Call for news for the November newsletter
by Daniel Grobani 13 Nov '12

13 Nov '12

Dear Koha kommunitarians, I'm harvesting news for this month's newsletter. Please send me by the 20th anything you think your fellow community members might like to know about. "News" can be as short as a sentence or as long as a paper. I especially encourage you to send me a line or two for the gossip/society column about what you're currently working on. And if you know of a go-live not announced on the list, please be sure to let me know about it. Thanks, Daniel Grobani

I'm trying to use XML export (of spine labels) in Koha 3.06.04.000, and I get an error: Software error: Global symbol "@label_ids" requires explicit package name at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/labels/label-create-xml.pl line 40. Does anyone know what steps I need to follow to add it? Thanks, Peter

Chris' random request of the year
by Chris Cormack 12 Nov '12

12 Nov '12

Hi All So I have started to make a wall of library cards of libraries using Koha. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ranginui/8179693263/in/photostream I only have 5 so far, but I would absolutely love it if people were able to send me a card from their library. I think it would make a fantastic display and I will promise to take lots of photos of it (under a CC-BY-SA) license. As I said, a random request :) Thanks in advance Chris

Simplest way to print labels?
by Peter Aronson 11 Nov '12

11 Nov '12

I'm about to leave the Koha project I've been volunteering on, and I need to find a better way of printing labels… What I have been doing is CSV export, then importing into LibreOffice (OpenOffice), and then formatting the sheet of labels every single time. But it's too much work — the person who replaces me will never want to do that. The problem is that we automatically split our call numbers into 3 lines, so the margins are not the standard ones. Does anyone know a simpler way of exporting labels into a template or file that is pre-formatted in terms of fonts and margins? I am not against using Word or some other commercial software. Thanks, Peter

Switching from default to fast add framework is very slow...
by Amir Seni 11 Nov '12

11 Nov '12

Greetings, When adding a new marc record i usually change the framework from defauit to the fast add framework and it is extremely slow in the transition. It takes about 20 - 25 seconds just to change the framework. Any tips on how to improve the loading time. Running Koha version: 3.06.10.000 Previous versions loaded much faster than now Regards, Amir
