Hello everyone, I'm building a new environment for a Library that currently has a custom-built library system with a MySQL back-end DB. I've gone through the process outlined at http://www.botskool.com/geeks/how-import-excel-data-koha to export my existing MySQL data to Excel, converting it with MarcEdit, and then staging it in Koha. The process works without errors but I have the following 2 problems I'm wondering if anyone can help me with: - The "TITLE" for all of my records imported it empty ("No Title" show up for everything). Does anyone know what MARC21 field designator I should be mapping my title to? I've tried 130$a, 222$a, and 240$a and none of them seem to be the proper field - I get all of my bibliographic records (without titles) but they all show up as having no holdings/copies available. What do I need to do to get the "No items available" to show that I have copies available? I had done a migration from Athena to Koha preciously and had a similar issue and used the athena2marc.pl module to resolve this "no holdings" issue in that case, but I'm not sure what I need to do to get "holdings" to show up in this case THANKS! borrowing extremely slow

We find it is taking around 15 seconds to borrow and item after having zapped the barcode. This is far too slow when you have 30 children waiting in line. Can anyone suggest how we can speed this up? Hi to allI installed koha 3.2 on ubuntu 10.10 from 2 years ago , now we will prepare a new server ubuntu 12.04 server edition to install koha 3.8.9 , how come i transfer my data from old server to new server .any suggetion. Using Koha to issue equipment

Hi all, I'm a complete newbie - hoping to install Koha this year in our library - but have a couple of questions about issuing technical equipment... Does anyone have any experience using Koha to issue equipment (e.g. cameras, lights) for short term loan periods? Can you give me feedback on how well it works and if there are any pitfalls to avoid when setting up this kind of system? And lastly, has anyone integrated a booking system (using a calendar) with Koha, for the purposes of equipment loan? I did a quick search of the Koha site and found one reference to, I think, the Norwegian Naval College using Koha to issue equipment... If anyone has any useful info it would be much appreciated! linking authorities to biblios

Dear friends, We have recently upgraded to koha 3.10. After importing our catalog and authority records we have used link_bibs_to_authorities.pl script to link them. During the process I was frequently (once per 1000 record) seeing this error on the console. ----- Auth error: Query term includes characters that do not translate into the target character set (1072) Bib-1 ----- However, when the process is over it seems that authorities were linked to the biblios. The message below appears in the console. ---------------------------------------------------- Bib authority heading linking report ======================================================= Linker module: C4::Linker::Default Run started at: 02/04/13 10:40:18 Run ended at: 02/04/13 11:16:16 Total run time: 2157486 ms Number of bibs checked: 255350 Number of bibs modified: 0 Number of bibs with errors: 0 Number of headings linked: 44199 Number of headings unlinked: 722664 Number of headings fuzzily linked: 0 --------------------------------------------------------- Moreover, when i go to specific records in the sub field 100 $9 I can see the appropriate authority code. Yet, when I search for the authority in the *Used in* column *0 records* is written. What is more, I was told that starting from this version we can search for the records using the *authority 400 a$* field instead of the author name just preliminary turning on syspref "IncludeSeeFromInSearches". Unfortunately, this feature worked neither. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance, Haik
