Dear Friends, I posted the same in Koha-devel list. Thank you for your suggestions on Live CD/DVD. I started to work for Live CD/DVD. In my experience Remastersys is the right tool to make Live CD/DVD. It has provision to make ISO in backup mode. So we can include user account and related files too. Remastersys with Ubuntu 12.04 is successful. Both live mode and installer are working well. I started with Ubuntu 12.04 ISO image. One problem with size of the CD/DVD. I removed many heavy applications like Libreoffice etc. Even though it size about 800 MB. I strictly followed the instructions from following link to install Koha, http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_ubuntu_-_packages I found that Z39.50 does not download records. When try to search records from z39.50 servers, it says Try another search. Anybody noticed this problem with 3.8.5? We have to solve this problem. Koha CD/DVD should be easy to use. We have to think about Koha newbies in mind when making CD/DVD. I am preparing for a family tour and I return only on October 24. So I am little bit hurry and have to started to prepare bag packs. Dear Vimal, I just have gone through your thread of koha livecd. We have been working hard on getting latest koha livecd but koha versions above 3.8 all give following error while searching OPAC. I had posted this query on IRC but had not got any answer. After all the attempts of trial we could bring live CD with 3.6.9 on lubuntu 12.04. We have just finished compiling the one with lUbuntu, DSpace 1.8.2, Koha 3.6.9 & Drupal 7.15. We have used uck for compiling the liveCD. We will soon be uploading on sourceforge. I am giving herewith the error in koha-zebraqueue-output.log. This has been already posted earlier but had not found any answer and because of which we could not announce livecd. Finally we decided to use 3.6 version. If anyone has any fix available for this error pl. let us know and we can try compiling koha with 3.8.5. DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Table 'koha.zebraqueue' does not exist at /home/koha/bin/zebraqueue_daemon.pl line 124. DBD::mysql::st fetchrow_hashref failed: fetch() without execute() at /home/koha/bin/zebraqueue_daemon.pl line 125. The above lines get repeated. Restriction on renewal of items on expiration of patrons account

Hello everyone, How can i set koha to disable the patrons with expired account from renewing any library material in such an account, I noticed that is making the fine.pl to double charge on items. I am using koha 3.04? installed on ubuntu 10.0 thanks

Some thoughts about an »official« Koha LiveCD

Hello everyone, as of the last IRC meeting, we have a LiveCD manager and that leads us one step into the direction of an »official«, maintained Koha LiveCD as opposed to various more or less outdated disks that are to be found scattered across the interwebs. I was wondering if we should start to gather some ideas of what we would agree on to be deserving the label »official Koha LiveCD« -- or if we would not want that label at all. Some things that came to minds (to my own and those of others in discussions about it) are - being up-to-date One of the problems now is that a lot of the available liveCDs are very outdated, thus carrying bugs and security risks. LiveCDs are old as soon as they get out by default. It would be important to have the latest stable version ready. I don't know if it is realistic to expect a fresh disk each month (or even two, for stable and oldstable)?! Would there be less stressful release cycles imaginable for this kind of release? - promoting liveCDs for testing, not for production LiveCDs are very common in GNU/Linux land and a nice way to try things without having to go through a more or less complicated installation routine and maybe breaking what you had running before. But I think once you tested and decided to use the system, you should go for a real installation and I'd like to see that promoted to avoid having people run outdated versions forever. There is even the idea of an expiration date for LiveCDs to decrease the number of outdated, insecure Koha systems. - promoting package installation Having the choice to install directly from the live medium after testing would be desirable. The best/ easiest/ recommended way of installation is an installation with Debian packages. I hope to see the inclusion of this way of installation as a goal of the development of an »official« disk. - bug tracking/ transparency Koha development happens mostly in the open and can be observed on bugzilla and git. It would be nice to see a »LiveCD« section on bugzilla that is assigned to the LiveCD Manager to be able to give feedback on bugs specific to this form of release, discuss development and also have some people test new releases of the disk before release. There is probably a lot more I forgot but I thought it might be useful to start a discussion about it. What are your thoughts on the points given here, what other things do you consider important? I'd be particularly interested in Vimal's views of course, but also like to see participation by everybody else. I send this email to both lists but I would propose to discuss on [koha-devel]. Changing the default tab in results page

Dear friends, When we search for a record in OPAC, koha by default displays the *Holdings* tab. Can I modify things in a way that instead of Holdings *Title notes* tab is displayed by default. I looked in "Global System Preferences" but was unable to find something. Any ideas? Thank you in advance, Haik.
