Hi, I've a technical question about ldap. My connexion with the ldap is enabled. The mapping is correct but we would like to use "SupannAliasLogin" instead of "uid". Why? Our uid is like this [year of entry in the school]+supannAliasLogin example:2012desseauxs 2012:year of entry in the school desseauxs:SupannAliasLogin I don't know how to do and i i have to change the principal name Actually, we have the following configuration <ldapserver id="ldapserver" listenref="ldapserver"> <hostname>*******</hostname> <base>ou=people,dc=ecp,dc=fr</base> <user>cn=syncrepl,ou=applications,dc=ecp,dc=fr</user> <pass>******</pass> <replicate>1</replicate> <update>1</update> <auth_by_bind>1</auth_by_bind> <principal_name>uid=%s,ou=people,dc=ecp,dc=fr</principal_name> <mapping> <firstname is="givenname"></firstname> <surname is="sn"></surname> <address is="">Ecole Centrale Paris</address> <city is="">Chatenay-Malabry</city> <zipcode is="">92290</zipcode> <branchcode is="">ECAM</branchcode> <userid is="uid"></userid> <password is="userpassword"></password> <cardnumber is="ecpbadgenumber"></cardnumber> <email is="mail"></email> <categorycode is="supannetudiplome">employee</categorycode> <phone is="telephonenumber">903-566-7654</phone> <dateenrolled is="">2012-09-01</dateenrolled> <dateexpiry is="">2013-09-01</dateexpiry> </mapping> </ldapserver> Many thanks samuel

Re: [Koha] How to change fine calculation time in Koha installation on Ubuntu packages
by Vimal Kumar V. 21 Nov '12

21 Nov '12

Dear Mark and other friends, My problem with fine calculation is as follows: default fine calculation time is 1 AM. Fine calculation does not work in the case of Koha installed on pc not working for 24x7 hours. Libraries having Koha service available between 9AM to 5 PM cant count fine. Reason is that cronjob work only on 1 PM. Installation from tarball cronjob entries can be loaded in crontab -e with timings. # FINES 5 10 * * * $KOHA_CRON_PATH/fines.pl Users can easily change the default time (1pm) to other convenient time (e.g. 9 AM) for fine calculation. My doubt is that how can I change the default time of fine calculation to another convenient timing? I would like to change time 1 PM to 10 AM. I installed Koha from Ubuntu packages. Where I can find the default fine calculation time? This information is very important for small libraries installed Koha on PC. Regards, -- Vimal Kumar V. Help with documentation errors
by Nicole Engard 20 Nov '12

20 Nov '12

Hello all, I noticed that the 3.8 manual wasn't updating using the cron job we run nightly and so Larry found the following errors (note that it's not just the 3.8 English manual): 3.10, French: fr/manual.xml:2181: parser error : CharRef: invalid decimal value les amendes est de 5 &#8364 (c'est | dire qu'un adhérent ayant accumulé ^ fr/manual.xml:2181: parser error : xmlParseCharRef: invalid xmlChar value 0 les amendes est de 5 &#8364 (c'est | dire qu'un adhérent ayant accumulé ^ fr/manual.xml:2186: parser error : CharRef: invalid decimal value qui porterait la somme totale due par l'adhérent | 5 &#8364. Selon ^ fr/manual.xml:2186: parser error : xmlParseCharRef: invalid xmlChar value 0 qui porterait la somme totale due par l'adhérent | 5 &#8364. Selon ^ fr/manual.xml:5968: parser error : Opening and ending tag mismatch: chapter line 85 and section </section> ^ fr/manual.xml:15191: parser error : Opening and ending tag mismatch: book line 4 and section </section> ^ fr/manual.xml:15192: parser error : Extra content at the end of the document </chapter> ^ unable to parse fr/manual.xml 3.8, English: en/manual.xml:41551: parser error : Premature end of data in tag para line 41550 information. ^ en/manual.xml:41551: parser error : Premature end of data in tag section line 41527 information. ^ en/manual.xml:41551: parser error : Premature end of data in tag appendix line 41521 information. ^ en/manual.xml:41551: parser error : Premature end of data in tag book line 4 information. ^ unable to parse en/manual.xml 3.6, French: fr/manual.xml:18780: parser error : CharRef: invalid decimal value Ne pas rentrer de signes monétaires ($, &#8364 )</para> ^ fr/manual.xml:18780: parser error : xmlParseCharRef: invalid xmlChar value 0 Ne pas rentrer de signes monétaires ($, &#8364 )</para> ^ fr/manual.xml:18818: parser error : CharRef: invalid decimal value Ne pas rentrer de signes monétaires ($, &#8364 )</para> ^ fr/manual.xml:18818: parser error : xmlParseCharRef: invalid xmlChar value 0 Ne pas rentrer de signes monétaires ($, &#8364 )</para> ^ unable to parse fr/manual.xml -- So, it looks like the 3.10 French, 3.8 English, and 3.6 French manuals are not updating. However, the 3.6 English one should be. My question is, how do encoding errors like the ones on the English manual happen? I looked at that line in the code and see nothing, I even deleted that line and still can't save the file because it tells me that there are encoding errors in the file. Any help would be greatly appreciated so that I can get the 3.8 manual back on track. Nicole PS. If you know how to fix it you're free to submit a patch of course!!

searching
by Sandra Busutel 19 Nov '12

19 Nov '12

As we are a Primary school library(Kinder to Year 6) we need all areas to display alphabetically as any other way is too confusing for the students. It would be good if "the, an, a, at etc at the start of a title could be excluded from the search as this would narrow the field greatly. Author, title and subject designed alphabetically would be fantastic. Do you like the way Koha is sorting facets and facets results ?
by Mathieu Saby 19 Nov '12

19 Nov '12

Hello Could some librairians and vendors tell me if they like the way Koha is sorting facets and facets results, on a UX point of view ? Currently, - Results for each facets are sorted alphabeticly. - I can't explain the way factets (Authors, Title, Topics...) are sorted, maybe by popularity, but it is not always the same, depending of the request ! If we look at other catalogues, or non library websites (Amazon...), we don't see the same behavior. - Facets sorting does not change in the same catalogue - Facets results are sorted according to popularity (decrescent occurences), or sometime in a predefined order, sometime both, but never alphabeticly. (in amazon.com , Author and Book series are sorted according to popularity order, but Departement and Format facets in a predefined order. cf. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&fiel… in worldcat, Content and Public in a predefined order, and the others by popularity : http://www.worldcat.org/search?qt=worldcat_org_all&q=proust ) If you agree, I can make a patch for sorting facets results by popularity (easy to do) and sorting facets according to a defined order (more complicated for me but I will try...).
