Need report help for authorities
by Elaine Bradtke 03 Jan '13

03 Jan '13

We're running 3.10 and enjoying the enhanced authority features, even if it showed up a problem with our data. Some of our records were imported with terms in the wrong fields so that linking to authority records didn't work (in the biblio as a topical heading when the authority record is for a corporate name, for example). So, ideally I need: 1) A list of authority records that are not attached to biblios ( it would be really useful if this included the term and type of authority). 2) A list of names and terms in authority controlled fields that aren't linked to authorities. I realize I'll probably have to build a separate list for each relevant MARC field. I tried the following from the Reports Library, but it timed out: Authors not in the Authorities Developer: MJ Ray, software.coop Module: Catalog Purpose: List of author names found on biblio records but not authority records Status: Production SELECT DISTINCT(author) AS heading FROM biblio WHERE author NOT IN (SELECT ExtractValue(marcxml,'//datafield[@tag="100"]/subfield[@code="a"]') AS heading FROM auth_header WHERE authtypecode='PERSO_NAME') ORDER BY heading Any thoughts? My IT Guru says he will poke around in the nether regions of the database tonight to see what he can find, but the more information I can gather on the state of the problem, the sooner we can fix it, I hope. Problem with Zebra Index - Koha v3.08.001
by Joel Harbottle 03 Jan '13

03 Jan '13

Hi All, I have a strange problem with the Zebra indexing on my Koha 3.08.001 installation. When I create Bib records, Koha creates the record fine within the system, and after saving the record, it is searchable within ten minutes of saving it. BUT.... The problem is.... If I search the catalogue via the Staff Client the search will give me results and I can view the Bib/Item Records. If I search the OPAC all searches return no results and you cannot view a Bib record. But, if you click on the "Most Popular" link in the navigation bar of the OPAC, it will list Titles and if you click on them it will take you to their Bib record. It's a weird problem which has left me surprised and I haven't used Zebra enough to know how to solve this problem. cloning 856 $u
by Haik Zargaryan 02 Jan '13

02 Jan '13

Dear friends, We want to attach several URLs to the MARC record. Since the 856 $u field is repeatable, we have decided to clone the subfield several times. Yet, when we search for the record in the OPAC, only the first link is displayed in the results' page, meanwhile the other ones are not visible at all. We have a similar problem with the 856 $y field as well. All subfields are concatenated in one field and are displayed as a one text. We want to have all links each one with its appropriate text value, and of course, displayed separately. Is it possible? Thank you in advance, Haik.

Happy New Year - can you help make it even happier, please?
by MJ Ray 02 Jan '13

02 Jan '13

Happy New Year! Could I cheekily suggest two New Year's Resolutions that would make the new year even happier for people who try to help the koha community? 1. don't email koha and koha-devel both at the same time - if you do that, the people who help the most like Chris and so on will get two or more copies. It would be nicer not to mailbomb them... So if it's a usage or installation or similar request, please email koha@ lists.katipo.co.nz, while for enhancement or programming requests, email koha-devel@ lists.koha-community.org - if in doubt, probably email koha@ first. If you need to resend, please mention where you sent it before, so helpers don't repeat themselves. 2. if you edit the wiki or the source code, put in a log comment to describe what you changed. This helps other authors decide if they should review the change soon, or just when they get around to it. The log comment box on the wiki editor is just above the Save button. The "/* SECTION TITLE */" message that appears automatically sometimes is not a comment - please add your comment after that. Thanks and season's greetings!
