As we are a Primary school library(Kinder to Year 6) we need all areas to display alphabetically as any other way is too confusing for the students. It would be good if "the, an, a, at etc at the start of a title could be excluded from the search as this would narrow the field greatly. Author, title and subject designed alphabetically would be fantastic. Do you like the way Koha is sorting facets and facets results ?

Hello Could some librairians and vendors tell me if they like the way Koha is sorting facets and facets results, on a UX point of view ? Currently, - Results for each facets are sorted alphabeticly. - I can't explain the way factets (Authors, Title, Topics...) are sorted, maybe by popularity, but it is not always the same, depending of the request ! If we look at other catalogues, or non library websites (Amazon...), we don't see the same behavior. - Facets sorting does not change in the same catalogue - Facets results are sorted according to popularity (decrescent occurences), or sometime in a predefined order, sometime both, but never alphabeticly. (in amazon.com , Author and Book series are sorted according to popularity order, but Departement and Format facets in a predefined order. cf. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&fiel… in worldcat, Content and Public in a predefined order, and the others by popularity : http://www.worldcat.org/search?qt=worldcat_org_all&q=proust ) If you agree, I can make a patch for sorting facets results by popularity (easy to do) and sorting facets according to a defined order (more complicated for me but I will try...). Looking at the Perl script that generates Koha facets, in my opinion they are not good and... cannot be better :-) I found a very good solution in the Solr demo of BibLibre. Try http://catalogue.solr-demo.biblibre.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=*%3A*… that retrieves all records in the catalog. I think that facets cannot be generated but the indexer itself. Don't know if Zebra can generate them. Hope yopu find a solution. cataloging files stored locally

Dear catalogers using Koha, I am using koha v. 3.06.04.000. I am having trouble getting file paths to work for digital items stored locally. Using MARC Tag 856, first indicator value 4, $u, with file path something like file://mylocalserver/blahblah<file:///\\mylocalserver\blahblah>... does not work. There is just no action in the browser whatsoever. It seems this is because that tagging and indicator combination invoke the HTTP protocol which is not actually being used here. I read in the MARC documentation that what I really want to use for locally stored files is first indicator value 7 and $2. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that Koha supports $2 (only a bunch of the letter subfields). Has anyone figured this out? Or feel free to point out other issues I may be overlooking. Thanks! Amy C. Search of Non-Latin records

Dear friends, Our catalog mainly consists of Armenian records, thus during the installation we have chosen to use ICU. Then, after importing some records, we have rebuilded the Zebra index. On the console it was written that 7 records were indexed. However, when we tried to search for imported records, nothing was retrieved. But the records are definitely imported, since they are visible in the Staged Records. Interestingly, even records in English are not being searched. In the previous versions of koha we were enabling ICU after the installation by several manual modfications, but now this does not work too. If we do in this way, Koha simply retrieves all existing records in Armenian which is of course wrong. So, it appears that regardless how we enable ICU (during the installation or aftewards), non-latin records are anyway not being indexed. Please, can someone provide us a step-by-step solution? This is essential for us. Thanks in advance, Araik.

Inventory / Stock taking: Gateway Time-out

Dear Friends, We have 50000 records in Koha 3.8.6. For trying stock taking , we input accession numbers in a csv file (45000 records) and uploaded in stock taking module. We got the following error. Gateway Time-out The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application. Whats the meaning of this error? Importing batch

Hi all Recently i ran koha version 3.0200.004 on ubuntu server . I imported a batch of 3895 marc records , all records are proper . When i searched by itemtype it resulted 113 records fof English books , and 102 for Arabic theses . I ran zebra rebuilding . I dont know what extra settings should i do ???
