Why holds on restricted items?

Hi, Does anyone know why I can place a hold on an biblio with items that have use restrictions (952$5 ) ? You can even confirm the hold. So a mail goes out: Waiting for you.,etc. But note that such items cannot be checked out. What would be the use of placing and confirming holds on items you cannot check out? Perhaps I am missing something? Did not see any reference in the manual either. Regards, Marcel

Best way to install koha in ubuntu 12.04?

Subject tracing help

Hello, I am having trouble getting the tracing of subjects the way I would like. We are running v. 3.8 and have UseAuthoritiesForTracings set to 'Don't use' and 'TraceSubjectSubdivisions' set to 'Include' and are using the Zebra index. However, whenever a subject tracing is clicked in the OPAC, it searches by the linked authority record, and does not include the subdivisions. Might we have other system preferences conflicting, have I wholly misunderstood the function of these system preferences, or might this just be an irregularity with our system? I would like to allow our users to be as granular as they would like with subject tracings. Any ideas are appreciated. Records not showing in OPAC and multiple biblionumbers

Koha 3.10.02 We have set up 942n to have two choices Hide in OPAC and Show in OPAC. The record suppression has been working fine until recently. The staff member who checks and unsuppresses records says there are a bunch which have accumulated that remain hidden, even after he's changed the field to Show. If I run a search on suppress=1(the code for hide in OPAC) they come up. Looking closer at these records, it turns out they have multiple 999c fields Here's an example: 942 ## - ADDED ENTRY ELEMENTS (KOHA) 2 Source of classification or shelving scheme VWML c Koha [default] item type Components n Hide in OPAC Show in OPAC h Call number QS 40 999 ## - SYSTEM CONTROL NUMBERS (KOHA) c Koha biblionumber 18235 c Koha biblionumber 18235 | 14922 c Koha biblionumber 14922 If I delete the extra 999c fields the record will unsuppress. However, I think this may be part of some other problem, but I'm not sure if it's an indexing error, or what. The actual biblionumber is 18235. But when I search on that biblionumber I get two nearly identical records: one is 18235 and one is 18235 | 14922 The difference between the two is in the 999c field We sometimes combine bliblios when we find duplicates, and this may be the source of the double number. Any ideas what might be causing it, and what I should do to correct it? koha-zebra configuration for multiple installation

Hello I'm trying to run multiple libraries with koha (standard installation of koha 3.08.09.tar.gz) on a single server & single installation of koha (Debian squeeze Linux Based). I’ve used koha common package for necessary perl module. Then I've change of the necessary section of conf file and virtual host. Now the problem arises in the searching of the OPAC and Staff Client. All the opac shows the same search result though I've rebuild them differently. Actually it shows the last rebuild index on searching. Any fruitful suggestion on this regards? Regards munira

Hii just upgraded from koha 3.2 to 3.8 , every thing good , i configured the default.idx to searching in arabic , after that when i making search in english language , the most results in keywords search didn't matching the title , i think there are a problem but i don't know where ? any helpthank you
