Favor for School Kids in New Jersey, USA
by Nicole Engard 26 Feb '13

26 Feb '13

Hi all, This isn't Koha related, but I'd love it if those of you who can would help my cousin learn about geography. Her class in school is collecting postcards from around the world and using the Horton Hears a Who books as the theme. So if you could (before the end of March) mail a postcard to: East Amwell Township School Mrs. Orlando's Class 43 Wertsville Rd. Ringoes, NJ 08551 United States of America And write on the postcard: Hello class, I have spotted Horton for you in (city, state, country etc.) From, YOUR NAME (a friend of Nicole, Amanda's cousin) That would be awesome. I will be sending them from all the places I train this coming month and cards from all states, cities and countries are welcome. Thanks all! Nicole PS. If you participate email me off list and let me know just so I can thank you! :)

Koha 3.10.3 on Ubuntu 12.10 server on VMWare
by ISM KIS 26 Feb '13

26 Feb '13

After waiting for almost too long I finally upgraded our system from Koha 3.4 / SuSE 11.3 to Koha 3.10.3 on Ubuntu 12.10 I still remember the pain to get all the Perl modules right on SuSE. Compared to that Ubuntu was really easy. (Only Data::Pagination was a small challenge) If anyone is interested in a ready to go .ovf file for VMWare ESXi 5 I'm happy to share. Thank you Koha people very much for such a great system! Further testing, clicking on the link to the OPAC view results in Error 404 (the link was broken and the page doesn't exist). Hi All - We are all very sad to see Ruth moving on - but would be very surprised to see Ruth not kicking around in the Koha IRC channels. We will all miss your enthusiasm and excitement about Koha. As for the translation manager for 3.14 of Koha. If no one offers to volunteer for that position. We at ByWater are willing to host the servers for that and a few of us here can help be the "Admin" of that. I'd love to see a non-native English speaker volunteer for that position and We (ByWater) will do everything we can to help pass that responsibility on. Maybe our new candidates here will be interested in volunteering for this position. My changing role...
by Ruth Bavousett 25 Feb '13

25 Feb '13

To my friends in the Koha community, I have accepted a position outside the library community, and will be leaving ByWater Solutions as of March 8. It has been an incredible almost-five years for me, working on Koha, and getting to meet so many of you virtually and in-person. I say without reservation that some of my best friends on the planet are Koha people, some of whom I have never met in person. I will continue to serve as Translation Manager for the rest of the 3.12 release cycle; I would like to stay involved in Koha after that, so once I see what my workload will look like, I'll decide whether to run for another term. I'll be switching my emails for the lists over to my personal account soon, but if you need me for translation matters, email to druthb(a)gmail.com will be your best bet, going forward. *D Ruth Bavousett* Lead Migration Specialist ByWater Solutions Support and Consulting for Open Source Software Headquarters: Santa Barbara, CA Office: Lawrence, KS Phone/Fax (888)900-8944 http://bywatersolutions.com ruth(a)bywatersolutions.com
