I have been attempting to upgrade an installation from 3.2 running on Ubuntu (was a Live CD install) to a Debian 3.8.5 via packages. I did a mysqldump from 3.2, then restored this to a newly created 3.8.5 instance. then ran koha-upgrade-schema and then koha-upgrade-to-3.4 then koha-rebuild-zebra -f All looks good and then... search any item, OPAC shows "copies available (1)" but details has no holdings information. Research turned up suggestion of dropping the database, restore from mysqldump and then go to admin interface where it then wants to upgrade database which it does but then on attempting to log in I get this error " Can't call method "param" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth.pm line 667 koha" Whereupon I come to a grinding halt. Dear Friends, Live CD/DVDs are essential part of any Free software project. We can find that Live CD/DVDs are available in many popular Free software projects like Dspace and Eprints. Live CD/DVDs are easy to try and install for non techies. Manual installation of Koha is difficult process for most of library professionals. In the present situation, Koha project has not released official Live CD/DVD. It is high time to think about the development of an official live cd/dvd from Koha team. In my experience, popularity of Koha increased in India after the availability of live cd/dvd. Organising Koha workshops are now easy with Koha Live cd/dvd. Installation of Koha by participants in workshops ate good part of the time. Now participants can try Koha at home or workplace after the workshop without much effort. I had created a live cd and dvd based on Ubuntu 10.04 with the help of Remastersys. https://sourceforge.net/projects/kohalivecd-lite https://sourceforge.net/projects/kohalivedvd/ But I could not develop a live cd based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS due to its incompatibility with Remastersys. Lot of other live cd/dvds are available and useful for community; library professsionals, LIS teachers, students and research scholars. I request Koha community and developers should think about the release of official Koha Live CD/DVD. Then only we can achieve uniformity in Koha Live CD/DVD development and release. ISBN - must they be unique?

In the process of cleaning up data to prepare for a batch upload into Koha, I have noticed that some of our ISBNs are not unique. These are books from small independent publishers who forgot to change the ISBN when they issued a new book. I'm happy to leave them in the ISBN field (020a ) as long as this won't cause problems in Koha. Looking at the framework it is also tagged as biblioitems.isbn. I know record matching uses ISBN. Does anyone know if the contents of this field must be unique? Servers for US Libraries

If you do get servers or workstations with Windows preinstalled, _typically_ the grant requirements do not prevent you from removing it and installing Linux. They also have networking equipment and other hardware. zebra problem

hi when i use koha with zebra i face a problem wiht arabic record, if i write any arabic word in any search field, koha retreives all the arabic records saving in it, but when i cancel zebra everything goes ok. my question is : can i use koha without zebra? and what is the deffirence between zebra and non zebra ??? i'm using koha live cd by mizstik. thank you

When I make a search than I click on the "Author" in the "Refine your Search" I have this result: /"No results found No results match your search for 'kw,wrdl: saramago' with limit(s): 'au:Jose Saramago au:Saramago,, Jose'."/ If I change in the address bar *From:* "htp://mykoha/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/search.pl?idx=kw&q=saramago&limit=au:*Saramago,, Jose"* *To:* "htp://mykoha/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/search.pl?idx=kw&q=saramago&limit=au:*Jose Saramago"* I get the results expected. A new open source project on Drupal related to sigb (and so koha)

Hello, I am pleased to announce that we contributed a new drupal module called opac: http://drupal.org/project/opac Announcement is here: http://drupal.biblibre.com/en/blog/entry/biblibre-contributes-the-drupal-op… evolves a lot but you can begin to test it and give us feedbacks :) The first sigb we connected is, of course, koha. It is an other way to provide opac and others things around, it is and independant full project related to whatever sigb you want. I would like to introduce a difficulty we encounted: we wanted to build on top of Ils-di but not everything can be done with it (and we found some bugs). We wonder how to expose koha services to build a significant drupal site. Ncip2 is not sufficient for us, so we've made a choice. For the moment, we are building a Koha::REST interface. The project is published http://git.biblibre.com/?p=koha-restful;a=summary but not yet submitted to the community. You can have a look and tell us what you think. If you want to send us patches, please do it, if you prefer I could clone it in github but the risk is that the project wont be up to date everyday. Regards, Claire.
