Thanks Chris, that seems to have fixed it. So glad it was a Bank Holiday in the UK today, or the library director would have been having kittens by now. Koha 3.8.x: Loan for 0 days
by Oscar Gaona 27 Aug '12

27 Aug '12

Hi all I've been configuring a Circulation Rule with Zero (0) days for loans in Koha 3.2, 3.4 and 3.6 without any problems ('Checked out on' date and 'Due date' are the same) but for Koha 3.8.x this seems impossible: 'Due date' displays a date 21 days after the 'Cheked out on' date. Where can be the problem? Any idea to solve it? Thanks in advance. Oscar

Upgrade to 3.8 causes phantom search results
by Elaine Bradtke 27 Aug '12

27 Aug '12

Strange thing happened after we upgraded to 3.8 (from 3.4). We seem to have ghosts Hits that lead nowhere, in both the OPAC and staff interface. When a search is performed it lists x number of results. Scroll down the list and many of them look normal Some however have a result number, and nothing else - no title, no items, nothing. If you mouseover the link it says biblioitemno= [blank] If you click on edit record, you get a blank form. It appears that somehow the number of hits is doubling, and half of these are non-existent. This conclusion is from a very small sample set, working with a few titles that I know are unique. The ghost appears immediately following the real record in the hit list. Rebuilt the zebra, and it still does it. We didn't notice it at first, because in the staff interface, the ghosts come at the end of the hit list, and when I test upgrades I tend to go for searches that I know will hit a wide swath of the catalogue, so I didn't see the problem at the end of the list. Oddly, it's more noticeable in the OPAC. http://catalogue.efdss.org/ if you want to see. Try search terms queen and mogul for a small set of hits. Is there some setting that would cause this? I admit to meddling with some of the global preferences following the upgrade, but nothing radical. Changing them back didn't seem to fix the problem. -- Elaine Bradtke Data Wrangler VWML English Folk Dance and Song Society | http://www.efdss.org Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 7AY Tel +44 (0) 20 7485 2206 (This number is for the English Folk Dance and Song Society in London, England. 3.8 Authorities - need help with see references
by Elaine Bradtke 27 Aug '12

27 Aug '12

First, I'd like to say I appreciate the finer grain control the new version has as far as creating authorities goes. But. . . and this is a problem I had in earlier versions as well - I still can't get my see references to display properly. When you search on the correct term the references to incorrect forms are displayed. for example: Topical Term: World War, 1914-1918 used for/see from: WW I used for/see from: World War I But that's not very useful if someone is searching on the incorrect form. In fact, if you search on the incorrect form in authorities it displays what is intended as a see reference as if it were an authorized heading, and does not list the reference to the authorized version. I've resorted to adding [Not Used] to the incorrect form 1XX field. Example: Topical Term: WW I [Not Used] You have to click on Details see what heading is authorized, and then it displays in tiny type above the authority record, with no explanation. Here's the 260 for this heading: 260 ## - COMPLEX SEE REFERENCE--SUBJECT a Heading referred to World War, 1914-1918 5 Institution code UKLoVW Note: I have entered a $0 with the record number for the correct heading, set it to display in the MARC framework, but it still doesn't display unless you are actually editing the authority record. I have gotten lost in the maze of MARC format for authorities and don't know which way is up anymore. I think I've got the 008 for the see references set correctly. Tried everything I could think of, but it still isn't working. Has anyone gotten see references to work? And if so, could you show me what you did? -- Elaine Bradtke Data Wrangler VWML English Folk Dance and Song Society | http://www.efdss.org Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 7AY Tel +44 (0) 20 7485 2206 (This number is for the English Folk Dance and Song Society in London, England.
