Patron Import
by Seth Mayo 12 Oct '12

12 Oct '12

Today we have been trying to upload new patron images...we continuously get this message: Patron image failed to upload - Unpacking completed - 1 directories scanned. - 1 directories processed. - - Cardnumber: *WARNING:* This image *not* imported because the cardnumber and filename is missing. Any ideas? We've checked the format of the file and it is identical to the tutorial on the Koha website - and yet, it looks like the card numbers aren't being read because there isn't one printed in the message. If anyone has any idea - your help would be much appreciated! I'm out of ideas for the moment. Thanks in advance! CAS authentification
by Samuel Desseaux 11 Oct '12

11 Oct '12

Hi, We plan to use our CAS in order to access to the intranet and , for the user, to his account. I work with mod-proxy on apache and my questions are about configuration. I've created 3 files in /apache2/conf.d 1) cas.conf > <Proxy *> > Order Allow,Deny > Allow from All > AuthName "Acces Intranet" > AuthType CAS > Require valid-user ************************ > </Proxy> > Can i duplicate this block for the opac in the same file? 2)proxy_opac.conf > ProxyRequests On > ProxyPass /cgi-bin/koha/ ! > ProxyPass /cgi-bin/koha/ http://localhost:80/cgi-bin/opac/opac-user.pl > ProxyPassReverse /cgi-bin/koha/ > http://localhost:80/cgi-bin/opac/opac-user.pl > ProxyPreserveHost On I've some doubt on the writing because i've the following error HTTP Status 404 *type* Status report *message* _/cgi-bin/koha/opac-user.pl_ *description* _The requested resource (/cgi-bin/koha/opac-user.pl) is not available._ 3)proxy_intranet.conf > ProxyRequests On > ProxyPass /cgi-bin/koha ! > ProxyPass /cgi-bin/koha http://localhost:8080/cgi-bin/koha/mainpage.pl > ProxyPassReverse /cgi-bin/koha > http://localhost:8080/cgi-bin/koha/mainpage.pl > ProxyPreserveHost On Best regards samuel

upgrade 3.6.1 to 3.8.5 & DOM vs GRS1
by Hugo Agud 11 Oct '12

11 Oct '12

Dear all I write this mail because we wish to share this issue with you and ask you If you have had similar experiences We have upgraded a koha 3.6.1 to 3.8.5 with success no error messages, no where however we have found some strange behaviour in the Zebra index.. If we upgrade koha and configure zebra for using DOM, some records are missing, although they are in the mysql (we have seen the bugzilla and we have applied it , and some records appears but we do not rely completly on this index, we fear that some records are still missing... a search in 3.8.5 and 3.6.1 gives different number of results and we do not know if this happens becasue of the change of indexing in DOM or because there are still lmissing records.... however the subject search it matachs 100% both servers. If we upgrade koha and condigure grs1 we get the exact result list in 3.6.1 and 3.8.5 but all the records are empty, with no data... (no error logs nowhere), koha 3.8.5 gives 13 ersults... and is list them with no data... (we have reindexed them with -x and without -x) we suspect perhaps some kind of character problem indexing...... Now we're going to maka a fresh install instead of a upgrade and check the behaviour of zebra results... Anybody has experienced a similar behaviour? we're going tin make a fresh install of Koha 3.8.5 and transfer the database and check it in order to compare both index (the upgraded and fresh install) Data from the server (perhaps we should upgrade zebra?) Thank you oXygen!
by Nicole Engard 10 Oct '12

10 Oct '12

Hello all, An update on the manual XML editor situation. I sent an email to the folks at oXygen and explained that I needed a tool for an open source product manual and without any questions or sales pitch they provided me with a license that I will be using to write our Koha manual!! I will write up a blog post about this thanking the kind folks at oXygen, but I wanted to let you all know that I have found a solution to our problem and hopefully won't need another tool ever again (since oXygen is so powerful!). Thanks Nicole C. Engard Koha Documentation Manager

Re: [Koha] Recommendation for barcode scanner for a Mac?
by Steve Campbell 09 Oct '12

Hi, Leslie, We use a Symbol LS2208 scanner. It's available online for about US$170. We chose it because it is programmable - something we needed because we have two different barcode formats to scan. We use it on a Windows box, but I have tested it on my Mac too. As a USB device, it essentially acts as a second keyboard, so it should work fine with Windows, Macs, Linux, or just about anything. Recommendation for barcode scanner for a Mac?
by Lesley Kimball 09 Oct '12

09 Oct '12

Hi all, Is anyone using a barcode scanner with Koha on OS X that you would recommend? Lesley Kimball ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You see, I don't believe that libraries should be drab places where people sit in silence, and that's been the main reason for our policy of employing wild animals as librarians. -- Monty Python, "Gorilla Librarian" sketch ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lesley Kimball Director Wiggin Memorial Library Stratham, NH <mailto:Director@WigginML.org> Director(a)WigginML.org
