Hi all, We are using KOHA but we have a problem. KOHA, prohibits those who returned late. How do I disarm it? Koha directories do not have enough information about it. - Patron has had overdue items and is blocked for 21 day (s). (We use the version of Koha 3.0609000). Thank you. S. Armagan IGU Libraries

Re: [Koha] Problem in importing Patron Records

i think maybe when we open .csv file by Libreoffice Calc, by default, the field delimiter is semicolon. But when we open a .ods file, then save as a .csv file, the field delimiter is comma. And Koha accept comma. He got only this error as i did, it it not like not compare headerrow, or data format is not accepted. Maybe first, turn off all Mandatoryfield, then try exactly save file as .ods, next open this .ods and save as .csv. Maybe it should work. It is not because of borrowers number, Nicole engard deleted this row, and it still works. And when i imported file without first row's value, it still works.

Dear Jeremy, For K-12 Koha is easy to use especially if you activate the opac enhancer and display book images and all those things.. students can relate their search very fast and even you can train senior students to use "Tags" and "Comments" option; student will love these feature. Regarding the borrowernumber, What i used to do is manually enter the borrowernumber (use the excel feature of auto numbering). Line 2 Critical field "surname" missing (borrowernumber: UNDEF; surname: UNDEF). > If Surname is mandatory field and any one row is missing the surname data, Koha will show error. Line 2 Critical field "branchcode" missing (borrowernumber: UNDEF; surname: UNDEF). - check the branchcode in the .CSV file and the branchcode you have defined in Koha, if both are not matching it will show error or if .CSV have a new branch code it will again show you error. Line 2 Critical field "categorycode" missing (borrowernumber: UNDEF; surname: UNDEF). = same as branchcode error - you have not defined the catagorycode in the Koha setting. If you are asking how to bind on SupannAliasLogin you should be able to perform the step above and in the principal name field just enter %s and nothing else. That will try and bind on the username without joining any other strings. I run the file through a database called Cardbox for batch editing. Cardbox exports have never cause any problems with csv formatting before. As an experiment, I ran the Cardbox csv file through (an old version of) excel and exported a new csv file. But it didn't help, and in fact broke the date formatting (deleting the zero padding). We are using the same date format as is set in our system preferences (dd/mm/yyyy). For some patrons there is no expiration date (life members). Re: [Koha] Problem in importing Patron Records

Dear Elaine Can you share the patron excel file and also check the under system configuration "BorrowerMandatoryField" which are the fields mandatory, for uploading purpose you can remove those mandatory fields and try uploading the patron records. Would this be a problem - are expiration dates required? Must I convert it to yyyy-mm-dd ? (the notes on patron import seem to imply it's OK to use your specified date format). We have been using Koha for 3-4? years. Works great.....we currently use it in one 4-5 grade building, but plan on moving our HS and MS to it as well. http://koha.almaschools.net/ Almost no issues.....every now and then I have to run a "rebuild" when biblios get deleted out of the database.... other than that.....it's truly plug it and forget it (and I could probably CRON that rebuild....but I just never get around to it). Feel free to contact me off list if you would like. http://www.almaschools.net/district/technology/current-technology-staff/ >>> Jeremy Wellner<jwellner(a)stanwood.wednet.edu> 11/21/2012 2:34 PM >>> Hello! Re: [Koha] Problem in importing Patron Records

I have to set up a system to convert information from our membership list into patron files on a monthly basis to catch expired memberships. Would this be a problem - are expiration dates required? Must I convert it to yyyy-mm-dd ? (the notes on patron import seem to imply it's OK to use your specified date format). Open .csv file with Libre Calc (it may ask for default- seperated by semicolon and comma, choose those values), then fill it, save as .ods file, then open .ods file, save as new .csv file. First, i have problem with this, too. I downloaded original file patron_import.csv, opened it with Libreoffice Calc, watched table borrowers in database by Phpmyadmin. Then i tried to fill all file with the similar values as what i did before (add patron manual). Next i saved file as .csv file, and tried import patron. I failed with message: "Line 2 Critical field "surname" missing (borrowernumber: UNDEF; surname: UNDEF)"... Next i tried to change fomats all fields in their fomats (text, number, date), esspecially date YYY-MM-DD. Then i saved file as .csv file, and tried import patron. I failed with message: "Line 2 Critical field "surname" missing (borrowernumber: UNDEF; surname: UNDEF)"... (same error) I saved .csv file as .ods file, and tried import, once more time fail. Last time, maybe i was lucky, i use that.ods file, saved as .csv file, then i received a message: Export text file... field delimiter , text delimiter " I press Ok, then saved. And i imported patrons without error. I don't understand it very clear, but just wanna share experience. Hope it can help someone else.

Hello! I am looking for some feedback from users who have Koha and are using it in a K12 environment. We are evaluating the option to see if it would be suitable for our environment.
