Hello all, An update on the manual XML editor situation. I sent an email to the folks at oXygen and explained that I needed a tool for an open source product manual and without any questions or sales pitch they provided me with a license that I will be using to write our Koha manual!! I will write up a blog post about this thanking the kind folks at oXygen, but I wanted to let you all know that I have found a solution to our problem and hopefully won't need another tool ever again (since oXygen is so powerful!). Hi, Leslie, We use a Symbol LS2208 scanner. It's available online for about US$170. We chose it because it is programmable - something we needed because we have two different barcode formats to scan. We use it on a Windows box, but I have tested it on my Mac too. As a USB device, it essentially acts as a second keyboard, so it should work fine with Windows, Macs, Linux, or just about anything. Roles for Koha 3.12

Dear community, with the start of the release cycle on October 22, work on Koha 3.12 will officially begin. As most of you probably know, there are several roles to be assigned per release and it is time to do that for Koha 3.12. There are some proposals for most of the roles already, they can be found on the Wiki (link below). As of now, we are especially looking forward to proposals for * Quality Assurance (QA) Manager * Release Maintainer for 3.6.x * Meeting chair and we would also like to encourage you to consider volunteering for any other position that sounds attractive and feasible to you. Some positions can and should be filled with more than one person, others positions can also use assistants. It is a nice opportunity to learn more about Koha, help with the development of your favourite free software library system and work together with very friendly people. Please add yourself to the Wiki if you think you would be able to help with any of the positions, feel free to add a proposal that may include everything from information about yourself to your visions for Koha. There will be an IRC meeting (mostly) dedicated to voting for all of these roles. This meeting will be held on october 10, 10+00 UTC. That's right, 10.10., 10 UTC. Even if you won't apply for a role yourself please consider reading the proposals and voting to show your support for the Koha volunteers. Approve Patron's contact information

When a patron edits his/her contact information, it shows that approval is required by the librarian. Need help on how to approve this update request. For just a very few of our holdings (and so far we haven't found a pattern for the behaviour), we are getting a "double vision" effect in Firefox, Chrome, Opera so it doesn't seem to be browser specific. The book/item is found without problem, but just under the "Holdings - Title notes - Comments" tabs, it starts a new "page" with "No results found!" As soon as you click on any of those tabs, the "double" disappears ... but "reload" brings it back ... Acquisitions / Lack of Rollover

Our library has been using Acquisitions this last year, and just realized that there is no rollover functionality. We are wondering if any other libraries use acquisitions. Record matches in bulk MARC imports

I am contemplating setting up different record matching rules since an ISBN is lacking for many of our titles and I know there are some overlaps with what's already in the system. - I would like to build a record matching rule on author, title and publication date. Has anyone done this already? - How can I see what the new parameters are doing before I import the staged records (at the point when they're still in the reservoir)? Just to make sure it is working as expected. Is there a way to output a list of matched records at this stage? - As the staged records are imported, do you have the opportunity to interact with the matched records (say yes or no to import, or override the setting for individual matched records?) Maybe I'm asking for too much control, but we've got lots of very similar titles without ISBN (Twenty-four country dances for the year XXXX) in the collection. Maybe I should upload these in smaller batches?
