd suggest that you actually *delete* them. A bib export from Koha will include the item data in 952 fields if you need them for record interchange or union catalog purposes, and getting rid of the legacy 852s avoids the risk of confusing staff about the state of an item record. Hi Irakli, please always reply to the list so others can follow the discussions. That increases the chance of getting answers from other people too. I don't know of documentation for the XSLT in Koha. What I did was open the file, look how things are done for other fields and use that for fields I wanted to edit or add. -- Mirko Irakli Garibashvili schrieb > Thanks! > that is helpful! > > Could you point any documentation for XSLT? > > Irakli > > -------------------------------------------------- > From: "Mirko" <5p4m(a)gmx.de> > Sent: Friday, August 24, 2012 3:24 PM > To: <koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz> > Subject: Re: [Koha] corporate author field does not show in staff > normal view > >> Hello Irakli, >> >> Irakli Garibashvili schrieb am 24.08.2012 13:21:23 >> >>> >>> Is there any way to control display format - "normal view"? >> >> Are you using XSLT? Barcode info and maybe SQL/MARCXML help needed
by Doug Dearden 28 Aug '12

28 Aug '12

Hello all, We are running Koha version 3.4 - all the details are pasted below. I am working on cleaning up our barcodes, as we mistakenly converted them from our old system (Follett) adding some characters to some of them, and have also input them incorrectly when cataloging since then. The librarian doesn't have any problem checking things in and out right now as they are consistently wrong, so she knows how to reinterpret a barcode into the format that has been recorded in the database. Our concern is for that future time when we want to do inventory using a scanner, and the barcode as scanned doesn't match what is in the database. I have found barcodes in two places. In the items table, barcode field and in the biblioitems table, marcxml field. From what I can tell the latter location dates back to our conversion from Follett, as I left the information that Follett stored in the 852 record intact against that day when we might need it. I have figured out how to update the items table using an SQL "Update" statement. I have also figured out how to get a report out of the biblioitems table using a Select statement against the marcxml field like this: SELECT ExtractValue (marcxml ,'//datafield[@tag="852"]/subfield[@code="p"]') FROM biblioitems WHERE marcxml RLIKE '<datafield tag="852"' AND ( ExtractValue(marcxml, '//datafield[@tag="852"]/subfield[@code="p"]/text()') LIKE 'T000____'); In trying to rewrite this to update the barcode portion of the field, to remove the leading "T" I came up with this: SELECT UpdateXML (biblioitems.marcxml, '//datafield[@tag="852"]/subfield[@code="p"]/text("T000____")', RIGHT('//datafield[@tag="852"]/subfield[@code="p"]/text()',7)) However, that returns an error "Unknown table 'biblioitems' in field list" . So I have a few of questions. 1. If I fix the barcodes in the items table, will that do it? Or does Koha store them somewhere else? 2. Even if Koha only uses the ones in the items table, any ideas how to fix my UpdateXML statement so it works? (Just to keep things matched up). 3. If an UpdateXML statement won't work on the marcxml field, any suggestions for another approach? We recently updated to version 3.8 and suddenly the SQL command lines are appearing at the top of any report we run/print. Any ideas to get rid of this?
