Hi Friends, I upgraded to Koha 3.10 from 3.8.6. My installation based on Ubuntu packages. It seems that Version 3.10.00 need little bit improvements to make it ready to use. I plan to work with 3.8.x till the release of 3.10.1 Can I upgrade from 3.8.6 to 3.8.7 direct? When I upgraded Koha version it jumped from 3.8.6 to 3.10.00. Regards, -- Vimal Kumar V. How to successfully upgrade to 3.8.x to 3.10.x
by Vimal Kumar V. 28 Nov '12

I installed Koha based on Ubuntu packages [http://tinyurl.com/btj4scm] and faced little difficult to install few dependencies for Koha 3.10.x. You can follow the steps to upgrade from 3.8.x to 3.10.x.These instructions not valid for installation from Koha tarball. Open synaptic manager and disable koha repository Synaptic Manager > Settings > Repositories > Other software Uncheck the following repository http://debian.koha-community.org/koha Close dialog box and press Reload button. Open Terminal and install following packages, apt-get install libchi-driver-memcached-perl apt-get install libdigest-jhash-perl Again open Synaptic manager and enable koha repositories and reload. I could not install libdata-paginator-perl from repository. We can install from CPAN. Open terminal and start CPAN apply the following command, sudo cpan install Data::Pagination Open Koha and change the opac theme from prog to ccsr. Otherwise OPAC look so scary. Administration > System Preferences > OPAC > opacthemes > ccsr I hope that these instructions help for smooth upgradation. -- Vimal Kumar V. OPAC left menu moved to bottom
by Vimal Kumar V. 28 Nov '12

Dear Friends, Koha 3.10.x seems about fine. I found another problem is that left menu in OPAC moved to bottom. See the screenshot https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/1fyYZNhS6y4vMzAqKESXsdMTjNZETYmyPJy0l… Is this the default place or happened something wrong? -- Vimal Kumar V. Reminder: Noch freie Plätze bei der Koha-Installationsparty
by Mirko 27 Nov '12

27 Nov '12

~~~ Information only available in German ~~~ Am kommenden Wochenende findet in der Bibliothek der TH-Wildau eine Koha-Installationsparty statt. Beginn: am 1. Dezember um 17Uhr Ende: spätestens am 2.Dezember 11Uhr Da parallel die erste Schmökernacht der Bibliothek stattfindet, stehen zur Erholung Feldliegen und Verköstigung bereit. Ziel des Abends soll sein, dass alle Teilnehmenden mit einer laufenden Koha-Installation und neuen Ideen nach Hause gehen. Nach der Installation werden wir einen Blick in das System werfen und versuchen aufkommende Fragen zu beantworten. In gemeinsamer Diskussion soll erörtert werden, welche Probleme ein eigener Betrieb des Systems als Alternative zu einem bezahlten Hosting aufwirft und welche Art von Unterstützung notwendig wäre, um als Bibliothek diesen Schritt zu gehen. Informationen zur Anfahrt finden Sie hier: http://www.th-wildau.de/bibliothek/kontakt-ansprechpartner.html Die Teilnahme ist kostenlos und wir stellen die benötigte Technik zur Verfügung. Besser ist allerdings, wenn Sie ein eigenes Notebook mitbringen um das Erlernte somit später weiter ausprobieren zu können. Falls Sie noch teilnehmen möchten, melden Sie sich bitte unter jkissig(a)th-wildau.de zurück.
linking authorities to biblios
by Haik Zargaryan 27 Nov '12
27 Nov '12
Dear friends, We are using the latest koha 3.8. After the successful installation we have imported both our catalog and authority records from the old ILS. Initially, authorities were not linked to the biblio records, but when we run link_bibs_to_authorities.pl, this problem was solved. So, in the *Used in* field it was written that the authority is used in 1 record. However, even after this when we try to search for a record using the *authority 400 $a* field instead of the author name, nothing is found. It is worth to mention that although both authority and biblio records are in Armenian, they are properly indexed. How can we handle this problem? Any ideas? Regards, Haik.
by Alex Kowalenko 27 Nov '12
Hello, I am attempting to install Koha on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS as per the installation instructions on the wiki pages. On Friday this was working no problems. But today when installing it on a production machine it fails. alex@ubuntu:~$ echo deb http://debian.koha-community.org/koha squeeze main | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/koha.list deb http://debian.koha-community.org/koha squeeze main alex@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install koha-common Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package koha-common alex@ubuntu:~$ echo deb http://debian.koha-community.org/koha oldstable main | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/koha.list deb http://debian.koha-community.org/koha oldstable main alex@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install koha-common Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package koha-common The machine is a fresh install of 12.04 LTS 32-bit sudo apt-get upgrade was run before the attempt to install koha. Has the release of 3.10 broken something in installs? -- Alex Kowalenko mailto:alex.kowalenko@gmail.com
